Title: Slammiversary Discussion
Big F'N Swigg - May 21, 2005 01:19 AM (GMT)
We've got a King of the Mountain match. So the main event will suck.
Big F'N Swigg - May 30, 2005 07:41 PM (GMT)
Here's the card:
King of The Mountain Match for the NWA Title:
Jarrett vs. Styles vs. Brown vs. Abyss vs. a wildcard opponent
X Title Match:
Daniels vs. Sabin vs. Shane
Tag Team Title Match:
Team Canada vs. The Naturals
AMW vs 3LK
The Truth vs. The Outlaw
Hoyt vs. Roode

King of The Mountain Match for the NWA Title: Jarrett vs. Styles vs. Brown vs. Abyss vs. a wildcard opponent |
This will be the usual overbooked TNA main event insanity. I would expect AJ to retain, as he's not had the belt that long. Though everything depends on the wildcard. It should be Raven, as no one else really makes any sense unless they bring back the big names.
What I hope: Raven's the wildcard, AJ wins, and Abyss looks like a monster and gets another title shot in a one on one match.
What I think: Raven's the wildcard, AJ wins, and Jarrett gets another title match.
What I fear: The Outlaw is the wildcard, Jarrett wins thanks to Monty and Outlaw keeping Abyss and AJ back, and Monty asks for his favor.

X Title Match: Daniels vs. Sabin vs. Shane |
It's a real shame that this match is all about Traci vs. Trinity and Sabin vs. Shane, and not about "Mr. TNA" Christopher Daniels. The honest truth is that Daniels should be the focus of the match, and should be presented as a champion who's size and experience give him a HUGE advantage over his opponents. Sabin should be hailed as a risk-taker, and Shane as a guy who cheats to win. But we get Dusty's secretaries hating each other, and Daniels hasn't hardly even been on TV since Hard Justice.
What I hope: Daniels comes out strong and takes advantage of distractions from Traci and Trinity to pin Michael Shane
What I think: DQ due to the Traci vs. Trinity feud
What I fear: Michael Shane thanks to Sabin being distracted and interference from a valet.

Tag Team Title Match: Team Canada vs. The Naturals |
Though it doesn't seem like it, I think the Naturals turn has added a bit of freshness to the tag team division. If they play up the loss of Candido in a video before the match, it could REALLY pull on some sympathy for them. I don't know why they're facing Team Canada other than the fact that they're another tag team in TNA. Team Canada really suffers from the constant member changes, to the point where I think the faction has really passed it's time. No one knows who A-1 is, and no one knows why he's named after steak sauce. Therefore this match will lack the necessary heat. D'Amore will do his best, but you can only do so much, especially if you're Scott D'Amore.
What I hope: The Naturals retain, and take out D'Amore
What I think: The Naturals retain and take on TC again next month.
What I fear: TC by cheating, or The Naturals retaining to fight Phi Delta Slam next month.

The Last Free Voice - May 30, 2005 10:02 PM (GMT)
I heard a Rumour that the Wildcard man in the KOTM match may just be the one and only CM Punk.
Scrooge McSuck - May 30, 2005 11:43 PM (GMT)
Pfft... WWE might sign him, since they have been showing a lot of interest in him right now, so that sounds a little too out of left field to take seriously.
The REAL Wild Card will be Chris Harris, because lord knows it's time for his next push... and I don't care if he's already in a match, he's my pick.
D.A.V.E. - May 31, 2005 12:00 AM (GMT)
Lance ~Hoytt~ vs. Bobby Roode will be the best match.
Just saying.
And the Naturals' Mystery Mentor shows up. It's gonna be Tammy Sytch
Scrooge McSuck - May 31, 2005 12:43 AM (GMT)
If it's Tammy Sytch, that would be a fucking insult to wrestling by milking someones death.
Way to go D.A.V.E., you got it right. ;)
D.A.V.E. - May 31, 2005 01:07 AM (GMT)
Hwehhh say what? I got what right?
Scrooge McSuck - May 31, 2005 02:16 AM (GMT)
I meant knowing how TNA works, you probably hit it right on the nose that it's Tammy.

If it is Tammy, I hope she's looking better than I've seen her look over the last few years. I've heard that she's looking better, but I would doubt that she's in "TV shape".
whitemilesdavis - June 6, 2005 02:35 PM (GMT)
I've seen pictures of Tammy from a few weeks ago, and she looked fine..as in healthy and happy. Still much heavier than she was as Sunny. To me, given her past, and present tradgedy, it would be a very bad idea to parade her out on camera. Her role has always been as eye candy, and I don't think it would be smart to subject her to superficial viewers who will no doubt be disappointed with her appearence.
Big F'N Swigg - June 9, 2005 10:11 PM (GMT)
A side note: Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting that TNA is trying to get CM Punk vs. Samoa Joe for the PPV.
Big F'N Swigg - June 16, 2005 11:20 PM (GMT)
Updated Card:
King of The Mountain:
AJ Styles vs Abyss vs Jarrett vs Monty Brown vs Wildcard Opponent
X Division Title Match:
Christopher Daniels vs Michael Shane vs. Chris Sabin
Team Canada vs. The Naturals
AMW vs 3LK
The Truth vs. The Outlaw
Hoyt vs Roode
Samoa Joe vs Sonjay Dutt
Shocker vs. Alex Shelley
6 Man X Division Match:
Skipper vs. Red vs. Sharkboy vs. Zach Gowen vs. Delirious(!!!!) vs. Jerrelle Clark
Scrooge McSuck - June 16, 2005 11:27 PM (GMT)
The PPV buyrate will be something like 15, and 3 of them are probably people from here.
Big F'N Swigg - June 18, 2005 12:06 AM (GMT)
Surprisingly, the card doesn't look THAT bad. Not to mention that the storylines were halfway decent before they lost TV
dynamite kido - June 19, 2005 06:59 PM (GMT)
Time for my usual "bold" post. If you wanna see Slammiversary and aren't ordering on PPV, I'll have it available this week. PM me if interested.
dynamite kido - June 20, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
I watched the show tonight. Not a bad overall effort. RAVEN WON THE NWA TITLE though for those who really care. The X-division match was probably the match of the show along with Joe/Dutt and Shocker/Alex Shelley. I'll probably give it a better write up tomorrow.
Mad Dog - June 20, 2005 06:27 AM (GMT)
I'm surprised they gave the NWA Title to Raven. Not what I would've done but at least Jarrett didn't get the belt back.
Scrooge McSuck - June 20, 2005 06:32 AM (GMT)
RAVEN WON THE TITLE!?! God Damn TNA... you do it when you don't have TV, so I can't even hear about it on TV?! GOD DAMN YOU COCKSUCKING BASTARDS!
dynamite kido - June 20, 2005 02:34 PM (GMT)
Here's a quick rundown of last night's show.
********BY THE WAY, TNA WILL START SHOWING NEW EPISODES OF IMPACT ON THEIR WEBSITE FRIDAY JUNE 24TH.********
Elix Skipper vs. Zach Gowen vs. Shark Boy vs. Amazing Red vs. Jerelle Clark vs. Delirious
-Solid opener, nice sequences, but Red looked awful. Jerelle Clark though looked great in this match. I'm really surprised that TNA hasn't tried to make more out of Clark considering that he can do moves that only he and maybe Jack Evans can do, which at least is a selling point. Delirous did his usual gimmick stuff with it not really getting over well with the crowd. They would eat it up if he wrestled there regularly though and Elix and Shark Boy did well, Gowen tended to be his usual mess.
Rating - **
Shocker vs. Alex Shelley
-Great match here. Nice promo before the match with Shelley talking about how many styles he can wrestle. Nice gimmick for him.........considering they should have used that last time instead of sticking him with the Goldylocks shitfest that they did. These two meshed very well and did a ton of stuff. Good amount of time given to the match and it came off really solid.
Rating - ***1/4
Ron "The Truth" Killings vs. The Outlaw
-I can't say that I was expecting too much out of this one........and I was right. They were doing better than I expected until there was a botched hiptoss that turned the match into a shitstorm in a hurry. It looked like both guys were lost after the spot and they couldn't get back "on" for the remainder of the match. Just a really bad match overall....
Rating - 1/2*
Team Canada vs. The Naturals
-Good overall match as I expected. They played up the fact that a "he" was there to manage The Naturals but didn't come out with them. They basically wrestled a good old school type Ricky Morton style match with this one and did a good job. They built the nice hot tag and Team Canada were the clear heels with constant interference by Da'more. Then the bombshell was dropped on The Naturals new manager..............or not. It was Jimmy Hart and The Naturals pulled out the win with his interference with the megaphone.
Rating - **1/4
Hoyt vs. Roode
-Not a bad one here either as I got a nice chuckle out of the ringside fans and their HOYTAMANIA shirts that are black and white and look like the old HULKAMANIA ones. Hoyt has some real athleticism for a big guy and Roode is at least average. They worked well with each other in this one, but it was annoying with the amount of interference at the hands of Da'more. Roode pulled it out with inteference, and a northern lariat from behind to the back of Hoyt's head.
Rating - **1/2
Samoa Joe vs. Sonjay Dutt
-Joe looked fucking swank in his debut here and Sonjay looked good as well. Joe didn't change anything about his offense and he looked super pumped about being there. He hit his usuals (facewashes, muscle buster, etc) and was pretty over with the Orlando crowd as well. One of the best matches of the show....
Rating - ***
AMW vs. 3LK (BG/Konnan)
-Not a bad match considering that BG and Konnan are horrible. They didn't let this one get more than about 7 minutes or so and basically used it to set up a bad sequence with BG/Konnan/Killings/Outlaw and the possible turn coming. Once again, it was a shitty set up spot and nothing came from it but more confusion on all parts. AMW ended up with the win though....
Rating - *1/2
X Division Title Match:
Christopher Daniels vs Michael Shane vs. Chris Sabin
-Probably the best match of the night. Trinity came out in a pretty sweet outfit and DAMN she's in serious shape.......but anyway......solid work from all three guys and as Sabin pinned Shane, Trinity got the angel's wings from Daniels. It came down to Sabin/Daniels who then got a nice chunk of time to do their thing. Some really good sequences and a bit of an anticlimatic ending with Daniels hitting the angle's wings and getting the 1-2-3.
Rating - ***3/4
King of The Mountain:
AJ Styles vs Abyss vs Raven (Substituting for Jarrett) vs Monty Brown vs Sean Waltman
-First off Jarrett was written out of the show when he "attacked" a fan at the preshow in a confrontation with Raven. Then Raven was named as the replacement and ended up winning the NWA Championship when it was all said and done. AJ was his usual self making everyone look like gold and taking some really brutal bumps in this one. Not to mention that Waltman looked to be working pretty hard as well at times, but this is the worst that Monty looked in a while. That could be for the fact that he may have not been wrestling as much lately, while all the others are pretty much working indies every weekend minus Waltman. Everyone besides Monty put out a solid effort and it made this a pretty good contest. I'm glad I like wrestling as much as I do too, because otherwise this contest would be the most confusing thing of all time to the casual fan. Jeeze. I enjoyed it though for the most part.....
Rating - ***1/2
quick results
| QUOTE |
-- Shark Boy def. Amazin Red, Elix Skipper, Delirious, Zack Gowen, and Jerelle Clark when he pinned Clark with a DSD.
-- Shocker def. Alex Shelly with an inverted cradle. Really good match that was given some time.
-- The Naturals def. Team Canada to retain the Tag Team Titles when Jimmy Hart returned and gave Chase Stevens the microphone and hit Petey Williams with it. Very good souther tag match where Andy Chase was just killed for most of the match by Team Canada.
-- Ron Killings def. The Outlaw with a roll up. Outlaw beatdown post match. He brought a chair into the ring and BG James came in and stole the chair. Outlaw told James to hit him with the chair, but he never did. Konnan came out and attacked Outlaw off and questioned James.
-- Samoa Joe def. Sonjay Dutt with the Island Driver followed with a Rear Naked Choke. Crowd was way into Joe.
-- Bobby Roode def. Lance Hoyt after D'amore distracted Hoyt and Roode hit the Northern Lights (a lariat to the back of the head). Post match beatdown on Hoyt. D'amore went for a moonsault but missed. Hoyt fought back and hit a moonsault on D'amore.
-- AMW def. 3LK when Outlaw came out and brawled with Konnan and AMW hit the Death Sentence on BG James. Story of the match was that both teams couldn't work together. Post match, James left the ring angry at Konnan and almost joined Outlaw going to the back.
-- Christopher Daniels def. Michael Shane and Chris Sabin in an Elimination Match to retain the X Divison title. Sabin pinned Shane with a Future Shock; Daniels pinned Sabin with an Angels Wings.
-- Raven def. AJ Styles, Monty Brown, Abyss, and Sean Waltman in a King of the Mountain Match to win the NWA World Heavyweight Title. |

I don't know if you read my entire review above, but they are going to be airing Impact on their site starting June 24.............all new shows too.
whitemilesdavis - June 20, 2005 03:03 PM (GMT)
Yeah, that's why I said "real tv". I might DL it, but I don't know.

I was thinking the same thing, but who knows.........I'm sure they'll be on TV soon enough.
Mad Dog - June 20, 2005 03:16 PM (GMT)
I'll probably download it every now and then depending on the matches. I'll definately be getting the first episode. Hopefully they bump it to two hours.
dynamite kido - June 20, 2005 03:16 PM (GMT)
Yeah, two hours would be pretty sweet.
Mad Dog - June 20, 2005 03:20 PM (GMT)
I'm interested in where they go this summer. It appears they want to make Samoa Joe the next big thing.

TNA Television on their Website... wow, that's pretty fucking low. At least the AWA held shows in a pink room on ESPN. TNA has a (papered) audience, but no TV at all. I don't know what's worse, but neither is getting good marks.

It's bad, but at least they aren't paying to put it on their website. It's cheaper than it was on FSN...
Scrooge McSuck - June 20, 2005 04:48 PM (GMT)
What happens with Xplosion now? Sunshine network is still showing them, except they are older episodes. The odds aren't great, but maybe TNA will send out tapes for them to air.

I haven't heard ANYTHING about their syndicated stuff at all.
jamiegeist - June 20, 2005 06:06 PM (GMT)
Well, I didn't watch when it was on FSN, and I won't watch when it is on their website, so who cares. At least they're saving money. I'll just keep reading spoilers, realizing nothing is going on, and then move on.
