Velocity

Rene Dupree without Fifi vs. Chad Murdoc (Local Siox City indy worker) The finish came by submission, a new move from Dupree. This could have been a dark match. Not sure.

The Velocity opening took place with no pyro.

Nunzio and Funaki vs. Spike Dudley and Akio Spike and Nunzio started the match off to a loud ECW chant. The finish came when Funaki reversed the Dudley Dog off the ropes. Funaki gets the rollup with the tights.

Paul London is out for commentary and in the ring right now is Chavo Guerrero against Shannon Moore. London punched Chavo a few times.. during the match. Shannon got upper hand until Chavo hit the El Paso on him. Chavo and London exchange words after the match.

MNM vs. Stevie Lee and Jason Bates (2 Jobbers). MNM got the pin in about five minutes. Sorry for no detail here.

They show a video recap of Booker T and Kurt Angle to end SmackDown! last week while they setup for Carlito's Cabana.

Tazz and Michael Cole come out.

SmackDown!:

SmackDown! pyro explodes.

They announce a handicap match for tonight with The Basham Brothers vs. John Cena.

Carlito is in the ring and says since Big Show didn't accept his offer last week, he is going to issue the same offer to anyone who wants to take it. Matt Morgan comes out and they agree to take each other up. Big Show's music hits and he goes to chokeslam Carlito. Morgan comes in with a chair and hits Big Show on the back and the two escape. Big Show gets up and walks to the back.

They show a paid commercial by JBL. (Paid for by the family and friends of John Bradshaw Layfield etc etc). It basically rips up John Cena and his new CD.

They cut to the inner city where JBL is standing on a street corner. He says rappers aren't thugs and that they belong in jail. He reads some of Cena's lyrics and then plugs his own book. He claims his book doesn't have a parental warning like Cena's CD does. (This may have been for the live crowd only)

JBL's music hits in the arena and he comes out. Scotty Too Hotty comes out and it's basically a squash match with JBL beating him all over. He gives him the clothesline from hell but doesn't go for the pin and instead takes him to the corner and starts punching the living hell out of him until he gets DQed. He tries to make him say I Quit but he wont do it. JBL takes him to the outside of the ring and over to the announce table where he beats him with the belt until he finally says I Quit.

They show a video of John Cena throwing out the first pitch at a Boston Red Sox game.

Charlie Hass is shown at a gas station.

They cut to Booker T, Sharmell, and Teddy Long backstage. Teddy Long has banned Kurt Angle from the arena tonight. It'll also be Booker T vs. Mark Jindrak for tonight. Long apologized and Kurt Angle will also apologize or he will be suspended indefinitely.

They aired a promo for ECW One Night Stand.

JBL and The Bashams are in the back and JBL said he would be there tonight against John Cena. Teddy Long showed up and said if he touched Cena tonight, he'd be fined.

Mark Jindrak is backstage with Sharmell. He told Sharmell not to take what Kurt said last week so personal. He says maybe he himself likes bestiality. Booker T shows up and the two start fighting through the backstage area to the arena floor. Booker flips Jindrak into the rail and he's a bloody mess. A pretty quick match with Booker T winning with a scissors kick.

Matt Morgan vs. Delirious (Masked Jobber). Matt asked the guy if he was making fun of him and he started speaking in tongues or something in got a clothesline for his troubles and was then put away with Morgan's finisher.

Eddie Guerrero comes to the ring and just sits there for two minutes. He didn't say a word, then stood up with Rey's mask and stomped on before leaving.

Orlando Jordan vs. John Heidenrich. John did his usual spiel at the beginning trying to find a friend. Orlando came out and said nobody wanted to be his friend and that he was keeping the US Champion waiting. Jordan takes control early on until John comes back with a series of clotheslines and powerslams. Heidenrich hits his finisher (?) and gets the clean win. Non title match, no title switch. After the match, Heidenrich brings a kid into the ring.

They recap Kurt Angle and Booker T from last week again.

They announce MNM vs. Bob Holly and Charlie Haas at Judgment Day.

Mercury of MNM w/ Nitro vs. Bob Holly w/ Charlie Haas. Brutal chops by Holly. Holly hits a suplex off the top rope and they exchange right punches for about 20 seconds. Nitro tries to interfere by grabbing Holly's leg but it backfires and Holly hits Mercury with the Alabama Slam for the pin.

They do a RAW rebound.

They did some cross promotion with "The Longest Yard" movie and rapper Nelly. Nelly did an interview saying he liked Cena's new rap video and said he has potential. He said "it's hot."

Kurt Angle on the Titan Tron because he's banned from the arena. He says he apologizes and he's man enough to admit a mistake. They cut to Booker T and Sharmell backstage watching a TV with Angle apologizing. They say it was somewhat sincere and walked off. Kurt Angle continues on after and says to be honest, Sharmell is a gutter slut. Booker T hears this and keeps watching. He says last week they kissed and she was screaming for more, not Booker T. He says they kissed over and over and she liked it. He said she also fondled his private parts and they both loved it. Funny stuff here. Ends with Booker T dropkicking the TV making it explode.

They cut to Josh Mathews interviewing John Cena in the back. Cena was reading JBL's book and made fun of chapters. He said there is a how to diversify your portfolio chapter, a how to lose the title at WrestleMania chapter, and a How to say I Quit while getting your ass beat by John Cena. He says JBL brings religion into this saying he's a wrestling god. Cena says he may be a god, but he's a .... Josh Mathews cuts him off and says "A prophet?" Mathews then says "Do I need to bust a cap in yo ass?" Cena makes him leave and thats "Man, that's as bad as JBL'ss ex life".

John Cena vs. Bashams. There was a lot of double team action... JBL gets on the mic and taunts Cena during the match. He tells him to Quit abd says Tick Tock Tick Tock. Cena hit the FU on Doug Basham for the win. There is a standoff between JBL and Cena. Cena turns to his back and JBL attacks from behind. JBL chokes Cena with towel and tries to get him to say I Quit.. all he can get out of him is Go To Hell. Cena powers up, sidewalk slam, JBL goes escapes and the show ends with Cena telling JBL to learn more dictionary words including I Quit as the crowd chants I Quit as SmackDown! ends.

No dark match.

These appear to be legit.

Quite a few segments. And Mercury just did double-duty. Good for him!

SamoaRowe - May 19, 2005 03:41 PM (GMT)
Even I don't think Smackdown looks too good this week. Glad to see they remembered that Chavo and London are supposed to be feuding, maybe they'll announce a Cruiserweight title match at Judgment Day...

... though they are more likely to just have it on Smackdown next week

Hmm... looks like I wont have to bother taping too much stuff for my WWE May 2005 tape.

Hmm... looks like I wont have to bother taping too much stuff for my WWE May 2005 tape.

Strange, I've been doing the same kind of thing. But I usually do it by season (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall)...........

Scrooge McSuck - May 19, 2005 05:26 PM (GMT)
I used to do it like that when you were lucky to get 1-2 super vs. superstar matches per week. Now there's usually soemthing good, and it's easy to fill up 6 hours in a month with at least 24 hours of WWE programs.

Of course, without commercials, that's about a few hours less, minus recaps on Velocity and Heat, minus stupid angles, minus Triple H promos, minus boring squash matches...

Yeah, around 5-6 hours per 4-6 weeks sounds right. However, I usually record at least one match for every wrestler to begin with to get all the blood on it, then I get picky. This past week I only recorded the Kane/Edge and Christian/Flair, mainly because I'm a Kane mark (well duh) and a Christian mark-lite... and also record him calling Maria an idiot.

This week for Smackdown... ouch. I may record Mercury/Holly since it's a short midcard match, but everything else looks weak, or something I wouldn't bother wanting to watch again.

dynamite kido - May 19, 2005 05:42 PM (GMT)
I usually just DVR everything, watch it, and if it's up to my "taping standards" I'll throw it on there. I usually only record matches. The only non match stuff that I would tape would be something controversial or shoot stuff (Like the Puder/Angle Tough Enough stuff).

Scrooge McSuck - May 19, 2005 05:46 PM (GMT)
The only thing I've recorded recently that was a non-wrestling segment was Eddie Guerreros Interview last week on Smackdown.

On another note: I find it funny that when I decide to start making these kind of tapes again (I haven't done this since February 1997), Triple H takes a walk to spare my ears of his 20 minute promos.

SamoaRowe - May 19, 2005 06:22 PM (GMT)
I had been keeping a tape like that, but I've been slacking for the past several weeks. My first tape is almost full anyways, I need to start volume two.

Nonwrestling segments that I taped included Batista turning on Evolution and a few other random little ones.

Why does Cena beat a tag-team..former tag champs at that?

Scrooge McSuck - May 19, 2005 07:05 PM (GMT)
Because apparently he's the next coming of Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair and will draw buyrates of 1,000,000+ for shitty shows, just because Wrestlemania got a, :gasp:, good buyrate.

Because they are doing everything they can to keep him over........without putting him over main eventers.

Scrooge McSuck - May 19, 2005 10:39 PM (GMT)
I'm starting to like the Bashams, but... how does going over them get you over? They weren't that over to begin with.

Um......it's one guy beating two. THAT should be something that gets someone over.

Scrooge McSuck - May 19, 2005 10:51 PM (GMT)
Oh really? (thinks) Hmm... uh.... Bu-....

Touche. (eats nacho)

Oh Wait! WWE has over-done the "1 Wrestler Wins despite being the handicapped" so much it's lost all meaning. I long for the days where the 2 guys were actually capable of beating the 1. (remembers P&G beating the piss out of Jannetty at SummerSlam '90 after taking out Michaels)

Yeah, just happy they usually stick to things that haven't been done enough.....like the ref bump.

prof_plague - May 20, 2005 04:10 AM (GMT)
I don't mind all that much that Cena went over the Bashams. He's a newly crown WWE champion over a tag team, who granted are former tag champions, are not all that over.

Scrooge McSuck - May 20, 2005 04:39 AM (GMT)
That's the kind of logic I hate.

THE TWO SHOULD ALWAYS BEAT THE ONE! There should be no argument about this. I can understand when the 2 is maybe, for example, Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman, when 1 of the 2 isn't a wrestler, but a REAL Tag team that are multiple time Tag Team Champions shouldn't be losing to one guy.

whitemilesdavis - May 20, 2005 12:36 PM (GMT)
Yeah, having one guy beat tag CHAMPS, completely devalues the division.

But they're not the champs now.

whitemilesdavis - May 20, 2005 05:56 PM (GMT)
I understand that, but wouldn't it make sense that a team capable of winning the titles could beat any one guy?

Scrooge McSuck - May 20, 2005 06:01 PM (GMT)
This may be old, but didn't the Bashams beat the crap out of Eddie 2 on 1 the night Chavo turned heel?

If so... if they can do it to Eddie, why can't they do it to a guy who was barely able to beat Shannon Moore on Velocity in 2002?

whitemilesdavis - May 20, 2005 06:12 PM (GMT)
Why weaken it all by making it a handicap match? Just make it Cena vs one Basham and have the other guy interfering and what not.
