Title: What NES Classic
Description: Would You Buy?

Mad Dog - April 1, 2005 12:01 AM (GMT)
I'm looking to buy a GBA version of the following games and need some input. I'm leaning heavily towards Legend of Zelda right now.

D.A.V.E. - April 1, 2005 12:57 AM (GMT)
Where is the Dr. Mario link.

The game is damn addicitive

Mad Dog - April 1, 2005 01:00 AM (GMT)
I don't think they've released it under the classics label.

But yes that was a fun game back in the day.

Scrooge McSuck - April 1, 2005 01:00 AM (GMT)
I would buy all 4, but I would go with Legend of Zelda, unless you have it on Gamecube with the Zelda collection, then I'd go wth Castlevania. I enjoyed it... Finally beat Death!!!!!

dynamite kido - April 1, 2005 01:32 AM (GMT)
I actually picked all four.....but I would so go with the original Zelda (Which to me is one of the best games EVER) or Metroid. I used to fucking play Metroid like a madman.....

prof_plague - April 1, 2005 03:19 AM (GMT)
I know I'm likely to get pelted by rocks once I say this, but when I was younger I didn't like games like Zelda. And even now, most forms of "RPGs", I can't play. Or at lest get into the games like other people can. Or if I do play them, I enjoy the fighting in them and not so much the storyline. But then again, that all depends.

::pelts Prof Plague with rocks::

Scrooge McSuck - April 1, 2005 03:31 AM (GMT)
(pelts Prof with cup of semen)

prof_plague - April 1, 2005 04:58 AM (GMT)
Wait? I'm just not an RPG fan. Well, classic-RPGs. May be that just because I've had a few friends and other people I have known that have been so obsessed with RPGs, especially Final Fantasy and D&D, that I just can't hear those names and not feel annoyed no matter how good those games are.

Mad Dog - April 1, 2005 05:35 AM (GMT)
Old school RPGs take a very select breed of gamer to put up with all the tedius aspects of the early genre. I can understand why they were such a niche market until they became more user friendly on the PSX.

Scrooge McSuck - April 1, 2005 05:39 AM (GMT)
... How can people not like Zelda?! (strains; throws shot glass at the Prof)

Mad Dog - April 1, 2005 05:47 AM (GMT)
At the time it came out it was quite different than anything that had really been seen before.

I remember how pissed I was when my fucking cousin erased 2 months worth of work on that game by accident. I wanted to kill him. I only had two levels to beat. And yes I know 2 months sounds bad but no one knew a damn thing about the game back then.

SamoaRowe - April 1, 2005 01:46 PM (GMT)
I still have the original Zelda game but I never owned the second one or Metroid. Those would be my picks.

I'd love to get my hands on a copy of River City Ransom.

Scrooge McSuck - April 1, 2005 01:55 PM (GMT)
That was the fun of Zelda... you weren't issued a map of where all the dungeons were, making it more fun/annoying to search them all out, especially Ganon's hidden temple... and not the one guarded by Olmec.

prof_plague - April 1, 2005 07:30 PM (GMT)
I can play Zelda now, but not FF and D&D though.

Scrooge McSuck - April 1, 2005 07:47 PM (GMT)
I can never play FF period. Too fucking weird, especially that Tactics one that I wasted money on. YEECH! Fun to pass time in battles, but I have no fucking clue what to do otherwise.

Mad Dog - April 2, 2005 12:15 AM (GMT)
Good call on Dave's part knowing that Dr. Mario was indeed out for GBA.

Scrooge McSuck - April 2, 2005 12:57 AM (GMT)
It was released as part of the original set, silly old bear bitch.

Mad Dog - April 2, 2005 01:00 AM (GMT)
I was not aware.

Dave can pelt me with rocks for my mistake.

D.A.V.E. - April 2, 2005 10:29 PM (GMT)
Rocks? Nah

Water balloons filled with yogurt. Only way to go

Scrooge McSuck - April 2, 2005 10:43 PM (GMT)
Creativity is the best... (pulls balloon off) This is going to be fun, muwahahaha (goes to beach)

Mad Dog - April 4, 2005 10:35 AM (GMT)
I ended up getting Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy I & II.

BestBuy.com has most of the NES Classic series for $10 or $15 if any of you guys are interested.

Darryl The Hitman - December 8, 2007 08:23 PM (GMT)
Did they ever release Bionic Commando uner the classics series? I always thought it was a great game that not everyone knew about. :)

Big F'N Swigg - December 8, 2007 08:47 PM (GMT)
I'll join Plague in the "couldn't get into RPG" column. I went with Metroid. Can't lose there

Darryl The Hitman - December 8, 2007 08:49 PM (GMT)
Oh heh I just noticed nobody's used this thread in more than two eyars until today. I just reply if something interests me but is there a rule about not bumping old threads around here?

Don't worry, Scrooge does it all the time and we still let him post.

Darryl The Hitman - December 8, 2007 09:02 PM (GMT)
Alright, that's good. :)

I am fmailiar with people bumping just to bump old threads because they're pranking the board but I never do it unless I have something to say so I should be OK> :)

SamoaRowe - December 9, 2007 04:56 AM (GMT)
I say bumping threads is fine if it contributes to the discussion, which has always been the case with Darryl thus far. It's only obnoxious when it's something like "BUMP, LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11~."

I approve :).

Darryl The Hitman - December 9, 2007 05:20 AM (GMT)
Oh good. The reason I do it is I hate to miss anything so I always start at the back of a forum and work forward and as I reply to what I see, older threads get moved ahead until I get to the more recent ones.

Erick Von Erich - December 9, 2007 05:41 AM (GMT)
Yeah, old bumps are okay...as long as you're contributing. I notice that alot of our old threads are "polling" questions, like "what color underwear do you wear".

They're good icebreakers, so I can see how they'd be fun for new guys to add to.

Plus, for us oldsters, it's fun to sit back in our rockers, smoke our pipe and flashback to the good ol' days.

Darryl The Hitman - December 9, 2007 05:44 AM (GMT)
Oldsters? I'm 31--where do I fit on the age ladder around here then? :) I'll assume you meant oldsters as in length of time on this board.

Erick Von Erich - December 13, 2007 06:56 AM (GMT)
In case you video-gaming kids are into this sorta' thing: I'm selling an old "Legend of Zelda" comic on eBay this week:
