ROH STRONG STYLE TV FOR 4.1.05
We see a swanky new opening video, and we are at the ROH Arena! We head straight to our first match, a Four Corner Survival!
Chris Sabin vs Izzy vs Jack Evans vs Jimmy Jacobs.
Crowd is solidly behind Jacobs here. Typical spot oriented match, but a fun one. Everyone looked crisp here, particularly Evans. They do the “Swing Evans around and have Jacobs Dropkick him” spot. And the trainwreck spot went Izzy with a Moonsault Con Hilo onto Sabin, Jacobs with a Tope Suicida onto them, and Evans with a Phoenix Splash to the outside onto ALL of them. Nice pop for that. Finish sequence went Sabin gives Izzy Cradle Shock, broken up by Jacobs who hits the Contra Code, Pin broken up by a 630, which gets the win for Jack Evans.

We come back and see the Second City Saints of Punk and Cabana are backstage. They have words for the Ring Crew Express. Punk is INTENSE~! And Cabana is FUNNY~! And the Saints say the RCE has no chance of winning. Okay then.
And now we get a video hyping the debut of Team Chismo, Super Dragon and Excalibur. They’ll be in action next week, against Jimmy Jacobs and BJ Whitmer as part of the tag tourney.
::Commercial::
We’re back in time for the #1 Contendership for the Pure Title!
Spanky vs Jimmy Rave.
Spanky dominated this one, but Rave managed not to look outclassed. Typical back and forth stuff, and Rave cheats to take over. He gets two off of a Northern Lights Bomb, and the crowd starts to think he may do it. He whiffs on the Shining Wizard and Eats Mister Teeth for two. A few minutes later a Sliced Bread #2 finishes it. Decent match, but nothing special.
And The WORLD CHAMP Austin Aries is in the back, and cuts a promo saying he doesn’t care who his opponent is at Breakdown.
Second City Saints III vs Ring Crew Express.
This was a slaughter. The RCE got some token offence in, but they had no chance, and the crowd knew it. Finish saw Punk nail the Plunge on Marcos. Nothing to see here at all.
Next week there will be TWO matches in the tag tourney, and Spanky-Leathal!
Big F'N Swigg - March 31, 2005 02:49 AM (GMT)
I can't believe you let Jack Evans beat Jimmy Jacobs and Chris Sabin
SamoaRowe - March 31, 2005 03:32 AM (GMT)
Sucks that you lost Samoa Joe :( It's hard to imagine ROH without him right now, though I guess that could be a good thing as your diary will be entering unfamiliar territory.

The Last Free Voice - March 31, 2005 08:54 PM (GMT)
ROH STRONG STYLE TV FOR 4.8.05
From the ROH Arena
We get the opening video and head straight to:
Havana Pitbulls vs Sacrifice Theory.
Sacrifice Theory are two kids (they look about 19 max) who pretty much look like your typical “goth” kids. Misfits makeup and Devil Locks ahoy. They’re accompanied by Alexis Laree, who gets a small pop, and they come out to Sacrifice Theory by AFI. (Wow, shocking!)
And apparently these kids have balls, as they dropkick the Pitbulls off the apron to start then follow with duel dives! (Nyteshade, apparently the leader of the group, hits a Moonsault con Hilo while Martin, who is slightly bigger and kind of looks like Chris Hero, hits a tope suicida) That got the crowds attention. They roll Rocky back in and hit a double team Blue Thunder Driver/neckbreaker for a near fall!
They kinda go on for a couple of minutes, with Nyteshade pretty much in control, but then he goes for another dive and EATS KICK! He looks to be OUT. They roll him back in the ring and basically start killing him dead with knee strikes and whatnot. They kinda do a face-in-peril thing, although it’s never clear if he’s supposed to be a face or not, and they even get a hot tag. Nothing really comes of it though, as Martin gets demolished with a double Yakuza Kick and Nyteshade gets tossed into the third row of seats, and the pin is academic. A good match though, but the fans really didn’t have much of a reason to care for the Goth Kids.
::Commercial::
CM Punk has the mic, and he cuts a promo on Low Ki, hyping his match tonight. Saints are better than the Rotts, Low Ki is the Kung Fu Mr. Clean, Yadayadayada. Typical Punk promo, which isn’t bad in the slightest.
We now go to:
Team Chismo vs BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs.
Jimmy Jacobs dies. A lot. There’s the match. Oh, you want more? Well, Jacobs and Excalibur do some comedy, Whitmer and Super Dragon do some strong style stuff, then Jacobs dies. Repeatedly. At length. He ends up eating Psycho Driver 2 for the Team Chismo win. Crowd loved the So-Cal guys, and Jacobs. Whitmer still has no heat.
::Commercial::
ROH PURE TITLE MATCH: Spanky vs Jay Leathal ©.
This was a good match. Typical matwork and striking mixed in with some big moves. Leathal managed to hang with Spanky quite well, which slightly surprised me. Once again, the crowd didn’t quite know who to cheer for, so it was somewhat dead. Finish saw Leathal win with a Crossface variation while Spanky used his last rope break, then slapped it back on to get the tap. Post match they shake hands, but JIMMY RAVE runs in and just KILLS Leathal with a THUDDING WIZARD after a kneecap dropkick. Spanky stands up for Leathal, and EATS CANVAS on a Northern Lights Bomb! The Crowd really got on Rave after that, and that could be the first step in getting him over for good.
::Commercial::
Austin Aries is backstage, and Bryan Danielson approaches and informs him that HE will be the challenger for the Title at Breakdown. Aries says to watch his back. Okay then.
CM Punk vs Low-Ki.
This is a TV MOTYC for sure. Could be low end MOTYC. It just told a really great story, with both guys trying to 1 up each other. Punk also had a strategy, in trying to take out Ki’s legs. Ki, for the most part, is content to just wear down Punk with the most vicious strikes he can muster.
But the only thing that kind of mares this one is the finish. Ki goes low and rolls Punk up with his tights for the win. Punk just shoots him a “I can’t BELIEVE you got me with that.” Look, and we know this isn’t over.
A few cool spots to note: At one point Ki went for a Shining Wizard, and Punk counters it into an STF, which I thought was nifty. Ki countering out of the Devil Lock DDT into a Lyger-Kick was neat too. They teased a Pepsi Plunge, which had the fans HOT. They didn’t quite like the finish though, but I can’t blame them. Interesting note, these two could meet in the Tag Tourney, if their teams keep winning… We’ll have to wait and see.
Next week expect more out of the Tourney and updates on Breakdown!

STRONG STYLE TV UPDATE!
This weeks SSTV will see the Tag Tourny Continue as Gen Next (Strong and Evans) take on Team GCW of Sydal and Delirious!
Prince Nana has said Jimmy Rave wants the next Pure Title shot, and this week he'll get a chance to earn it! Against who, we don't know, but Jay Leathal gets to pick his opponent.

(With school being back in session after spring break, this is taking longer. But I'm going to get the next SSTV done tonight, but then I'm working all weekend, so don't expect anything else till at least Monday, and even then, only a ROH.Com update thing. -LFV)
The Last Free Voice - April 13, 2005 07:11 PM (GMT)
RoH Strong Style TV for 4.15.05
From the ROH Arena.
We get the opening Video and then head straight into Scramble Action!
The Carnage Crew vs Ring Crew Express vs Sacrifice Theory vs. Outkast Killahs.
Looks like Nyteshade and Martin impressed. Alexis is out with them again, and the crowd seems much more receptive. The RCE are still over, despite being absolutely KILLED by the Saints. The Carnage Crew apparently are pissed at being left out of the tag tournament. The Outkast Killahs are the Outkast Killahs.
Marcos and Nyteshade go and do some Lucha stuff, and Marcos gets armdragged out of the ring, and Loc comes in and looks to overpower him. He goes for his press slam/jackhammer spot but Nyteshade falls out the back into a rolling pin which gets some polite applause.
The match kinda panders along like most scrambles do, with it basically being an exhibition for the “goth” kids to hit their flippy and stretchy stuff. Highlight of the train wreck spot is an alley-oop into a shooting star press. That really impressed. Finish saw Nyteshade hit a reverse rana on Marcos OFF of Martins shoulders. He called it the “Last Caress”. Martin hit a cross body onto The Carnage Crew and OCK to stop them from breaking up the pin, and Sacrifice Theory put one in the win column.
::Commercial::
We come back and CM Punk is in the locker room, with words for Low Ki. He says Ki may have built ROH in 2002, but Punk has lead it to new heights ever since. Punk points out that Ki had to cheat to beat Punk. He says it’s not over. He says his “army” is ready to take out Ki’s “thugs”. He says he hopes they meet in the tag title tourney, but he doubts that will happen. Another good promo from Punker, and it looks like they’re stretching this into a feud. Rock on.
And the Embassy has assembled in the ring. Nana calls out Lethal and he answers. They try to beat him down, but AJ STYLES (!) saves! Lethal says that THIS is Rave’s opponent for tonight, as well as his replacement partner in the tag title tourney!
::Commercial::
Team GCW vs Gen Next 1.
Coming in Delirious is all BAH BAH! And Evans is all YOU KNOW THIS MAAAAN! And Strong’s all ::BACKBREAKER::! And Sydal is all I’VE GOT HEART! And the crowd is all WHO’S GONNA DIE? And I’m all ARE YOU TIRED OF THIS JOKE YET?
Match starts off with Sydal and Evans doing some flip-floppery which leads to a swank Moonsault kick by Evans. He keeps one upping Sydal with crazy variations on stuff, including a double rotation tilt-a-whirl headscissors. Both Teams tag and Strong just RIPS DELIRIOUS UP with some chops, not giving him a chance to get all goofy. That’s basically the story of the match, Gen Next is just one step ahead and one notch higher. Delirious and Sydal look good, but Gen Next has taken it up a level.
Sydal tags back in and promptly becomes face in peril. Strong gets all stupid with his backbreakers (In a good way) with a half nelson pumphandle backbreaker. Some cool double teams follow, including a Rocket Launcher 450. Delirious gets a hot tag, however, and BAHHS up and nails some clotheslines and even hits the In Vetro Fertilization on Evans. Strong breaks up the pin, however, and Kills him dead with a cross armed Widows Peak, and Evans follows up with an Ode to the Blitzkrieg that gets the pin.
EVANS (into the camera): WORD! THIS IS JUST THE START! WE TAKIN THIS PIECE! THEM TAG BELTS ARE OURS! YOU KNOW THIS MANNNN!
We then follow GN to the back where Aries congratulates them, then cuts a promo on Bryan Danielson. Decent promo here, with Aries saying no one will take his belt from him, Yadayadayada. Typical stuff.
::Commercial::
AJ Styles vs Jimmy Rave.
The Embassy is ringside. AJ is by himself. AJ outclasses Rave to start with armdrags and whatnot, so Rave goes to the mat, where he kind of controls for a little, but overall it ends in a stalemate. They face-off and jaw jack a little, and Rave just slaps the taste out of his mouth. Oh bother. AJ goes nuts on him with chops and a Pele kick, and then tope con Hilo’s onto the Embassy taking them out of the equasion for the moment.
AJ just starts beating the crap out of Rave with all sorts of Gut busters, looking to set up the Styles Clash. The OKK look to get involved but AJ takes care of them with a dropkick. Rave uses this distraction to hit a low blow and take over, working on AJ’s arm, setting up the Tilt-a-Whirl Crossface as well as neutralizing the Clash.
It degenerates into a back and forth match, with AJ having the slight advantage, and he looks for the kill with the Styles Clash, but Nana gets on the apron and distracts him, allowing the OKK to sneak in and hit a Total Elimination and roll Rave on top for the cheap win! The crowd is NOT happy, but the Embassy is. They start beating on Styles, but Jay Lethal runs in for the save with a chair!
Next week we’ll see the rest of the first round of the Tag Tourney, and get updates on Breakdown!
