I remember when this remake came out thinking it was one of the rocking best things I had ever heard. Saw it on cable three months ago......my reaction wasn't quite the same.

Just to politely bump over Rowe's "SHUFFLE ALL" post (ain't I a stinker), here's the #1 song on this day (Aug 22) in decades past:
2002- Nelly featuring Kelly Rowland- "Dilemma"
My comments from previous 2002 posts remain.
Eh...all I know about Rowland is: "she's the other girl not-named-Beyonce from their group" and that Clinton Portis once gave an interview talking about the crush he had on her.
1992- Boyz II Men- "End of the Road"
This will remain #1 for the next three months or so.
I find it humorous that Boyz II Men still pop up at the random festival nowadays. But shouldn't they just be known as "Men", now?
1982- Survivor- "Eye of the Tiger"
The video proves that guys in berets and dorks with glasses are BAD ASS. Note the "studio" they play in around 2:54 with the blowing garbage bag background! Say, is that the same place the Freebirds filmed "Badstreet USA?!"
This also tells us: 'oh, Rocky III must've come out that summer'. For my money, that's THE 80's movie.
I said it before, but if there's one thing this thread has confirmed to me, it's that 1982 was the year that kicked the 80's into gear.

A somewhat lesser-know Queen tune. From 1991 and one of their last singles. I remember when I unexpectedly heard it on Z-Rock, early that year. A lot of folks were: "wha? Queen has a new song? Weird".
This was about a year before they a big comeback with Wayne's World. It's also one of the last appearances of Freddie Mercury, as he looks rather frail in the scenes shot in the sound studio/mixing board.
And yes, this came up on my iPod today. I would list all the songs I listen to so you can marvel at my eclectic selections, but they're really only of interest to me. We should have a thread for something like that.

This is featured in "End of Watch"-- aka, the best cop movie since "Police Academy".
Public Enemy- "Harder Than You Think"
Talking about the movie and tune with my buddy: "Awesome. Public Enemy's cool and relevant again... waitsec ...(both of us in stereo): they were never NOT cool and relevant!"

Oh you poor bastards.. I mean, you lucky dogs... it's #1's on this day back in..
2002- Eminem - Lose Yourself
Now a GM commercial! Strange, but Eminem is almost "old school" nowadays. I wasn't a fan of this song until I made out with some chick in a club while it was playing. Then I thought: "I don't like Eminem, but that song's kinda' neat".
1992- Whitney Houston- IIIIIIIII Will Always Love Youuuuuuu Sorry, not looking it up. Boyz II Men's reign was finally ended a few weeks earlier by...The Heights- "How Do You Talk to an Angel". Whitney took over two weeks later and will continue her reign of terror for a few more months.
1982- Toni Basl- Mickey
Yes, I'm including the DIRECTOR'S CUT. I have no clue what that entails.
1972- Hellen Reddy- I am Woman
Yup. Includes the famous line: "I am woman, hear me roar". Yay, feminism.

Adding Rowe's "Elimination Chamber" review made me think of this:
The chorus is high-larious and the "EEEE" from the lead singer always cracks me up.
I'd put Overkill with bands like Exodus, Testament and Metal Church. Thrash/speed metal bands that came after the "Big Four" (at least in the public's eye), but never really made it big. They always seemed to be an opening act or triple-billed with other bands.
