Batista vs. Triple H so far.

whitemilesdavis - April 5, 2005 01:16 PM (GMT)
I missed RAW last night. Was that match booked for sure?

Mad Dog - April 5, 2005 01:18 PM (GMT)
Yeah, HHH came out and said there was a rematch at Backlash.

Funny that if HHH and Edge were reversed that the rematch would've been on Raw last night so HHH could have his No.1 Contenders match on PPV.

whitemilesdavis - April 5, 2005 01:50 PM (GMT)
Ugh. I'm not looking forward to that. They really need for Batista to just murder HHH. Make Dave look unbeatable, while pushing HHH out of the picture for a while.

Mad Dog - April 5, 2005 01:56 PM (GMT)
I completely agree.

I'd have HHH and Flair attack Batista before the match. HHH takes control for the first 4-5 minutes. Batista makes a comeback and destroys Triple H for about 6 minutes, powerbomb, boom it's over. 10 minutes.

HHH comes out the next night for his promo and Batista comes out and destroys HHH. HHH misses 2-3 months, comes back for Summerslam to challenge Batista and loses again.

SamoaRowe - April 5, 2005 07:32 PM (GMT)
I'll be keeping special interest in this thread since I'm going to Backlash.

And I was bummed out to hear that HHH vs Batista was official for Backlash. I was hoping Edge would cash in on his ladder match victory instead. I am not surprised, but I was really hoping we could luck out and not have to witness another Triple H main event.

So far it looks as if "The Batista Era" is going to be just another "someone else holds the title while Triple H main events every show anyway" era.

Mad Dog - April 5, 2005 08:17 PM (GMT)
I'm not kidding myself. HHH will win the title back from Batista at some point or he'll beat whoever beats Batista.

HHH is going to main event Wrestlemania by either being the Champion again or by winning the Rumble and taking on whoever the Champion is. I fear for when he breaks Flair's record because he probably won't job the title at all at that point.

Real F'n Show - April 5, 2005 10:06 PM (GMT)
So, are they planning Orton/Kane? Any speculations on matches?

dynamite kido - April 5, 2005 10:19 PM (GMT)
I'm sure now that Hassan/HBK is going to happen too.

prof_plague - April 6, 2005 04:58 PM (GMT)
We all knew a Batista/HHH rematch was going to be at Backlash.

For my first live PPV...I want a better Main Event. :(

And I want it now!

Mad Dog - April 6, 2005 05:00 PM (GMT)
I've always enjoyed house shows more than the tv shows and PPVs.

Scrooge McSuck - April 6, 2005 05:01 PM (GMT)
Great... Kane gets to put over someone with half the heat he has. (dances sarcastically)

And I want it now!

It won't be the worst main event to a show I've been to as compared to...

Undertaker vs Jeff Hardy, I'd say was about **1/2, not "one of the greatest matches in Raw history" like it was hyped up to be at Raw X.

Eddie Guerrero vs Brock Lesnar, was about **3/4. This wasn't No Way Out, it was a 2002 Smackdown where Brock had to sell interference offense from Chavo Guerrero.

Dawn Marie and Nidia vs Sable and Torrie, was a definite DUD.

Randy Orton and Triple H vs Booker T and Goldberg was actually quite fun, ***.

Eddie Guerrero vs Big Show the night after WM XX wasn't a bad match either. **1/2.

And more recently:

Undertaker vs Heidenreich... was dull. **.

So, Triple H and Batista have to beat *** to be the best main event I've seen live, though the others were house shows and tv tapings.

Mad Dog - April 6, 2005 06:23 PM (GMT)
I got a 30 minute Hardcore Holly vs. Booker T match at the last show I went to. The main event was Guerrero stealing JBL's hat.

That show also feature a 12 minute snooze fest with Orlando Jordan and Brent Albright.

 ...What?!

Did Eddie just grab and run around the ring as JBL chased him?

Mad Dog - April 6, 2005 06:30 PM (GMT)
It was the first Smackdown after the last year's draft. I actually left early I was so bored. Let me search TSM and I'll find my thoughts on the show.

Mad Dog - April 6, 2005 06:36 PM (GMT)
Here's the last WWF show I went to:

Dark Matches:

Carly Colon d. Paul London - fairly boring
Orlando Jordan d. jobber - extremely boring

Velocity:
Mark Jindrak d. Shannon Moore - boring
Billy Gunn d. Danny Basham - pretty bad
Rico d. Jamie Noble - decent, probably match of the night

Smackdown:

Angle comes out and announces the America's Cup or something along those lines. The qualifiers are tonight.

Big Show d. Rikishi - standard match for them

Bradshaw yells at his limo driver. Bradshaw's limo is also sporting bull horns.

RVD vs. Charlie Haas - Double Countout

Angle comes out and says he wants a winner and decides Haas was ahead on points so he gives the win to Haas. Really stupid.

Mysterio and Spike d. Chavo Sr. and Chavo - watchable but too short. Bradshaw comes out and beatsdown Mysterio and Spike and then leaves. Ok.

Booker T does his usual stuff about Smackdown being minor league.

Booker T d. Hardcore Holly - wow did this match ever suck. It went on for what felt like an hour and the damn match would just not end until Booker won it with your standard roll up with a handful of tights.

Dudleys d. Akio/Sakoda - man the Dudleys just do their standard spots for matches these days.

Hardcore Holly comes back out. Lord help me. He wants another match with Booker T. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Booker comes back out and quickly pins Holly with the EXACT SAME FUCKING FINISH.

Eddie shows up. Yeah nice to know you get to the building at the very end of the show.

Dupree comes out for the Cena match. Cena made pretty short work of Nunzio and Stramboli in a handicap match. So we get 20 minutes of Hardcore Fucking Holly but maybe 5 of Cena. Fifi also seemed to be scared shitless for her time out there.

Eddie and Angle yak. At this point I had basically had enough and decided to beat traffic so whatever happened after this I missed.

Could it have been that bad?

Mad Dog - April 6, 2005 06:41 PM (GMT)
30 minutes of Booker T and Hardcore Holly exchanging headlocks only to have a BS finish did that show in for me.

I didn't even get a good crusierweight match out of Velocity.

Can't believe that ran 30 minutes.

Mad Dog - April 6, 2005 06:46 PM (GMT)
It might've been more in the range of 22-26 minutes.

Scrooge McSuck - April 6, 2005 06:48 PM (GMT)
That's still 20 minutes too long for Booker and Holly. (wishes for vomit smiley)

Yeh, but still. May be...may be 15 minutes. I wouldn't see that going much more. If the match turns out alright, then perhaps 17-18.

jamiegeist - April 6, 2005 07:59 PM (GMT)
Even though we know it is happening, Triple H v Batista is not official. All Triple H said was that "the rematch clause was rock solid" and that "Batista v Triple H 2 will be the greatest rematch of all time." At no time did he say it would be at Backlash, or when it would be for that matter.

I hate Triple H main eventing, but as I look over the roster, I see no one else he can establish a decent feud with. Even Triple h has brainwashed my ass to think he has to be in the main event.

I thought maybe Edge uses his contract, so Triple H is pissed. He wants some gold, so he goes after Benajmin and the IC Title. That feud always looked good in the ring. Benjamin scores a much needed feud, and win over Triple H at Backlash.

But that aint happening.

Scrooge McSuck - April 6, 2005 08:01 PM (GMT)
Ignore. I FUCKED UP~!

Scrooge McSuck - April 6, 2005 08:05 PM (GMT)
OK, now that my mind is back to normal and the comment actually went through properly... Hunter is too far above the IC Title, and he knows that. He hasn't even challenged for the IC Title since losing it to Kane at Judgment Day 2001.

Well, that certainly is true. Back in 2002 during the early days of the roster split, there were plans to establish the Intercontinental Championship as the top belt on Raw. That is why Rob Van Dam kept winning all those unification matches to get rid of the Hardcore and European belts.

Only Triple H came along and cried about it because challenging for the IC belt would be beneath him so WWE responded by handing him the WCW Championship and saying "here's a World belt, happy now?"

prof_plague - April 6, 2005 09:38 PM (GMT)
Heavenly forbid they kept the real World Title and keep a sense of prestige and history to it. Granted, two title works out because of the two brands...but why not have two brands and one title that everyone has to strive for? And have the World champ work both shows. ...There's a reason why he's the Champ.

You know what I hate about Backlash is every damned year they repeat matches we just saw at Wrestlemania. How the hell's that supposed to draw money?

"Hey, everybody, here's a half-asses version of what you just saw last month~!"

Even worse because they build up 'Mania matches as being special, big events. 'Mania should be the end of major feuds, not the beginning.

If they really wanted to get Batista over as a monster face, they should have HHH be AFRAID to have a rematch with him, instead of treating it like any other feud, where HHH gets rematch after remacth with no real reason given.

Scrooge McSuck - April 6, 2005 11:31 PM (GMT)
Backlash usually suffers from Armageddon Syndrome. Lazy-ass booking. If something worked at Wrestlemania, why not repeat it again at the next PPV you have to shell out far too much money for?

Judgment Day: Wrestlemania ReMatch: Big Show vs. Akeboner in a Sumo Thong on a Pole Match.

Well, I couldn't agree more with you on the fact that Mania should be all or mostly blowoff matches. I mean, that's what Mania in the past was all about for the most part.

Plus, if they do the HHH isn't scared of Batista then he should get his ass handed to him at Backlash, so then they can at least show that Tista is improving in his position as champion (aka getting better because of the challenge of carrying a major title).

Scrooge McSuck - April 12, 2005 01:25 AM (GMT)
Triple H vs. Batista has become official.

dynamite kido - April 12, 2005 05:43 AM (GMT)
It seems as if they are going to do Benoit/Edge, Shelton/Jericho, and HBK/Hogan vs. Hassan/Davari.

None of this is offical......yet.

Not too, too bad.

I like how Triple H suddenly has the power to make matches. I guess he isn't going to even bother pretending that he doesn't run the whole show now.

Now, I know they're going to rematch and all...but c'mon. Please, do something to the storyline. Something, anything. That annoys me so, so much.

Not to mention that Trips gets to squash two guys in a handicap match and still has the strength at the end of the show to come out and beat on the champion.......

Apparently they have learned absolutely nothing about themselves...
