| CZW Cage of Death report by John Capuano CZW Cage Of Death 6: Dual Dimension Attendance: 1,000 Viking Hall/ECW Arena Philadelphia, PA by John Capuano The ECW arena was simply packed and the fans were extremely hot for most of the show. Some Japan, Australia & UK fans were in attendance. Two rings were also set up next to each other for a War Games style match that would take place later in the night. Dark Matches: Derek Frazier won a two ring battle royal which included Nick Berk (making his CZW return), Jon Dahmer, DJ Hyde, Cory Kastle, Niles Young, GQ & Sean Bishop. I didn't think the show would be starting on time, but when I got there at alittle past 7:30, this match was close to being finished. From what I saw, fans were really behind Frazier and totally against Berk. Kid Kamikaze d.Beef Wellington. Both of these guys are from IWS out of Canada. Match was decent. After the match, Beef Wellington gave Kamikaze's manager a pretty sick looking piledriver. While she was laid out in the ring, Sexxxy Eddy's music hit, which the crowd ERUPTED to. He, picked the girl up off the mat, and took her to the back. --- Match 1: All Money Is Legal d. Spyral, Heretic & Ghost Shadow. Good match. Match 2: Roderick Strong & Erick Stevens d. Alex Shelly & Johnny Storm (making his return to CZW). The wonder kid has shaved his head, and looks totally different. Match was what you would expect out of these guys & the crowd was hot for it. Chris Hero's music hits and he comes out and introduces us to one of his students (Blackjack Marsciano), who will be performing in the next match. Match 3: "Sweet & Sour" Larry Sweeny, Blackjack Marsciano & Hallowicked d. Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw & Ultramanis Black when Blackjack pinned Ultramanis. Crowd always enjoys the Chakira matches, and this was no different. Match 4: Sonjay Dutt d. MDogg20 in a loser leaves CZW match for the Junior Heavyweight title. The crowd for this match was insane and is comparable to the Kid Kash/AJ Styles street fight that took place in TNA a couple months back. Most people thought this was Sonjay's last CZW match because of TNA. It was like someone leaving ECW, only there were no "You sold out" chants. This was a no DQ, pinfalls count anywhere match. A few minutes into it they start brawling into the crowd to a scaffold. Dutt was put through a table when Mdogg20 came off the scaffold on Sonjay. Mdogg then climbed all the way up the top of the arena on a poll, teasing he was going to jump off it, but climbed back down (he has done that spot in the past, hitting an elbow off it through a table). Back in the ring, Sonjay hit his Phoenix Splash splash on Mdogg. Ref was about to count to 3, when another ref (wearing a usual white and black referee shirt) pulled him out of the ring. While Dutt was distracted, Mdogg rolled Sonjay up and the ref wearing the black and white counted to 3. I'm not sure who the ref was, but supposedly his name was Hansen. Anyway, Zandig gets on the mic and says in CZW, referees wear the black and yellow, not the black and white. He ordered Brian Logan (long time CZW referee) to the ring and ordered the match to be restarted. Brian Logan entered the ring and speared the other ref, which drew a huge pop from the crowd. Justice Pain ran down and gave Sonjay a Pain Thriller, which brought Nick Gage out, who gave Mdogg a chokeslam into a backbreaker. Sonjay got the 3, and the fans went ballistic. After the match, Zandig came out and awarded Sonjay with a new CZW Junior Heavyweight title. Sonjay got on the mic and shot down the rumors of him leaving, saying he is CZW forever. Crowd chanted "Na Na Na Na...Hey Hey...Goodbye" at Mdogg. Match 5: BBoy d. Dan Maff in the final round of the Xtreme Strong Style tournament. After the match BBoy was rewarded with a trophy, and it was announced that he will be getting a CZW Ironman title shot in the future. Chris Hero then runs down and attacks BBoy. Zandig gets on the mic, and says the match is going to take place right now instead. Match 6: BBoy d. Chris Hero to become the new CZW Iron Man champion. Good match. Afterwards, Hero goes crazy on the mic saying he's quitting CZW over this. Zandig got on the mic, and said something about his neck being screwed up, but also saying if Hero ever comes back to CZW, he will be waiting for him. Match 7: Super Dragon & Excalibur d. Kevin Steen and El Generico in a SoCal vs. Canada match.. These guys tore the house down and the crowd ate it up. Tons of piledrivers and all sorts of sick moves including a brainbuster on the top turnbuckle. After the match, Kevin Steen turned on El Generico and gave him a sick looking package piledriver. Super Dragon also set a chair up, put Steens head on it, and did a stomp on it from the top rope. This was devastating. How his head wasn't shattered is beyond me. Awesome match. Match 8: Messiah d. Kaos & Adam Flash in a Ladders & Scaffolds match to retain the CZW World heavyweight title. The was a scaffold that was lowered from the ceiling. At one point, Kaos put 4 ladders in-between the 2 rings. He was also the one to go through it, as he was thrown off the scaffold into them. Thankfully they broke his fall, and he didn't go crashing to the floor. Match was decent, but the crowd just didn't care about it that much. CZW really needs to improve the Heavyweight division. Intermission was next. At this point they set up a huge cage around the 2 rings, which took nearly 30 minutes. Match 9: Team Cash (Sexxxy Eddy, Chris Cash, JC Bailey & Nate Webb) d. Blackout (Ruckus, Sabian, Kingston & Jack Evans) to become the new CZW Tag team Champions. This was the first of the 2 Cage of Death matches. There was a scaffold set up across the middle of the cage, as well as small platforms in each of the corners. Blackout defending their tag titles against Team Cash. Someone new entered the match every minute, as it was War Games rules. Maven Bentley and Robby Merino (Blackouts' managers) were ordered by Zandig to be handcuffed to the scaffold across the cage. Words can't do this match justice, as it was just 1 insane bump after insane bump from the start. Crowd was going crazy for everything. Nate Webb was the first to go as he was thrown between a table that was set across the 2 rings. Kingston, who was a bloody mess, was pushed off the side of the cage through a table. Evans hit his 630 off the top of the cage. At one point, Sexxxy Eddy climbed to the top of the cage, put a trashcan over his head, and did a moonsault. Keep in mind, this is a 20 foot cage. Simply insane. Again, words just don't do this match justice. Ruckus then gave him a piledriver as the trashcan was covering Eddy's upper body. With Eddy still inside the trashcan, Ruckus put Eddy in one corner and climbed up the opposite corner, and went post to post, doing a flip in mid air, which completely split open the trashcan. Everyone had thumbtacks stuck in them at this point, including Evans, who at one point was thrown face first onto a pile of them. Eddy was eliminated when he was powerbombed through a piece of wood that was set up between the 2 rings. What happened next was one of the most insane things I have ever seen. Cash and Evans were on one of the corners at the top of the cage. Evans was supposed to be backdropped through a table that was on the floor. Instead, he fell straight to the floor, hitting concrete and guardrail. Fans were chanting "please don't die" before this happened, and everyone in the crowd was wondering if Evans was alive after this happened. Fortunately, Evans was fine after the show, walking around as if nothing even happened. How? I have no idea but it truly was one of the scariest moments ever. Chris Cash gave Sabian a Cash Flow off the top of the cage through 4 tables. Insane. The Cash flow is when Chris Cash takes his opponent, who is standing behind him with their back to his back, and flips them over his head. So, Sabian went into those tables face first. I couldn't tell from where I was sitting, but it looked like Sabian ended up in the 1st row. Match was off the charts. Fans were into everything from the start, and this gave everyone their moneys worth. After the match, Zandig said now that Team Cash are the CZW Tag Champions, you never know who is going to defend the belts from the team. Match 10: The H8 Club (Justice Pain & Wifebeater) d. The H8 Club (Nick Gage & Nate Hatred) in the second Cage of Death match. This match was for the H8 Club name. This was a fans bring the weapons match inside the cage. One of the rings was full of weapons that the fans created. Tons of blood and violence in this match. There were quite a few weapons that had Christmas balls attacked on them. A computer was even used, as well as salt. Fans were really into it though, of course. Gage turned on Hatred. Pain turned on Wifebeater. Gage & Pain then sided with eachother, who are actually real life brother in-laws. Hatred was taken out on a stretcher after the match. Hopefully he's OK. |
