Title: Jump start Sports Discussion
Description: Or maybe just baseball for now.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 06:13 PM (GMT)
Right now that we are all trying to create more discussion in non-wrestling folders, let's try with the Sports Folder. It's opening day, and only two people are discussing Jose Lima getting his ass handed to him and why the hell Griffey is batting 2nd for Cincinnati. Join the Fun!

I hate baseball, though I'd probably join in on "best ever" type threads.

If I start a OAO NFL Offseason thread and a OAO Draft Thread will that spark discussion?

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 06:19 PM (GMT)
How can people hate baseball!? You sir, are a baboon! Baboon baboon baboon baboon! (runs off crying)

I'll chime in my two cents here and there, but not as often as baseball. Oh no... Griffey tore a hamstring looking at a strike!

I can understand. It's a boring game for the most part.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 06:24 PM (GMT)
No... I have a hard time keeping interest with all the different positions and penalties. Plus I have a hard time remembering player names and what teams they are on, even when thumbing through Season Previews.

Oh wait... it is boring after 1st Quarter. :D

1.) I find it tough to sit through an entire game. It's just a big time commitment that I don't often have.

2.) This steroid crap has ruined it for me. Don't get me wrong, I don't care if the players are injecting steroids while standing on 2nd base during the world series. What I hate is the press' handling of it. It's all they talk about. That is incredibly boring.

3.) Teams don't stay together. Free agency has hurt baseball more than any other sport, (though the NBA is catching up.) I like having the same cast of characters to pull for every year. As it is now, if I'm a fan of a particular player, chances are I'm gonna have to change which team I pull for every 2-3 years.

I understand where you're coming from on all the topics.

Steroids: Who gives a shit? Keep it private if you have to bust people. All day "ALEX SANCHEZ SUSPENDED!" Please... he's a fucking 2nd rate player that no one cares about.

Free Agency: I'm a fan of players like Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte, but don't like the Astros, but I'll watch them (if on TV) when either of the two play. I onmly do that for pitchers though.

This I can't stand. Do you know how many hats I had to buy as a Rickey Henderson fan? Most of my expendable cash in high school went to my hats, then my car. It's just freaking nuts.

You forgot the Red Sox and the Dodgers

EDIT: And the Angels

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 11:17 PM (GMT)
... Shit. You should've just bought a team cap for all of them just incase.

I always thought he produced steadily enough to stick. But no one else agreed with me.
