Title: Matt Hardy to ROH?

dynamite kido - April 28, 2005 09:02 PM (GMT)
"ROHWrestling.com has announced that Ring of Honor is "in negotiations" with former WWE star Matt Hardy. According to several sources, you can pretty much expect Hardy in a ROH ring once his 90 day no compete is up with World Wrestling Entertainment. It's also possible that he may make a non-wrestling appearance on an ROH show (as he is doing for Jersey All Pro Wrestling) or may debut for the promotion in a promo or vignette sent in to be included on a DVD release prior to 7/11, when his no-compete expires. I wouldn't be shocked to see ROH conduct a shoot interview with him either."

It's too bad RoH's fanbase wouldn't allow for a Hardy Boyz reunion. There's some money to be made from that and it looks like TNA's going to have the exclusive ability to pull it off.

dynamite kido - April 28, 2005 09:39 PM (GMT)
At first I was thinking the same thing, but TNA would be foolish not to throw Matt directly into the NWA title picture...

Mad Dog - April 28, 2005 09:43 PM (GMT)
I disagree. Hardy Boys vs. America's Most Wanted could pop a good buyrate for TNA. Matt should be a World Title contender at some point but they could get a lot of mileage out of the Hardys taking on various top tag teams of the 90s in dream matches.

Mad Dog - April 28, 2005 09:46 PM (GMT)
Though I half expect the RoH mutants to shit all over Hardy as not being able to work because well they're idiots.

I don't think that this is necessarily proven either. Jeff Hardy didn't pop shit as far as buyrates go and he actually has a big fanbase. So if he didn't do anything spectacular himself, I don't think the Hardyz as a team would be anymore effective popping a buyrate. Also, Matt is the one with all the controversy behind him right now, they need to use that to their advantage and push MATT not Matt AND Jeff.

RoH's hiring practices of late makes me scratch my head. It's odd to me that they haven't brought guys like B-Boy and Southern Comfort in. Southern Comfort especially could do a lot for their tag team division.

prof_plague - April 29, 2005 12:47 AM (GMT)
I so called that. Down to the 90-day clause.

Well B-Boy has been brought in recently to ROH. Southern Comfort won't be brought in for a number of reasons though....

They are too old for ROH and they wouldn't match up that well with the teams they have there. Also, Southern Comfort is a "southern" gimmick that the "Mutants" would hate. Oh, and your right MD......they're idiots.

TehDoct0r - April 29, 2005 04:22 AM (GMT)
They can be idiots, but they have a lot of respect for people that have there shit together. That being said, they'd accept Matt. I'm a big RoH man, and I know I would. Plus, there's a lot of buzz arond their message board about it, and they had Pro-Matt chants during Jeff's appearance.

Mad Dog - April 29, 2005 06:04 AM (GMT)
I'm not talking about must RoH fan but that special breed that descended from the ECW mutants from Philly. Thankfully there are no RoH mutants here.

TehDoct0r - April 29, 2005 01:53 PM (GMT)
A bit off topic, but does anyone else here despise the Green Lantern Fan? I mean, I always found him annoying, but he must be a real dick because in the last 6 months or so the workers are actually pointing him out.

Mad Dog - April 29, 2005 02:00 PM (GMT)
I've never encountered him in real life but from what I've heard of him I wish places would start banning him. He's the worst kind of fan as he tries to get himself over at shows. I was hoping Scott Hall was drunk enough to beat the shit out of him at the Fusion show.

Well then they probably shouldn't complain about him if they are going to give him attention. AKA THAT'S ALL HE IS LOOKING FOR......

TehDoct0r - April 29, 2005 05:06 PM (GMT)
You're absolutely right DK. The thing is, the man has been around for awhile, at least 10 years. If he hasn't stopped yet, he probably never will, so I cope by making fun of him. You can hear a couple of friends of mine badgering him during the Austin Aries/Bryan Danielson on the Testing the Limit home release.

I get more upset with that guy than the usual mutants, because he actually seems like a smart man that appreciates solid work and gets into the storylines. He just has this holier than thou thing that pisses me off to no end.

Mad Dog - April 29, 2005 05:24 PM (GMT)
The worst for me are the people that bother me during the show. Don't say something to me because I just sit there quietly during the show. I'm there to watch wrestling and if that means I choose to not chant, boo, cheer, etc. then respect the fact that I'm doing that.

whitemilesdavis - April 29, 2005 05:29 PM (GMT)
For the most part, I'm the same...and I can't stand people telling me to get in to it.

dynamite kido - April 29, 2005 05:39 PM (GMT)
When I go to shows, especially smaller indy shows I actually do cheer and clap and whatnot. If you try and pull the evasive dick role in the crowd and do the "boring" chants and whatnot.......they will surely do LESS in the ring. This is something that you will learn if you have ever tried to get into the business or know people in it. Yet, these are usually the "smart" fans at shows......or in reality they don't know shit.

whitemilesdavis - April 29, 2005 05:41 PM (GMT)
Don't get me wrong, If I see a guy going all out, I'll give him his props, but I'm not the type to chant and what not.

I don't chant bullshit "Let's go *insert worker here*" chants. It's usually something after the match ( I remember last year at IWC's Super Indy 3 show after AJ/Daniels put on a sick ass match a "Match of the Year" chant broke out) or more like something of that nature. But at smaller indy shows you kind of have to add to the atmosphere. But at ROH shows I'm generally more quiet.

Mad Dog - April 29, 2005 06:45 PM (GMT)
Part of my problem is that I can't really make a cheering sound so I tend to just clam up. That and you tend to miss moves when you start chanting like an idiot.

The last ROH show I went to had a bald guy chanting "Let's Go Joe" when Danielson was in the ring (they were tagging against GN). I wanted to murder the guy. I also lamented the fact that there were dueling chants during the show. I hate dueling chants.

TehDoct0r - April 29, 2005 10:06 PM (GMT)
I dunno, I always see the dueling chants get a bad rap on the net, but I like em. Just because I'm the type of fan that chooses a side and goes hard for it while I'm at a wrestling show. I refuse to conform to the RoH code of conduct, which is cheer for Danielson and Joe no matter who they are working. At Main Event Spectacles, I booed and shouted at AmDrag because he was working my favorite wrestler, AJ Styles. AmDrag stares me down quite a bit and even directly talks to me twice. I was having fun with the whole thing, but a bunch of fans were telling me I was being disrespectful. Fuck that, I can cheer who I want, besides, the man was clearly working heel.

I hate wrestling fans.

Big F'N Swigg - April 29, 2005 10:15 PM (GMT)
The dueling chants annoy me because people chant instead of watching the match. I don't mind cheering the heels, as I do that sometimes. It's cheering the heels just to cheer that annoys me
