Title: Evolution
Description: Stolen idea.
whitemilesdavis - April 4, 2005 05:18 PM (GMT)
I stole this idea from another board, but it looked like a good discussion, so here we go.
IF WWE were to reform Evolution now, who should be in it? Since Mania is over, we can assume storylines will be reset, so anyone is fair game. Face or heel, Raw or Smackdown.
Here is my group:
Flair - manager. Time for Flair to get out of the ring, but he can still talk and pull along the younger guys in this group.
HHH - Well, he kinda has to be in it.
Charlie Haas - Time for WWE to do something with him, and Evolution could be the push he needs. Seems to fit the mold well, with a cocky attitude in place.
Shane Helms - Drop the Hurricane gimmick, and go back to being a great worker. He could be the Tully of this group.
Luther Reigns - The enforcer. Admittedly, he'll need more work than the others, but with a little gimmick overhaul, and a semi-regular tag-team with Helms, I think he has potential.
Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 05:23 PM (GMT)
I like your group.
HHH
Flair
Val Venis - as Sean Morley
Eugene Dinsmore
Rob Conway
Dinsmore and Conway would reuinte as the Lords of the Ring.
whitemilesdavis - April 4, 2005 05:25 PM (GMT)
I forgot about Conway. He could be a great addition for Evolution. About Dinsmore, how would you (if at all) explain the gimmick change?
Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 05:27 PM (GMT)
How can anyone call Shane Helms a great wrestler? I would barely call him good, although thats based on his last 4 years.
Anyway...
Legend - Ric Flair
Present - Triple H
Future - Shelton Benjamin and Rob Conway

I would have him pull a Bubba Ray Dudley where he reveals that it was all an act to get his opponents to take him lightly.

I would never turn Eugene unless the fans weren't into the character. When it ain't broke, don't fix it.
dynamite kido - April 4, 2005 05:32 PM (GMT)
Well here we go....
Flair - Manager
HHH - Obviously
Haas - I agree with WMD on this one.
Matt Morgan - From everything I've read or heard about him in OVW....he sounds like he'd be a good "enforcer" for the new Evolution.
Orton - Bring him back as the turncoat asshole.

Shane Helms in WWE has sucked. He was really coming on strong in WCW and putting on some very entertaining matches until they closed down. In the six moths- year that he was out before WWE picked him up, he went back to wrestling on the NC indies, where I saw him a couple of times. I can say without a doubt, that Shane Helms has a truckload of potential.

Frankly, I think it's broke. Nowhere for him to go, so I think you have to strike while the iron is still lukewarm.

You could probably make a monster heel out of the guy if you turned him.

I only got to see him wrestle a handful of times in WCW, and he was alright, but Nitro wasn't the show to watch for scouting in 2001. He's gotten completely stale as The Hurricane, and his moveset consists of punching.

In all fairness, his moveset consists of punching because they won't let him do half of his moveset.
Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 05:39 PM (GMT)
He was miles better in WCW but they really made the guy a big deal too. He had much better finishers to with the Nightmare On Helms Street and the Vertibreaker.

I would say have Evolution "initiating" Maven with a series of tasks. The last one being a beat-down on the poor retard Eugene while he's out shooting T-shirts into the crowd. What results is a sick beating of Maven by Eugene an handshakes all around for Evolution. The next time we see Eugene he has a hair cut and swank pimp-suit ala Batista. Then we get your explanation.
Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 05:49 PM (GMT)
whitemilesdavis - April 4, 2005 05:53 PM (GMT)
Well, Maven is expendable at this point, so squashing him won't hurt, and an injury angle will get him off TV. If WWE wants to do something with him, they could bring him back in a few months to get revenge on Eugene. If not, no big loss.
Mad Dog - April 5, 2005 02:11 PM (GMT)
So would Maven be treated similar to Disco Inferno in the nWo Wolfpac? Those were usually funny segments.
whitemilesdavis - April 5, 2005 02:21 PM (GMT)
Not a bad idea. Have him drive the car, carry bags and what not up until the beat down.
Mad Dog - April 5, 2005 02:23 PM (GMT)
I'd also have Evolution give him a match to win every week so he can get in. Then they'd sign him in matches with guys like Chris Benoit and Kane every week.
I think one of my favorite Nitros was when they told Vincent to do something and he convinced Disco Inferno to do it and then added on that he should slap the guy. I think it was Stevie Ray or Scott Norton he had to do it to.
whitemilesdavis - April 5, 2005 02:29 PM (GMT)
That's funny stuff, and that would actually be a great storyline...which of course means we won't see it in WWE.
Scrooge McSuck - April 5, 2005 05:54 PM (GMT)
Hey... this isn't the Fantasy Booking Folder! Just say why someone should be in Evolution.
whitemilesdavis - April 5, 2005 05:56 PM (GMT)
1.) God forbid we have a discussion on topic with the folder and thread we are in.
2.) Mad Dog is the mod of this folder.
3.) Don't be a bitch.

(moves to Argentina) Only the insane and dirty go to Argentina, and I just took my shower!
Back on topic... maybe don't even have Evolution anymore, because the members will always be in the shadow of Triple H on the Triple H Show. Batista is the new champ... and he didn't even appear until 10:59 ET of RAW. Orton? Thankfully not being put over anyone.

It was a speculative topic. There most likely will not be a new Evolution. Like it or not though, Evolution definitely established Orton and Batista. Both were nothing before.
Scrooge McSuck - April 5, 2005 06:07 PM (GMT)
Good point...
Batista: Named DEACON Batista, teamed up as Reverend D'Von's... whatever, and did nothing.
Randy Orton: Mini program with Hardcore Holly. Too bad he didn't work Orton over like he does most rookies.
whitemilesdavis - April 5, 2005 06:09 PM (GMT)
Well, Orton was out for a while with an injury, so...maybe he did?
Scrooge McSuck - April 5, 2005 06:12 PM (GMT)
He went on the "DL" in October 2002, and was having a program with Holly in May. I think he injured himself fucking up his finishing moves every match.
whitemilesdavis - April 5, 2005 06:15 PM (GMT)
Well, at least now he's got a finisher he can't mess up.
(Remembers when Orton totally whiffed the RKO on Jericho last year)
Nevermind
Scrooge McSuck - April 5, 2005 06:22 PM (GMT)
That was probably the funniest unintentional RAW moment in a long time (since Nash tearing his quad walking 3 seconds into his return)
SamoaRowe - April 5, 2005 07:34 PM (GMT)
My favorite version of Evolution is the one that existed in my EWR game before I started the diary. It was Triple H, Ken Shamrock, Simon Diamond, and Randy Orton. It rocked.
In real life, I'd like it to be HHH, Flair, Luther Reigns, and Rob Conway. I think that would be great.
prof_plague - April 5, 2005 08:12 PM (GMT)
My current Evolution on EWR consists of:
Hulk Hogan - The Legend
The Rock - The Leader
Chris Benoit
Chris Jericho
Rob Van Dam
Real life I'd like to see:
Ric Flair
HHH
Orton
Luther Reigns -The Enforcer (Hehe. He's "The Enforcer" on my EWR game for Special K.)
And Maven for the sake of storyline. I mean...what is he really doing now?
And may be Stratus.

They're all basically people who got mad at me because I didn't use them much.
Flair retired and Orton, Batista, and Triple H were all released. Their stats weren't good in the game. I've been thinking of new people to add into Evolution. I was think London or Dinsmore.
Scrooge McSuck - April 5, 2005 08:41 PM (GMT)
That makes sense... and how can you NOT use Benoit?!?!?! (gets pissed) Don't make me throw the cup!
