Buddy Bell's Royals are now 1.000 against the Yankees. Dick Howser is jealous.

(grumbles) Why you rapscallion, you can kiss my... (trails off)
S.T. Strickler - June 2, 2005 08:39 PM (GMT)
I just caught the Orioles/Red Sox score on Yahoo (don't wanna witness the torture live on TV). B.J. Ryan blew a save in the bottom of the 9th, with 2 outs, to David Ortiz. O's lost 6-4.
Scrooge McSuck - June 2, 2005 08:55 PM (GMT)
At least you're still in first place. A Perfect World would have both Boston and New York not make the Playoffs this year. GO TORONTO! (waves Front-Runner Banner)
S.T. Strickler - June 2, 2005 09:36 PM (GMT)
Toronto? I thought you were a Yankees fan.
Scrooge McSuck - June 2, 2005 09:44 PM (GMT)
Ahem... I'm waving the front runner banner.
S.T. Strickler - June 6, 2005 12:41 AM (GMT)
Orioles take 2 out of 3 at Detroit, upping their record to 34-22, and staying in first place I might add.
'05: 34-22
'04: 26-30
S.T. Strickler - June 14, 2005 02:35 AM (GMT)
Baltimore beat the Astros tonight, 8-5.. Bigbie is back from injury, and this is the lineup and power of the O's that I've been waiting to see for awhile.
By the way, the O's have reached 37 wins, which is their total amount of wins they had last year at the All-Star Break.
Scrooge McSuck - June 14, 2005 02:47 AM (GMT)
Baltimore is A-Maze-ing this season. I pegged them to be 10 games out of first place by now before the season started. I guess Jesus kicked me in the ass with that one.
Scrooge McSuck - June 18, 2005 09:12 PM (GMT)
Jeter with his first career Grand Slam! YES! YES !YES Y@@!( collapses)
eStragand - June 22, 2005 05:44 PM (GMT)
Hey..I was at that O's game! Thought it was funny how the fans all holler "O" when they get to "OH say does that.." in the nat'l anthem. Also got to meet Boog Frickin' Powell at his Bar BQ pit in front of the warehouse!
Another weird fan thing, from down the road in DC: Neil Diamond is HUGE there. During a Nationals game, they played "Sweet Caroline" over the PA. The operator would kill the music during the chorus and the fans would all yell "oh-oh-oh".

Yeah, they do that all the time, from what I can hear on TV.. Even Maryland fans did that at the Cavaliers/Terps football game this past fall.
Well, the Orioles lost 3 out of 4 to Toronto, and now their AL East lead has now dwindled to only 1/2 game. Now I'm worried.
Scrooge McSuck - June 24, 2005 01:27 AM (GMT)
Just think of it this way... it's a hell of a lot better than last year, when they had a losing record. :)
S.T. Strickler - June 24, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
Yeah.. and in '98, '99, '00, '01, '02, and '03.
Scrooge McSuck - June 24, 2005 01:56 AM (GMT)
If you want to dig the whole deeper, than yes, the Orioles have sucked for pretty much the last decade. It seems like forever since they've had a good season.
S.T. Strickler - June 24, 2005 08:55 PM (GMT)
I'd love for the Orioles to have another wire-to-wire season like they did it '97, going 98-64.
Scrooge McSuck - June 24, 2005 11:22 PM (GMT)
Jeter homers off Pedro on the 2nd pitch of the bottom of 1st, and it's 1-0. Who's Your Daddy! WOOO!
(dances)
Scrooge McSuck - June 25, 2005 02:00 AM (GMT)
Tino breaks his suck streak with a 2 run homer in the 9th inning, but 2 close plays end the game 6-4. :(
S.T. Strickler - June 25, 2005 02:13 AM (GMT)
And the Orioles lose to the Braves, 7-5.. Like I keep saying, their pitching is killing them. Hayden Penn got rocked big time tonight. If they want to even think about being a contending team this year and for the future, they NEED to find some decent pitchers. Oh yeah, Sosa's a bum.
And...... The Orioles are no longer in first place. Boston (42-30) leads Baltimore (42-31) by a 1/2 game. They better not go on any big losing streaks, like the big 12-loser last year.
Scrooge McSuck - June 25, 2005 03:07 AM (GMT)
Don't worry, it's only 1/2 game. My team is 6 games back, and with the Red Sox steam rolling, that's gonna be hard to catch.
S.T. Strickler - June 25, 2005 09:03 PM (GMT)
Orioles lost after allowing a walk-off homerun to Andruw Jones in the bottom of the 9th. Again, the bullpen blows the game for the O's. But at least they managed to tie it up late in the game. Pretty sure they'll lose tomorrow, and then I'm pretty sure they'll struggle against the Yankees.
By the way, today's loss is their 4th straight, which is their longest of the season. I dread the summer.
Scrooge McSuck - June 25, 2005 10:24 PM (GMT)
The worst part is that the Red Sox won again today. God Dammit to hell.
S.T. Strickler - June 25, 2005 11:17 PM (GMT)
I hate the Dead-Sox, except for when they won the World Series last year.
Scrooge McSuck - June 25, 2005 11:18 PM (GMT)
...Kiss my ass you butt fucking Red Sox lover! Socks aren't supposed to be Red, and when they are, it means your dicks been over-worked!
S.T. Strickler - June 26, 2005 10:05 PM (GMT)
Well, the O's lost another one to the Braves, 8-1.. It's getting uglier, and the Nationals are doing better than them.. I wonder if it's too late to switch teams.
By the way Scrooge, I have MVP Baseball 2005.. Do you think I should play a season with the O's (who I won the World Series with in MVP '03), or should I go for the Nationals?
Scrooge McSuck - June 26, 2005 10:18 PM (GMT)
Don't be a front runner, use the Devil Rays. However, it depends on which team you like better. I usually play with the worst team that I like, but considering the Orioles and Nationals basically have the same record, I's go with the Nationals, since this is their first year back in D.C.
S.T. Strickler - June 26, 2005 10:38 PM (GMT)
Ok, how about some schmuck NL team like the Cubs, Pirates, or Reds? If I can lead the Redskins, Bills, Saints, and Bengals in Tecmo Super Bowl 3 to winning records, and the '93 Colts and '93 Steelers to winning records in Tecmo Super Bowl (SNES), I'm pretty sure I can lead one of these teams to a winning season w/playoffs.
Scrooge McSuck - June 26, 2005 11:20 PM (GMT)
Pittsburgh Pirates. I was using them in my ESPN 2K5 game, and let me just say, it was challenging. I rarely lose in sports games on medium difficulty, but my record so far is barely 30-10, with a bunch of come from behind 8th-9th inning run wins.
With my drafted Tampa Bay season, I'm 67-1, mainly because Clemens, Santana, and Dontrelle Willis have like a combined 1.06 ERA.
Scrooge McSuck - June 28, 2005 03:10 AM (GMT)
How bout them Yankees, S.T.? :D
S.T. Strickler - June 28, 2005 03:49 AM (GMT)
Until the Orioles start winning again, I ain't talkin'.
Scrooge McSuck - June 28, 2005 04:10 AM (GMT)
I'd hate to hear that, because this topic will be even more dead until August 13th.

Was this last year's (2004's) version? Then it probably had Brian Bohanon and two rookies (Grabow and Johnston) on the bullpen roster. Plus, every game with Kip Wells needs to have him yanked in the top of the fifth.
S.T. Strickler - June 29, 2005 02:27 AM (GMT)
Yo Scrooge, how 'bout them Yankees? Six words for you:
Brian Roberts. Walk-Off Home Run!
