Title: The MLB American League (April) Discussion Topic:

Scrooge McSuck - April 2, 2005 03:53 AM (GMT)
The season is just a few days away (Sunday night, to be exact when the Red Sox and Yankees restart the rivalry... GO TINO! (does happy dance).

All game discussion for the American League in the month of April should go here, although we don't have to worry about flooding the board anyway, with such little discussion here. :(

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 03:28 AM (GMT)
I'm really sick of hearing Yankees/Sox all the time. There are a lot of other games out there.

Now that the Yankees won one game we can hear all the New Yorkers jacking themselves off and claiming another WS ring with 1 game.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 03:34 AM (GMT)
Yankees rape the ass of Boston tonight 9-2.

Yankees with lots of great defensive plays (from Giambi too!), while BoSox just seemed to be rusty as a 100 year old tin can. Tino getting a standing ovation for pinch hitting made me smile.

Lots of marking out tonight, and made me realize how much I missed baseball season.

It most definitely is not over.

I can't wait to see the Devil Rays this season, by the way.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 04:44 AM (GMT)
Not much in terms of American League action this week on national broadcasts...

Boston @ New York (1 pm ET Wednesday on ESPN)
Teams TBA (7 pm & 10 pm ET Wednesday on ESPN 2; Could be NL)
Teams TBA (7 pm ET Thursday on ESPN)

For those in Florida and who get PAX...
Toronto @ Tampa Bay (7 pm ET)
Oakland @ Tampa Bay (6 pm)

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 05:42 AM (GMT)
PAX is showing baseball this year?

I have XM Radio so I have all the games this year.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 05:46 AM (GMT)
I'm not sure if it's national broadcast, but they are airing around 70 Devil Ray games while FSN will pick up most of the remaining 92. Stupid FSN...

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 11:16 AM (GMT)
Kevin Brown is already on the Yankees DL.

EDIT: The Royals are officially the worst team in the MLB as Jose Lima is their ace.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 03:41 PM (GMT)
Jaret Wright goes from having his first 2 starts pushed back to filling in for Kevin Brown later this week. Brown is officially done, just trade him away... for anything.

Kansas City sucked before we found out Jose Lima was their #1 Starter (still laughing). They have absolutely no power (or anything else, really) in their lineup (MIKE F'N SWEENY is their HR King), their rotations combined ERA is laughable, their one left handed starter's stats are pathetic, and their bullpen isn't much better.

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 04:07 PM (GMT)
I think Matt Stairs is the big power hitter for the Royals now.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 04:12 PM (GMT)
Good observation... I forgot he was on the team, and overlooked he only played 126 games last year (only? :lol).

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 05:14 PM (GMT)
Royals are off to a strong start in 05 with 2 batters striking out against Jeremy Bonderman in the 1st Inning.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 05:16 PM (GMT)
 Only 1st inning of the season. Probably just getting a feel of the pitcher?

Glad to see Magglio back... hopefully he can help Detroit turn back into a somewhat competitive team. (watching this game until NYM/CIN starts at 2)

Oh Shit, I forgot this game was on, and didn't list it here. Shows how important these teams are. :lol #2.

Edit: ... and "Pudge" with the first hit of the season.

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 05:20 PM (GMT)
I have it on my XM Radio right now.

Pudge gets his first hit of the season.

EDIT: Bonderman is up to 3 Ks after 4 batters but Stairs manages to get a single.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 05:30 PM (GMT)
... and Stairs with the first base hit for Kansas City in 2005. Come on Bonderman... get more K's. Damn Pickering... :(

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 05:32 PM (GMT)
4ks

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 05:34 PM (GMT)
Strike Three! Struck out the side for #5 today. Good start for Bonderman, if I may say so.

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 05:37 PM (GMT)
Dimitri Young hits a homer.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 05:38 PM (GMT)
Come on Lima... prove to us that you're a #1 starter for a MLB team. :D

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 05:44 PM (GMT)
Brandon Inge makes it 3-0 Tigers with a homer.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 05:49 PM (GMT)
Damn, I missed it. Stupid fast food not agreeing with me. :(

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 05:50 PM (GMT)
Make that Strikeout #6 for Bonderman.

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 05:50 PM (GMT)
6ks through 3 for Bonderman. He's headed to a complete game at this rate.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 05:53 PM (GMT)
Lima's ERA so far in the 2005 season: 11.73 :D (I think I tallied right... ER times 9 innings / IP.

Pudge with a double now, and he's got the easy half of the cycle going.

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 05:54 PM (GMT)
Pudge gets a double. 2-2.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 05:59 PM (GMT)
Young homers AGAIN to make it 5-0!!

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 06:00 PM (GMT)
Damn, Lima is getting eaten alive.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 06:00 PM (GMT)
He's getting eaten like a Lima Bean.

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 06:02 PM (GMT)
At least he can get Rondell White out.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 06:03 PM (GMT)
Like that's hard to do. :P

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 06:07 PM (GMT)
These threads should be interesting if it's 50 pages of you and me chatting.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 06:08 PM (GMT)
 It's creating discussion, so maybe some more people will come in when online. (throws threats at everyone)

If these topics get 50 pages, I might decide to splinter them instead of 1 a month.

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 06:10 PM (GMT)
I'm going to try and get some baseball posters. Some of my friends might join up to talk some sports.

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 06:12 PM (GMT)
Lima gets yanked.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 06:33 PM (GMT)
Dmitri Young takes one right in the elbow for a free pass. BOO!

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 06:34 PM (GMT)
The pitcher got booted. Probably before Young decided to eat him.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 06:37 PM (GMT)
Young reminds me a lot of Cecil Fielder... not because he's black and strong, but because he's incredibly fat for a baseball player and were both Tigers. If he would injure himself falling down dugout steps, then I'd say Mo Vaughn. :P

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 06:42 PM (GMT)
8-1 Detroit.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 06:44 PM (GMT)
Kansac City starts the season with a whimper while Detroit plays liked World Champions... who knew?

S.T. Strickler - April 4, 2005 10:18 PM (GMT)
Orioles win another opening day game over the A's, 4-0. Now hopefully they won't have their post-Opening Day losing streak.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 10:30 PM (GMT)
If the Orioles can get enough run support for their pitching staffs incredibly high ERA, then... they will still lose out to Boston and New York, but it's a start. :)
