WWE/Sony Releases Tenative 12 month DVD schedule
Posted on: 3/9/2005 12:49:22 AM
Sony sent a release to all its distributors last week with a listing of WWE releases scheduled for the next 12 months. There are some incredible titles on the planning board at this moment.

Before you get too excited and ask "how can I order", please note that the list is what they currently have planned as of March 1st, 2005 and things can change. Last year, we were supposed to see a Bret Hart disc as well as a HIstory of the WWF Title DVD (which actually was originally December 2003) that never made it out. They also dropped several planned volumes of their confidential series as well as a Before they were Stars 2 that was on a release chart. Last year, they also changed several disc from one discs to two discs and vice versa. We will put all these titles on preorder closer to their release date to avoid taking orders for discs that get delayed/unreleased/price changes. Typically, we'll start taking preorders 3 months before an actual release. Now....... here is the listing:

June 2005: Judgement Day ,WWE Legends Volume 1, the Road Warriors - 2 disc set

July 2005: ECW One Night Only,

August 2005: Great American Bash, Vengeance, and 2 disc "From the Vault" Undertaker set

September 2005: Summerslam, 2 titles TBD listed as "budget titles", and a 2 disc Ultimate Warrior set

October 2005: Unforgiven

November 2005: WWE Legends volume 2, NO Mercy

December 2005: Taboo Tuesday, Survivor Series

Jan 2006: Armaggedon

Feb 2006: New Years Revolution, ECW Greatest Matches 2 disc set, and Royal Rumble

March 2006: No Way Out and Divas title

The most intriguing title that is listed, but it doesn't have a set release date but is listed between the November and the December releases, "Screwed"! The Bret Hart Story - 2 disc set

Looks like my wallet will be emptying in the general direction of the WWE Legends discs

One thing that gets me here though.....how the hell is that Warrior set going to be 2 disc?

Scrooge McSuck - April 2, 2005 05:38 PM (GMT)
I still think it's going to be the 2 CV's put into one set. No way McMahon would have his company waste time makig a 2-disc set on some dumbass who lives on his planet.

Some weak titles this year. How about a Best of NWA/WCW and have a bunch of matches from 89 on it?

Same here.

What?! An Ultimate Warrior 2-disc set?!

Damn, I'm going to be one broke sonofabitch by the time I'm done buying all the dvds on that list that I plan to.

depending on content, WWF/E Legends could be awesome.

two discs of Warrior sounds pretty painful.

but if done right, two discs of Road Warriors could be awesome. the less WWF stuff the better...

I'm definitely getting that Undertaker 2-Disc DVD set. Hopefully it'll have some of his early stuff in the WWE. Most likely will get the other special DVDs as well.

SamoaRowe - April 6, 2005 02:52 AM (GMT)
It angers me to say this, but I'll probably end up owning the Warrior and Road Warriors dvds because some way, some how, WWE will make me want to own them somehow. They have a way of doing this.

I had no intentions of buying the Hall of Fame ceremony last year... until it arrived in stores and I started drooling while looking at the back. In fact, I feel like watching it right now.

dynamite kido - April 6, 2005 03:46 AM (GMT)
I must say....I am curious as to what the two "budget titles" will be.

Yeah, did they have any good matches in the WWF. I can only think of matches from 88-89 that I'd want to see from the Road Warriors.

dynamite kido - April 6, 2005 01:13 PM (GMT)
Nothing really noteworthy in the WWF. They missed the boat with them because by the time they were in the WWF the Hart's were being broken up and the Demolition feud never got off. But if they were smart.....the Road Warrior DVD would be pretty much ALL NWA.

Warrior did have a few good matches. But then again that might have been because of all the heat into them.

I really liked the UW/Road Warriors vs. Ax/Smash/Crush six man tag from SNME in October 1990 and the Roadies vs. Godwinns tag title change that was billed as the Roadies last hurrah. I'd like to see those two on the Road Warriors DVD, maybe the Summerslam 1990 debut and tag title victory a year later from the Nasty Boys. But far and wide a lot of the WWF stuff was skippable compared to AWA/JCP.

whitemilesdavis - April 8, 2005 02:27 PM (GMT)
I'm pretty sure we'll see Hawk fall off the Titan-tron.

dynamite kido - April 8, 2005 03:20 PM (GMT)
It was pretty much bullshit that Russo did that to Hawk......but that was some of the funniest shit ever on TV in wrestling. EVER.
