Title: FUCKING WEAK
Description: Danielson is done
dynamite kido - May 16, 2005 02:38 PM (GMT)
American Dragon Bryan Danielson is gone from Ring of Honor, as he is taking time off to evaluate his career options and may end up leaving professional wrestling. Danielson, a superb in-ring performer, is said to have become increasingly frustrated with the business and is going to travel in Europe for the summer. It's possible he may end up working some shows from Brian Dixon's All Star Wrestling, which runs small shows in the UK, but beyond that he has no real intentions of working. By all accounts, he's burned out on the business right now as he hasn't worked for New Japan for some time, there isn't any real WWE interest and you can only get so far working independent dates, even as high profile a performer as he is on that level.
Ring of Honor covered for Danielson's departure in their storylines with an announcement that he was upset he didn't win the ROH championship this past weekend in Illinois. The ROH announcement noted that Danielson may be leaving the business, which is true, but beyond that it was simply a storyline to address his abrupt departure. If he decides to come back in any form down the line, obviously the company would be ecstatic to have him.

-WOW, this sucks and I hope it's nothing permanent.

I've seen this a couple of times today, and the majority opinion seems to be that it is a work. I wouldn't know. I f this is true, this is exactly why WWE needs real competition. I guy like Danielson would never get pushed in WWE, but if he were to show he could get over in another major fed, like Benoit and Malenko did, he'd probably get a shot down the road.

I've heard news of it being a work myself, but I also heard there is some truth to him being severly burnt out and being a bit dissappointed at the amount of interest the big boys (New Japan and WWE) have in him.

The main problem with Danielson, and far be it for me to criticise the guy, is that his matches take at least 10-15 minutes to build before he gets going, and the WWE simply won't give him that

And the fact that he is very small. I don't think the mass public would get his style at all either.

If they get Eddie, Regal, or Benoit's......I don't see why his would be so complicated.

I would classify his style much more closely to Regal than the other two, and I truelly don't think the public gets Regal.

Get him or not, he's worked for major companies for the last 12 years or so.

Keep in mind Regal is a good promo, and 75 lbs heavier than Danielson.

His promo's aren't the greatest thing of all time. I actually thought that Regal's promo work was better in WCW too.
Seventy five pounds heavier......and he wrestles in a t-shirt. Doesn't say too much......

Oh come on, he just started wearing the shirt. He's been in top shape for his entire career. I like Danielson, I just think his potential to work for WWE is very limited. I would be glad to be wrong.

He started wearing the shirt because his build isn't too great anymore. not to say he's horribly out of shape, but that's a thing that can get you off TV immediately in the WWE. I also think that Danielson's potential to work for the WWE is limited myself.......it's just because they have bullshit ideas and myths that they are going to have to eventually have to get over. Otherwise they won't have guys worth a shit anymore and they will need guys to put over the ones that can't work.
whitemilesdavis - May 17, 2005 02:59 PM (GMT)
Yeah, that's all I'm saying.

I think given the proper opportunity, Danielson could get over in WWE. But that's true of most any major indy worker today. And it relies on the proper opportunity.
I can't blame him if it is true, though. It's not like there are tons of options in indy wrestling. After you reach a certain spot, it's a glass ceiling.
