Title: Favorite Baseball Player(s) of All Time?

TheGreatWhiteChoate - April 29, 2005 05:07 AM (GMT)
Pretty self-explanatory. Pick at least one player as your favorite. If you're like me and have had multiple, pick a a few.

In no particular order....

1. Stan Musial- possibly the greatest player of all time; certainly a Top Ten.
2. Ozzie Smith- growing up and playing baseball, I tried to be like him. Tragically, I was too uncoordinated.
3. Albert Pujols- a lock for the hall of fame if he stays healthy, and you have to love his work ethic.
4. So Taguchi- Greatest. Japanese. Bench. Player. Ever.

Who's got some?

Rickey Henderson. Hands down. Best leadoff hitter in history.

Steady Eddie Murray.

Best switch hitter ever, and that includes Mickey Mantle.

Barry Larkin
Jose Rijo
Johnny Bench
Pete Rose

Roberto Clemente

People that I have actually WATCHED?

1. Don Mattingly - Donnie Baseball would be a sure thing Hall of Famer if his back problems didn't haunt him so early in his career.

2. Roger Clemens - Arguably the best pitcher of my generation.

3. Tino Martinez - Nowhere near as good as the previous two, but he's always been one of my favorite Yankees despite a all around mediocre career.

I just went with hometown guys for the most part. I'll add others later.

eStragand - May 13, 2005 10:31 PM (GMT)
- Roberto Clemente. Best . Player. Ever. Am I wrong?

- Andy Van Slyke

- Chuck McElroy. Simply because he looks like a Montgomery Ward electronics salesman.

- Jason LaRue (saw him last summer at Coors Field before a game. Dinger the Shitty Mascot was trying to "mess" with him on the way to the bullpen. LaRue threw his gum at said Shitty Mascot.)

- Bob Walk. Ugliest player in Pirates history (barely beating out Larry Demery). 92 NLCS stud. Never wrong with his TV calls.

-Dante Bichete. Most exciting player of the 90's. Diasgree with me? Who else made the routine plays EXCTING? Anybody else would catch the lazy fly..but with Dant it was always an adventure.

...and a buncha' other guys who I can't recall right now.

Good to see when people appreciate Jason LaRue.

Nothing is more entertaining than someone doing something cool to a dickhead in a costume.
