Title: Book the "Complete Summerslam Card"
Description: Rules Inside

Scrooge McSuck - April 14, 2005 03:13 PM (GMT)
I'm sure everyone has come across one of the millions (and millions) of tired "All-Time Wrestlemania Card" topics from all over the internet. I thought Summerslam should get it's due and see what people would do for it, so hopefully we get a nibble.

Rules Are Simple:
1. You must use 1 match (and 1 match only) from each of the Summerslam PPV's
2. You can only use a wrestler once (different gimmicks don't count as different people)
3. You can only use a Championship once.
4. Pretty short list of rules.

I'll have mine posted later since I've never done a Summerslam card, and need time to sthink.

My Complete Summerslam Card:
1988: The British Bulldogs vs. The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers
- The first ever Summerslam match, and it wasn't too bad.

1989: The Hart Foundation vs. The Brain Busters
- Awesome match to open the 1989 PPV with, and thankfully it was non-title so I could get it on here.

1990: Hulk Hogan vs. Earthquake
- Wanted to get Hogan on the show, and all previous matches include the same 2 people involved in another selection.

1991: (Million Dollar Title) Ted Dibiase © vs. Virgil
- I still can't believe how over Virgil was here, and WWE really missed the boat on him.

1992: WWF Championship: Randy Savage © vs. Ultimate Warrior
- Awesome angle that should've lead to something bigger than Savage losing the title days later to Ric Flair and then doing nothing afterwards.

1993: Marty Jannetty vs. Ludvig Borga
- Wanted to get Jannetty on here, but this was the best I could do... being squashed by the Finnish Enviromentalist.

1994: Womens Title: Alundra Blayze © vs. Bull Nakano
- Pretty awesome match, and only thing left that I would want to use.

1995: 1-2-3 Kid vs. Hakushi
- I must've used at least half of the opening matches from Summerslam History.

1996: Savio Vega vs. Owen Hart
- Just wanted to get Owen Hart on the card, and this was the last show available.

1997: Goldust vs. Brian Pillman
- Filler.

1998: Intercontinental Title: The Rock © vs. Triple H
- The match that made both men as legit title threats to the World Championship.

1999: Hardcore Title: Big Bossman © vs. Al Snow
- Entertaining match to use for the Hardcore Title.

2000: Jerry Lawler vs. Tazz
- I didn't have anything else on here that I cared about, so Lawler gets a pass onto the card.

2001: Chris Jericho vs. Rhyno
- See everything else that has no explanation: To get Jericho on the card.

2002: Rey Mysterio vs. Kurt Angle
- Great match, and wanted to get them both on the card somewhere.

2003: (No DQ) Rob Van Dam vs. Kane
- Wanted to get Kane on here without burning through someone else, and he basically squashes RVD. :)

2004: RAW World Title: Chris Benoit © vs. Randy Orton
- Only match left to use the RAW Heavyweight Title, and wanted Benoit on the card too, so I killed two birds with 1 stone.

Harder than I thought it would be. I am ignoring the split brand championships because I think outside of context they are stupid and just going with the traditional IC/Tag/WWF Championships format with a Women's and Euro title match thrown in also.

1988- Jacques Rougeau & Raymond Rougeau vs. Davey Boy Smith & Dynamite Kid
1989- Andre the Giant & Akeem & Big Bossman vs. Ax & Smash & Hacksaw Jim Duggan
1990- Randy Savage vs. Dusty Rhodes
1991- Intercontinental Championship: Mr. Pefect vs. Bret Hart
1992- Ted Dibiase & IRS vs. Hawk & Animal
1993- Tag Team Championship: Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner vs. Tom Prichard & Jimmy Del Ray
1994- Women's Championship: Bull Nakano vs. Alundra Blayze
1995- Barry Horowitz vs. Skip
1996- Mankind vs. Undertaker
1997- Brian Pillman vs. Goldust
1998- Europeon Championship: D'Lo Brown vs. Val Venis
1999- Edge & Christian vs. Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy vs. Mideon & Viscera vs. Droz & Prince Albert vs. Faarrooq & Bradshaw vs. Bob Holly & Crash Holly
2000- 2/3 Falls: Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho
2001- WWF/E Championship: Steve Austin vs. Kurt Angle
2002- Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels
2003- Kane vs. Rob Van Dam
2004- Bubba Dudley & D-Von Dudley & Spike Dudley vs. Rey Mysterio & Paul London & Billy Kidman

I have absolutely zero attachment to Kane vs. Van Dam, Pillman vs. Goldust (other than just preserving the Brian Pillman in WWF legacy) or Savage vs. Dusty, just needed something to fill the spots. I didn't love the Mankind vs. Undertaker match really but it was an excuse to get Mick and the perpetually awesome Paul Bearer on the show. I think pretty much everything from 2003 sucked so it was just a matter of picking something that fit. The Benoit and Austin matches I feel are strongest on the whole entire card. The Heavenly Bodies vs. Steiners tag match is one seriously underpimped match. Chris Candido is better than everyone and that Horowitz match is fine wrestling. I thought the tag team gauntlet from 1999 was actually a lot of fun and very nicely paced, so on a show where nothing else was all that good, that at least gave me an excuse to put the Hardyz on the show. Total wrestler count: 58.

I almost used the same 6-man from 1989 as you, then realized I didn't use Bret Hart, and remembered the opener ruled.

I really wanted to use the Horsemen/Harts tag match, but the Intercontinental Title match was actually the last one I picked. I had the whole thing booked and then realized I didn't have an IC title match! So then I switch Bret's match from '89 to '91.
