Sources have confirmed to Between The Ropes the following details on TNA Wrestling's television future.

This Tuesday's TNA Impact tapings on May 31 at Universal Orlando are cancelled. With the Fox Sports Net deal expiring this weekend, television will go dark temporarily.

As we've speculated all week, TNA will begin on Monday nights in prime time on WGN from 8:00pm - 10:00pm ET. The start date on WGN will be the day after Slammiversary - Monday, June 20.

The WGN show will air live every other week on Monday's from Universal Orlando. Shows will be taped on Tuesday's to then air the following week. The first live show will be Monday, June 20 with a taping on June 21 to air on Monday, June 27 on WGN.

TNA should make an official announcement imminently.

This could be good, but it would be better if they were making plans to leave Universal soon. That studio is death.

Scrooge McSuck - May 27, 2005 05:30 PM (GMT)
... Oy. I both want to jump for joy, but am sad that I have to worry about missing something good. (buys another VCR) Damn you, WGN!

whitemilesdavis - May 27, 2005 05:44 PM (GMT)
VCR's only cost about $30 nowadays. Be glad it's not 1985 where a VCR would cost you $300.

Big F'N Swigg - May 29, 2005 12:33 AM (GMT)
I'm seriously wondering if TNA is trying to imitate WCW by jumping to a "Superstation." The good thing is that if the ratings go up, they have the right to say that they changed the face of a Cable network. The bad thing is, they could be on this network forever and someone wouldn't notice because it's WGN. My guess is that Jarrett is really depending on the 8-9 hour to catch the eye of the wondering channel changer. The problem being that most channel changers don't go to WGN as they've never had a reason before. Unless they were a Cubs fan.

S.T. Strickler - May 31, 2005 02:16 AM (GMT)
Their new TV deal wouldn't be that bad if everybody had access to WGN.

Scrooge McSuck - May 31, 2005 02:34 AM (GMT)
It's the same thing as fucking FSN. 2 states don't get it, while the other 47 do.

dynamite kido - May 31, 2005 01:42 PM (GMT)
But it is a more positive thing than being on FSN still. They have a guaranteed spot every Monday night..........no preempting here. Plus, the main thing is that it'll be cheaper for TNA to do this.......

whitemilesdavis - May 31, 2005 05:56 PM (GMT)
Apparently there is a rumor out that the deal has fallen through at the last minute. NO credible source has reported it yet, though, so keep that in mind.

That really would suck. Hopefully this is all just rumor and they are slated to just be on WGN................hopefully.

Without a TV deal, there is no TNA. Remember, they don't run house shows.

If it wasn't for Slammiversary, there wouldn't technically be a TNA now.

whitemilesdavis - May 31, 2005 06:21 PM (GMT)
Good point, and that has to be a scary thought those involved with TNA. For the last year or so, calling me a TNA fan would have been a real stretch, but I am completely pulling for them right now.

dynamite kido - May 31, 2005 06:26 PM (GMT)
I would say that anyone that is a "true" wrestling fan would be rooting for them too. I am myself as I actually have enjoyed some of the stuff they have done recently.

whitemilesdavis - May 31, 2005 06:37 PM (GMT)
A long time ago, I promised that if the Main Event were decided with a guitar one more time, I'd never watch TNA again. Well, I've broken my promise many times over, but it was a hassle to watch IMPACT, so I usually missed it and therefore wasn't involved eneough to want the PPV's. If they get on WGN, that'll make a world of difference for me.

dynamite kido - May 31, 2005 06:51 PM (GMT)
It'll make a world of difference to MOST fans I would believe, even me. Considering that ever few weeks there is a decent match on Impact, then there should be good ones every week if they have 2 hours to work with especially.

dynamite kido - June 2, 2005 01:04 PM (GMT)
Apparently even though negotiations are still on going, there have been plenty of rumors floating around that they have totally broken off. That is totally UNTRUE.

eStragand - June 2, 2005 10:22 PM (GMT)
WGN still runs the Cubs and White Sox on occassion...so there would still be a chance for a pre-emption.

Methinks most of those rumors came from that cocksucker Nelson from NWA: Ohio who's mad that Panda wouldn't sell to him.

If I read correctly, there was only one baseball game this season that would have caused a problem, and no basketabll games.

You'd be correct on two things then. A) It WAS Nelson B)He IS a cocksucker
