Title: Favorite type of music?
Description: What's your favorite?
TheLegendErnieRowe - December 4, 2004 05:12 AM (GMT)
This is a hard one for me. I'll probably go with rock, because I find myself listening to it the most, but I like most things.
theintensifier - December 4, 2004 08:15 AM (GMT)
Can't really vote, since I like a lot of different types of music. But I really like country, and whatever category Our Lady Peace falls under.
Real F'n Show - December 4, 2004 06:17 PM (GMT)
I went with metal on this one. Along with rock that's probably what I listen to the most.

Really into classic rock these days.
Skynyrd~!
Scrooge McSuck - December 8, 2004 02:48 AM (GMT)
I like too much different stuff.
I preffer Rap and Rock, but listen to Metal sometimes, some Pop, and some wussy music that would get me beat up.
The Last Free Voice - December 10, 2004 12:40 AM (GMT)
I like Punk, but most of the stuff I like is kinda genre bending, like AFI or the Misfits. East Bay Hardcore~!
dynamite kido - December 13, 2004 07:24 PM (GMT)
I've been mainly a hip hop head for years, but I listen to all kinds of stuff. Lately strange enough I've found myself getting into a lot of late 70's punk stuff (Ex: The Clash, Sex Pistols, Social Distortion.......) and I've just started getting into the Misfits as well. Surprisingly I always HATED the Misfits.............but I think they are finally growing on me.
Big F'N Swigg - December 13, 2004 08:51 PM (GMT)
The Misfits will grow on you like that. I think my wife is starting to like them now. BWAHAHAHA.
I'm mostly a metal guy, with a hint of hard rock and emo, and a dash of country and hip-hop on the side.
But I....Hate.......Rap!
whitemilesdavis - December 13, 2004 09:49 PM (GMT)
Jazz.
Never liked it until going to college as a music major. There I learned to appreciate its depth, and it's been a passion ever since.

I was emo before emo was emo. I listened to Appleseed Cast and Brandtson long before this "MTV emo" came out. I still remember punching a kid in the face for calling Alkaline Trio emo.
Ahh.... High School.

Maybe your just listening to the wrong stuff Swiggy. I know I said I listen to hip hop, but not much of it is stuff that MTV would play.....or even the radio. You might like some of it.........
Also from someone who mainly listens to hip hop, I went to purchace some CD's today......yeah, I got "Nevermind the Bollocks" from the Sex Pistols and Misfits "Collection I".......so I've apparently lost my mind.

Trust me, I know the difference between rap and hip-hop. Reread my post.
The I Hate Rap was my reliving the West Texas Rednecks vs No Limit Soldiers feud.
And YES, I AM A GEEK.

Swiggy....check out my edit ^

Good choices. Have you checked out the Ramones yet? Their closer to the Beach Boys than punk sometimes, but they're fucking addictive. My wife bought me the anthology, and sometimes I can't stop listening to it.
Also, try some early DC hardcore.

I LOVE the Ramones. Great stuff. And the Clash. I need some Misfits stuff though. What CD should I get?

Oh yeah, I've probably been more familiar with the Ramones than any other punk band......well, them and I've enjoyed The Clash for sometime. Also, I like what I've heard from Social Distortion as well......
Swiggy I got the address of a cool site with some punk downloads....I'll PM them to you.

| SWEET! |
I didn't download anything off there except the Sex Pistols, couple of Clash songs, and Social Distortion. Let me know if anything else on there is worth a DL if you DL any of them....
whitemilesdavis - December 15, 2004 02:18 AM (GMT)
If you are looking for early UK punk, I would suggest The Damned "Machine Gun Etiquette". One of my favorite LP's ever. I'll never understand how The Damned was lost in the UK punk mix of Clash and Pistols. Sure, the Clash were phenomenal, but I really thought the Pistols sucked.

I'm not really the biggest fan of the Pistols either. But I will say that Nevermind the Bollocks..... is a awesome album though.....

Anyone else think the state of hip hop is really sad right now? I know Goat does ;)
whitemilesdavis - March 24, 2005 02:21 PM (GMT)
Hip-hop has been in a rough state since the mid-90's really. Right now, you've got a few real artists starting to emerge in the genre, but for the most part it's all fluff.
TheGreatWhiteChoate - April 18, 2005 03:43 AM (GMT)
i think hip hop's as good as it's ever been right now, but you just gotta dig for it. guys like talib kweli, immortal technique, and c-rayz walz are all pretty tight.
