Title: The DWB TV Discussion Thread
Description: April 11th-17th
Scrooge McSuck - April 12, 2005 01:03 AM (GMT)
WWE starts the show with the entire womens division... (turns TV off)
Edit: That "leg drop" looked mighty fucking stiff. (McMahon hands her another $50,000)
Edit #2: Heel Trish is even more awesome and hotter.
Edit #3: What creative WWE booking... the Bimbo pins Molly, but the previous defeat isn't even recognized.
KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE~!
Scrooge McSuck - April 12, 2005 01:16 AM (GMT)
Wow... I'm sure most women stand in front of a camera man half naked, but when Kane comes in after Trish, they suddenly cover up...
LOGIC IN WWE~!
Edit: Time for the Annual Hurricane Burial from Triple H.
Wait... ROSEY AND HURRICANE BEATING UP HUNTER?!?!?
Scrooge McSuck - April 12, 2005 01:48 AM (GMT)
STING IS IN THE CROWD!.... oh wait, it's someone with a mask. Dig the heat for Chris Masters... and that ultra-loud BORING chant! This guy is amazing! He has the ability to suck and blow at the same time!
$1,000 to escape the Full Nelson? WOW! Whatever happend to the $15,000+ total?
Scrooge McSuck - April 12, 2005 02:23 AM (GMT)
Hogan and HBK vs. Hassan and Davari at BAcklash!!?!?!?!!!!!
(cums 2040-4390237 times)
prof_plague - April 12, 2005 02:33 AM (GMT)
Kane and Lita make-out. I shuddered to no end. Although I bet you enjoyed it. ;)

So Hassan finally gets jobbed out.
We should just rename this the WCW folder.
Scrooge McSuck - April 12, 2005 02:38 AM (GMT)
I hate Shawn Michaels... but Hogan and HBK as a team? God damn, the mark out value makes me want to order NOW.
Mad Dog - April 12, 2005 02:40 AM (GMT)
I think it's fucking stupid. Hassan is fucked in this match. Shawn was already not going to put him over and now you've got Hogan who's value is in dream matches and not putting guys over.
You have Marty Jannetty who was megaover and earned a contract by working his ass off and he has yet to be seen again on tv.
Scrooge McSuck - April 12, 2005 02:44 AM (GMT)
The fans asked for 1 more match (quite loudly at the HoF ceremony), and shockingly enough, Vince is actually doing it.
Hassan is so over, the crowds chant "What" during his promos. That's really taking someone serious.

It'll be interesting to see live. Although...I have to say, even though I don't really want to see Hogan wrestle now...it'll be exciting to see him.
Scrooge McSuck - April 12, 2005 02:47 AM (GMT)
I say I should take over the moderating of the WWE Folder. Equal chance Mod I am. :D
prof_plague - April 12, 2005 02:52 AM (GMT)
Could there be a Benjamin vs. Jericho match at Backlash?
Scrooge McSuck - April 12, 2005 03:03 AM (GMT)
Triple H vs... J.R. at MSG!!!
This time it won't be JRKO or Just Rhyno.
Mad Dog - April 12, 2005 03:11 AM (GMT)
Wow Triple H beating up JR.
That's so original they've only done it 3 million times.
Mad Dog - April 12, 2005 03:22 AM (GMT)
I also like that HHH's ego can no longer be fed by just one wrestler at a time.
Scrooge McSuck - April 12, 2005 03:31 AM (GMT)
Yeah... the Annual Hurricane Burial turned into a Handicap Slaughter... with the Handicapped being the team of 2!
dynamite kido - April 12, 2005 05:44 AM (GMT)
Besides Xian/Benoit, this was easily the worst RAW this year.

Thoughts
I liked this show.
Women's match was good, and Christy was actually bearable in there today. Remember, Trish was FUCKING horrible when she first managed T and A. Give Christy a chance at least.
The Orton thing was well done. Explaining why he is gone, and opening an insta-feud with Batista upon his return.
Kane chasing Trish is weird, as Trish is getting way too over with the fans, cause she kicks ass, and Kane-Lita are looking more and more like Woody Harrelsoon and Juliet Lewis in Natural Born Killers. Which could be fun if they run with it - but for now, it is confusing and annoying. They cut Matt, just when they decide to acknowledge the Kane-Lita thing again.
Hurricane really could've used a pin here. But no. This is just fuckin silly, Triple H going over a tag team that got the jump on him. And Why the fuck was Hebner just standing there like a shithead when Hurricane hit the (Matt Hardy) legdrop.
Masters looked slightly better, but obviously is not ready for TV. This is so fuckin stupid.
Okay, Daivari just showed he is 100% better talent and prospect than Hassan in one match than Hassan has been able to do in the however-the-hell-long-its-been since he came on the scene. Them as a tag team has big promise though. Although Rockers v Daivari/Hassan seemed automatic.
Frankly, they can't even use Marty now. One of the last dream-tag-teams remaining in the world, HBK-Hogan, will really overshadow anything Jannetty can do involved with Michaels in the next year or so.
Jericho-Shelton had no crowd, for whatever reason. People just wont get behind Shelton on the mic, but love him in the ring. I feel like they're backed into a corner with him, and have nowhere to go. They might have to turn him, although I don't like that either. When he talks, he just sounds like an early Rock. Full of himself, rightfully so.
Benoit/Christian bored me in spots, but really got going after a while. Christian actually winning had me in pretty good markout mode, as I believe it has been a good year or so since he picked up a singles win on TV. I really expected Benoit to kick out of that Un-prettier. Edge was great on the announcing through the whole thing, and Edge-Benoit should be good.
An annoying trend, speaking of Edge-Benoit. The roster is quite depleted and locked. Anything they put on PPV is most likely something we've seen on TV. That just doesnt sell pay per views. They can't keep anyone seperate because there seems to be no in between. Not sure of my point, but it is an annoying trend. On both Raw and Smackdown.
Batista's interview was lame, which I knew it would be, which makes me wonder why people were clamoring for an interview last week. I'm not sure what you people want him to say. I'm not sure he should say anything.
I liked this Raw. Masters was obviously a weak point, and they need to pull the plug. Or at least book him against someone that isn't a jobber. This doesn't work nowadays. And if I see Kazarian passing out-or whatever it is people do in that full-nelson-in the next few weeks, that'll make me unhappy.
Oh, and I think the draft was created by the IWC. There was never an indication it would happen, and there isn't much reason for it to happen. I could see them open a "trading period" or something similiar, where Long and Bischoff make a few deals. The card for Backlash is coming together, so none of those guys are going anywhere.
Benoit is God - April 12, 2005 11:05 AM (GMT)
I loved Benoit-Christian. Benoit's one-armed badassery was a sight to behold.
And he dusted off the northern lights suplex! Marking out, I did.
Mad Dog - April 12, 2005 02:28 PM (GMT)
You know it's gotten so bad with Triple H that I was hoping that he injured himself when he went over the top rope last night. Nothing serious, just enough to be rid of him for a few months.
Scrooge McSuck - April 12, 2005 03:41 PM (GMT)
A few months? If someone were to attack him after a show and cripple the bastard, I wouldn't care.
Heartless since 4/12/05 11:39 a.m. EST

I couldn't agree more. Benoit is seriously proving lately how valuable he is as an in-ring asset to the company.
Mad Dog - April 12, 2005 08:52 PM (GMT)
It's going to be a sad day when they finally fire Benoit.

Oh, definately.
Benoit's been on a role lately. His matches are so much more focused when he has an injury to sell. His matches with Edge and now Christian have been really good.
dynamite kido - April 12, 2005 10:06 PM (GMT)
I would even be quick to say that all participants in the Money in the Bank match at Mania have all been doing well lately. Even Kane. Jericho's character is stale and he's pretty much the same ho hum as we've come to expect, but he still has better matches than most. But just to reinforce the praise here.......Benoit is the MVP of the company right now IMO.
Scrooge McSuck - April 12, 2005 10:08 PM (GMT)
Finally, a good comment about Kane. My work here is done... (flushes 'self down the toilet)
dynamite kido - April 15, 2005 01:01 PM (GMT)
Well Smackdown was pretty dull last night except for Eddie/Angle and the debut of MNM.
I enjoyed Eddie/Angle as it was a pretty solid match. Not better than the Wrestlemania XX or their 2/3 falls match, but solid nontheless.
I was impressed by the debuting MNM and I was rather happy to see them on Smackdown as well. Apparently they are looking to put the tag belts on them already too........so I hope that doesn't ruin them.
whitemilesdavis - April 15, 2005 01:08 PM (GMT)
I really enjoyed Eddie/Angle. WWE has to find something fresher than the ref bump though. So predictable.

Too bad the ref bump was a good spot.........10 years ago.
whitemilesdavis - April 15, 2005 01:32 PM (GMT)
Savage / Steamboat WM III = Good ref bump. 14,000 ref bumps later...not so effective.

Now if only WWE could figure it out.....

Does anyone else think that both shows need an overhaul in the graphic/intro department?
I just watched Smackdown's opening for the first time, and it made me sick

I would agree that they need a total overhaul myself. Plus, the new SD intro and music are absolutely terrible.
Scrooge McSuck - April 15, 2005 05:47 PM (GMT)
Raw hasn't really changed it's look since 1997. I don't care if they slant the titantron, it's still the same fucking set.

This is a match on SD, we can't expect a **** match right there (as awesome as that'd be).

The intro and the music don't really match-up with one-another.

Notice I did say I really enjoyed it. I don't expect **** TV matches regularly, but the ref bump is now just a cop-out finish for them. They use it in every TV match over 10 minutes.
Mad Dog - April 15, 2005 07:59 PM (GMT)
I think UFC and TNA's presentation blows the WWF's away. I would rather the WWF go to a more old school looking presentation. Or go to more of New Japan's style where you see the intros and then the match info comes up on the screen right before the bell rings.
