Title: Your Dream Matches
Description: Any Era

prof_plague - April 29, 2005 09:29 PM (GMT)
That's right. You're dream matches. You can pick anybody from anytime, any company, et cetera. I would prefer to see wrestlers who at least overlapped each other time-wise, or at least close to it. i.e. no 1975 Andre vs. Big Show, but if that floats your boat, then go for it. :)

One match that came to me these past few days:

Raven and Steven Richards vs. Second City Saints

I'll post some more a little later.

Also, feel free to include matches from your EWR games that may have inspired you to want to see these matches.

Scrooge McSuck - April 29, 2005 09:32 PM (GMT)
Suggestion... for Independent wrestlers, how about explaining who they are, and why the match is a dream match? Usually the point of these is discussion, and just randomly listing "matches" isn't really discussing anything.

BTW, who the hell are the Something Saints?

Okay, with this Scrooge just entered my "Punch you in the face" list

Shoot, you're right! Damn you and your post-whoring, how you catch up with me so! Thanks for adding that in.

Raven and Steven Richards vs. Second City Saints (CM Punk and Colt Cabana) would more of just be a major mark-out moment for me, more than anything else. It could be any type of match and I would remember it as one of the greatest matches ever, just because. All of them are talented wrestler who seem like they could work well together and have an interesting, but good chemistry in-ring. Also, Punk and Cabana are younger, uprising wrestlers, while Raven and Richards are older and more experienced in-ring.

Now, this match has sort of happened now that I think of it. Raven and Punk had a bunch of one-on-one matches, including a dog collar match and a Clockwork Orange Cage of Fun match (or something like that). Raven has been tag team partners with Daniels against SCS, but a match I've only seen the ending to.

I'm used to more pretentious boards that know the Second City Saints and forgot you are very WWE based, which is still good. I haven't seen as much indy wrestling, but I know some of the names. So, I know where you're coming from.

TehDoct0r - April 29, 2005 10:01 PM (GMT)
That match increases its likeability ten fold if Ace Steel chases Beaulah around on the outside.

Scrooge McSuck - April 29, 2005 10:05 PM (GMT)
Interesting topic... I think I've dropped one here and there over the past few months concerning current WWE Rosters.

Hulk Hogan vs. Kane I would love to see, even though the match quality would be not too good. Hogan always semmed to feud with the big unstopable monsters during his first World Title run(s), and Kane is kinda like the Undertaker, except he actually is willing to lose to people more than once a decade.

I figured we could expand and see what we got. Make it more interesting.

That's one reason why I like Kane, and don't like Undertaker, even as a face.

Scrooge McSuck - April 29, 2005 10:11 PM (GMT)
To add to my post, A.J. Styles vs. Chris Benoit would own all sorts of ass if both guys are on their A game and had a good amount of time to work with.

I just want to see Ultimate Warrior wrestle anyone, because he's so crazy I can't help but be entertained.

I'd really like to see a Rey Mysterio and John Cena vs. JBL and Big Show match....I just think it would be really interesting to watch. Though I know most will disagree with me.

I gotta say, Kane could have been huge as an opponent for Hogan in the 80's.

Real F'n Show - May 1, 2005 02:02 AM (GMT)
Ricky Steamboat vs. Chris Benoit
Doesn't really need much explaining, just two of the greatest wrestlers ever going toe to toe. Vicious chops ala the Steamboat/Flair wars, a hot crowd, Benoit maybe dicking it up a little with some heel tactics to get the crowd behind the best babyface ever, etc.

Bret Hart vs. Eddie Guerrero
I don't think this one ever happened, although I could be wrong. I just think these two could have an outstanding match. Especially Eddie cerca 1997 vs. Bret cerca 1994. Oh boy, that would own.

The Steiners vs. The British Bulldogs
Argueably the two greatest tag teams ever. This one would just be a blast to watch with everyone in their prime. In my fantasy world they could go all feudy and have a series of matches. Maybe throw in the Brainbusters and have the greatest tag team division ever.

Benoit is God - May 1, 2005 07:42 AM (GMT)

Bret Hart vs Ricky Steamboat in 1992.

I know you mean for both men to be in the super-prime (well, Steamboat was passing it, but still could go better than anyone), but they had a kickass match at the Boston Garden sometime in 1986, and is available on either the Hart Foundation or Ricky Steamboat Coliseum Video.

Haven't seen it. Really need to.

I'm sure it's great, but Bret was much better in 1992 and more over due to the singles push.

And Steamboat was great right up to his final match in 1994. :)

Scrooge McSuck - May 2, 2005 04:56 AM (GMT)
I know thats what you meant, but I just like randomly name dropping matches that are quite rare (as in that the two people have maybe wrestled each other 1 or 2 times in their career).

eStragand - May 24, 2005 10:36 PM (GMT)
This is an old (and easy) one for me:

Roddy Piper vs. Bad News Brown (steel cage match)
Special ref: Magnificent Mimi
Run-ins: Ric Flair and four midgets.

..but I'm special.

...And four midgets?

Do I want to know?

eStragand - May 26, 2005 10:41 PM (GMT)
Ideally, one of the midgets would be Shocker's mascot from CMLL. The little guy who wears a blue gorilla costume and does planchas off of the ring apron. (Don't know his name, but he's "10% Guapo")

As soon as the bell rings, the midgets would begin climbing the cage. 15 minutes later, they reach the top, and get flung down to the mat. Piper and Bad News take turns using them as beachballs.

Who would win this match? The FANS, of course.
