Title: WWE DVD ideas

I thought this would be a cool thread. If you were head of the WWE DVD dept, what would you release? Would you do PPV's of the 80's? Would you do all kinds of best of dvd's? SPEAK YO MIND.....

whitemilesdavis - April 18, 2005 04:23 PM (GMT)
I would start with a History of WCW 3 disc set, then an AWA set just like that. Since WWE owns all th footage, I would love to see career retrospectives on guys like Steamboat and Harley Race. The sales may not be great for sets like those, but it would draw the old school fans back to WWE, while introducing some of the greats to younger fans.

Scrooge McSuck - April 18, 2005 04:40 PM (GMT)
Hmm...

I don't think having all the old PPV's on DVD is that important, since most of my VHS copies are EX VQ and can easily be transfered, unless they had some wicked bonus matieral (like build up for some angles).

For starters, I would like to see a multi-disc set based on Saturday Night's Main Event. Classic matches (Rockers/Busters, Hart/Savage, Hogan/BBM), special segments/interviews (the Hillbilly Wedding, some Pipers Pits, the 1985 Halloween stuff), and other big angles (Andre/Hogan, Powers/Towers).

I want a Four Horseman DVD. And a proper nWo DVD.

The Horsemen disc has to happen.

prof_plague - April 18, 2005 06:38 PM (GMT)
A disc chronicling the IC title, one for the Tag Titles, World title, and other major titles. And not crappy videos like the IC title DVD that was re-released by Coliseum.

Mad Dog - April 18, 2005 06:52 PM (GMT)
Several I'd like to see:

Wrestlecrap DVD

History of WCW (5 DVD set)

the Wrestlemania collection

History of the WWF Title (5 DVD set with every title change on it)

Mad Dog - April 18, 2005 06:57 PM (GMT)
Yes, I would pay $200-$300 for a huge DVD set of nothing but WWF Title matches.

Ahw...that'd be great. Anything to see more Repo Man. ;)

Bitch, please. You know you would.

I mean, at least all the top matches with the IC Champs throughout the years.

And you mean you wouldn't want a DVD set for the World title?

S.T. Strickler - April 18, 2005 09:08 PM (GMT)
Two Words: Bret. Hart.

D.A.V.E. - April 18, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
A Bret Hart DVD would have to be at least five discs. Just saying. Buy the Stampede footage off him and use that on one disc. His WWE Career up to the first WWF Title win On disc two. Everything up to WM 13 on disc three. The Hart Foundation -> Montreal on disc four. WCW stuff (the Flair match, his title win) on Disc 5. Hell make it six, an entire DVD with Owen's stuff

Sold.

I'd kill to see a series of DVD's dedicated to dead people aswell. Starting with Rick Rude and Curt Hennig. They can stop after that.

prof_plague - April 18, 2005 09:38 PM (GMT)
Owen=2/3 discs.

Scrooge McSuck - April 18, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
Disclude Rick Rude and replace him with Davey Boy Smith, and you've got me sold. Sorry, but I was never impressed by his in-ring stuff, I was never a fan of the gimmick he used for his WWF run, and I can't remember any promos of his that stood out.

D.A.V.E. - April 18, 2005 10:14 PM (GMT)
Oddly enough, that's exactly how I feel about Bulldog. No offense.

Scrooge McSuck - April 18, 2005 10:16 PM (GMT)
To each his own, I guess.

Benoit is God - April 18, 2005 10:17 PM (GMT)
Aside from the obvious must-happen Bret Hart DVD, I'd like to see a British Bulldogs DVD. Include tag matches plus the best singles work from Dynamite and Davey.

A Bob Backlund DVD would be nice, because a lot of his work is hard to find, but I don't see it ever happening.

Ooooo.....nice choice. I'm always trying to add more Backlund to the collection for sure.....

Big F'N Swigg - April 18, 2005 11:14 PM (GMT)
Best of:
Horsemen
Rick Rude
Curt Hennig
Owen Hart
Harley Race

I would also love to see a "best feuds" series, including but not limited to:
Raven vs Sandman
Raven vs Dreamer
Austin vs Rock
Hart vs Michaels
Sting vs Flair

Scrooge McSuck - April 18, 2005 11:56 PM (GMT)
If Vince didn't hate WCW so much, I would jump all over a Best of Sting DVD. I'm still pissed that instead of using the 45 minute draw from Clash I, they used the Clash XXIII match on Flairs DVD, which was several rungs below the first Clash match in everything.

I've scratched my head about that one since day one.....

Real F'n Show - April 19, 2005 12:11 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't mind seeing one with just great free TV matches from the last few years. Especially from the Smackdown 6, etc.

Scrooge McSuck - April 19, 2005 12:12 AM (GMT)
I don't know... why pay $25 for a DVD for stuff I most likely already have taped for free?

I say WWE should release "Best of" year sets (3-4 discs), showcasing the biggest feuds, matches, debuts, etc. etc. THOSE I would really enjoy.

Because some people DON'T have them taped, or the quality is bad, plus it's easier for the WWE to compile them for you, so you don't have to make your own comps, plus I missed some of it, plus, I'm not as cheap as you.

Scrooge McSuck - April 19, 2005 12:21 AM (GMT)
... that was one hell of a run-on sentence, but I see where you're coming from. I don't think that sets like those would sell too good, though. Of course, I'm a much bigger fan of the mid 80's through the gimmick years when you were lucky to get 1 superstar vs. superstar match a week.

The problem though is Backlund has almost no name value with WWE fans. I'm sure most don't know who he is because WWE never (or rarely) hypes anything he did. They probably don't see any money in it.
