Title: TNA Destination X Replay
Description: Pre Show and later the PPV
Mad Dog - March 23, 2005 12:16 AM (GMT)
I'm going to probably have the PPV up on Thursday as it's still downloading. It'll take me a little while to do. But here's the preshow for your reading pleasure:
So basically TNA does a Preshow with a couple of matches before the PPV. I actually like the idea of throwing some filler matches on the countdown. Better than the endless video packages that these shows usually are. I'm not going to update the 3-18 Impact! records.
Hosts are Mike Teney and Don West
Jeremy Borash and Shane Douglas shil the PPV matches.
Chris Candido (0-1) and Andy Douglas (0-1) vs. Buck Quartermain (0-2) and Lex Lovett (0-2)
Candido and Douglas attack as the bell rings. Candido and Douglas try to whip Buck and Lovett into each other but it gets countered. Candido and Douglas get atomic drops and run face first into each other. Buck and Lovett send them into the ropes and hit backbody drops. Candido and Douglas try to bail to the outside but get suplexed back in. Douglas gets whipped into Candido into the corner. Double hiptoss for Douglas and things are now under control with Buck and Candido in the ring. Candido quickly gains control with a facerake. They exchange blows until Buck gets the advantage. Candido sends Buck into the corner and then misses a splash. Lovett in and Candido gets a kick followed by a knee. Lovett covers but Douglas makes the save. Lovett hits a heel kick and then covers for a two count. Buck in and Candido gets double elbows. Douglas comes in and hits Buck with a knee. Douglas abuses Buck with some punches and then rakes his face across the top rope. Buck fights back briefly but gets a facerake. Candido in and Buck gets hit with a double flapjack. Candido slams Douglas onto Buck and then Candido struts. Candido uses a snapmare and then hits a guillotine legdrop from the middle rope. Candido covers for a two count. They exchange blows until Buck sends Candido into the corner and then misses a splash. Buck escapes a vertical suplex and then hits a reverse DDT. Weak cover gets a two count before Douglas makes the save. Lovett comes in and hits Douglas with a flapjack and the faces abuse the heels. Lovett hits a slingshot legdop on Douglas while Buck hits Candido with an Alabama Slam. Buck goes to the top but Douglas tosses him off. Candido hits the diving headbutt and gets the win. Decent opener for the PPV. Though Quartermain and Lovett need to actually get a few wins or these types of matches are useless. **
WINNERS: Chris Candido and Andy Douglas
Video package for Monty Brown vs. Tryton.
Jeremy Borash and Shane Douglas come back on to
shill for the PPV some more.
Recap of Jarrett, DDP, Kevin Nash and Monty Brown on the Best Damned Sports Show Period. DDP gets hit with a guitar. Color me surprised.
Jerrelle Clark (0-1) and Cassidy Reilly (0-1) vs. Kid Kash (1-0) and Lance Hoyt (0-1)
A bit of shoving before Kash and Reilly start the match. They lock up and exchange takedowns and pinfall attempts before a staredown. They counter wrist locks until Kash gets a headlock. Reilly sends Kash into the ropes and grabs Kash's foot. Kash flips away and then runs into an armdrag from Reilly. Reilly sends Kash into the corner but Kash lands on his feet after a monkey flip. Kash runs into a couple of armdrags before Reilly gets an arm wrench. Clark in as they send Kash into the ropes. Hoyt tags himself in and misses a double clothesline. Clark and Reilly hit Kash and then dropkick Hoyt before clothesling him out of the ring. Kash charges but flies over the top rope and gets caught by Hoyt. Clark hits an asai moonsault followed by a dive from Reilly. I've always loved the pileups in tag matches. Kash and Hoyt gain control on the outside. Hoyt throws Reilly into the guard rail as Kash smashes Clark's head into the apron. Clark misses a Van Damminator and Kash blasts him with the chair. Excellent spot. Back into the ring as Kash tags Hoyt in. Kash bodyslams Clark followed by Hoyt slamming Kash onto him. Hoyt does a nice legdrop and gets a two count. Back and forth until Hoyt hits a lariat. Kash in and he hits Clark with a chop and some fists. Clark goes for a suplex but Kash counters into a suplex of his own. Kash taunts Reilly and then hits a a faceslam on Clark. Kash goes for a cover but Reilly breaks it up. Hoyt comes in and hits a release overhead suplex. Hoyt gets a two count and then punches Clark in frustration. Kash comes in and exchanges chops with Clark. Back and forth until Clark hits a spinning heel kick followed by a powerslam. Clark goes to the top but Hoyt trips him. Kash hits a super slam and covers but Reilly makes the save. Hoyt comes in and hits a press slam. Another nice legdrop followed by a two count for Hoyt. Kash comes in. Clark lands on his feet after a belly to back and they do a double clothesline spot. Reilly gets the hot tag. Reilly hits Kash with several punches and then it's back and forth for a bit. Hoyt catches Clark during a springboard attempt but gets tripped by Reilly. Kash breaks up the pinfall. Kash and Hoyt knock Reilly out to the apron with a double clothesline. Clark hits Hoyt and Kash with elbows and then hits Hoyt with a heel kick. Hoyt catches him the second time and hits a chokeslam. Hoyt poses as Kash hits the MoneyMaker for the pin. Holy crap was this a good match. Lance Hoyt is really turning into an excellent tag team wrestler. This was the perfect forumla match. Even though you knew the outcome there were moments where you thought Clark and Reilly might actually win. They need more of these types of matches on Impact. ***
WINNERS: Kid Kash and Lance Hoyt
The regular PPV commercial plays.
TNA's video packages have been one of the big positives to the promotion.
Jeremy Borash and Shane Douglas are back to shill some more. Douglas says somethings going on in the back and runs off.
Video package for the the Ultimate X match.
Douglas has arrived backstage and sees security dragging Abyss off. I imagine he beat up Hardy.
Borash for a final shill as we head into the PPV.
Overall:
Awesome show. Two excellent matches for a preshow is unheard of. If you have a decent connection I recommend downloading it.
Match Recap:
Chris Candido and Andy Douglas d. Buck Quartermain and Lex Lovett with a diving headbutt **
Kid Kash and Lance Hoyt d. Jerrelle Clark and Cassidy Reilly with the MoneyMaker ***

Ack, that site. I can never get it to work.
Any advice for a newbie to that site?

http://www.nexusinc.us/slh/forums/You can try this site too. They have most of the PPV there only chopped up. You just have to register for the forums. It's a little more user friendly.

Here's part 1 of the PPV review:
A great video package to for the matches starts off. These keep getting better every month and frankly are putting the WWE's to shame.
BG James, Konnan and America's Most Wanted (1-0) vs. Team Canada w/ Scott D'Amore
Johnny Devine is injured so he'll be replaced by Alistair Ralph. I'm stunned that this match didn't start off with a huge brawl. James and Roode will be starting the match. They lockup and Roode gets a knee and then pounds on James. James ducks a clothesline and does his combo punches. Roode ducks the last shot but runs into a big boot from James. James takes a shot at every member of Team Canada and they all regroup on the outside. Konnan and Young get tagged in. Konnan escapes a wristlock and gets a headlock. Back and forth until Konnan gets a kick followed by his flipping clothesline. Konnan sends Young into the corner and tehn throws his shoe at him? What the heck was with the shoe throwing? Roode comes in to protest and then gets the shoe thrown at him when he turns his back to Konnan. Shouldn't that get him DQed? Harris gets tagged in. Back and forth until Harris hits two armdrags followed by a dropkick. They do some weird leapfrog thing in the ring until Young jumps out. Decent little comedy spot there. Roode comes in and gets tossed to the outside. Harris and Storm knock Ralph off the apron and then Storm does a dive onto Roode and Young. Harris follows up with a dive of his own onto Team Canada. Williams uses Devine as a shield and Harris just levels him with a punch. Back in the ring and Williams begs off an attack from Harris until Young attacks from behind. Harris escapes a double team that sees Williams nail Young. Harris goes for a spear but Young pulls Williams out of the way. Roode comes in and hits some shoulder strikes and then rams Harris into the ringpost. Harris gets double teamed by Young and Ralph while the ref holds Storm back. Williams comes in and hits an arm breaker followed by a cover for a two count. Ralph comes in and he abuses Harris with multiple forearms. A nice variation on a bodyslam followed by a cover for a two count. Ralph uses the middle rope to work over the arm some more. Konnan tries to come in but this leads to more double teaming on Harris. Roode comes in briefly and then tags Young in. Young hits a snapmare and works over the arm some more. Back and forth until Harris hits a flying forearm. Hot tag time and Konnan destroys Team Canada. Roode regains control after Konnan hits a facebuster on Williams. Konnan avoids Roode in the corner and hits a dropkick. Konnan locks in the Tequilla Sunrise but Young breaks it up. A big brawl breaks out leaving Konnan and Roode in the ring. D'Amore heads to the top and Konnan slams him to the ground. Konnan plays to the crowd and gets hit from behind by Roode and gets pinned? That was an anticlimatic finish. Decent opener to the PPV but it was too short and the finish just came out of nowhere. **
WINNERS: Team Canada
Trinity and Traci talk trash to each other before Johnny Fairplay walks up. Fairplay is broke and he wants another chance to work for Dusty. Dusty tells him to find two wrestlers and he can have it. Dusty wishes Trinity and Traci luck tonight.
Chase Stevens (0-1) w/ Chris Candido and Andy Douglas vs. Chris Sabin (0-1)
Sabin stupidly goes after Candido right away and gets attacked by Stevens. Sabin gets a headlock but Stevens rolls him up for one. Sabin still has the headlock until Stevens sends him into the ropes. Back and forth until Sabin hits a rana and Stevens bails to the outside. Sabin hits Steven with a dive and then fights off Candido and Douglas. The next move I missed because of the replay but Stevens now has control. Stevens rakes his boots on Sabin's head followed by choking him on the middle rope. Candido and Douglas choke and punch Sabin while the ref is distracted by Stevens. Stevens tries to throw Sabin to the outside but he lands on the apron. Stevens gets two shoulder's to the gut before Candido and Douglas pull Sabin off the apron. More double teaming on the outisde until Douglas rolls Sabin back in. Stevens covers for two. Sabin fights back and abuses Stevens with right hands. Stevens sends Sabin into the corner and gets hit with a roundhouse kick. Stevens fakes out Sabin on a corner charge and hits him with a low blow. Stevens stalls before covering for two. Stevens hits some knees to the back of the head followed by an STO. Another two count for Stevens. Stevens hits a moonsault off the second rope and gets another two count. Stevens stops a Sabin comeback by pulling his hair. Same comeback before Stevens sends him into the ropes and then gets hit with an atomic drop. Sabin hits two clotheslines but Stevens ducks the third. Stevens blocks a kick but gets hit with an enziguri. Springboard tornado DDT gets a nearfall for Sabin. Stevens gets control with a few punches followed by them fighting for control. Sabin goes for the Future Shock but Candido distracts the ref so Douglas can break up the move. The Naturals double team and Stevens covers while holding the tights. Sabin counters and rolls up Stevens for the win. Another decent match though it was probably too short. **
WINNER: Chris Sabin
Candido and the Naturals beatdown Sabin after the match. A masked man comes out and completely destroys Candido and the Naturals. They bail to the outside but he hits them with a dive over the top rope. He unmasks to reveal it's the Shocker!!! Teney and West mention his McDonald's commercial which I don't think I've seen.
Bullrope Match:
Raven (1-0) vs. Dustin Rhodes (1-0)
I hate these matches as the only time it was good was when Sting and Vader did it. And that was only because they had such chemistry that they could put on a **** match no matter what. Raven argues with the ref and demands to be tied to the rope on the outside. Rhodes quickly slides to the outside and pulls Raven into the ringpost several times. Rhodes takes a shot with the bell but Raven ducks. Raven takes a few shots and tries to get back into the ring but Rhodes flings him into the guard rail. Rhodes pulls Raven into the ring. Rhodes sends Raven into the ropes and hits him with the cow bell. Rhodes heads to the outside and pulls Raven into the corner. Rhodes wraps the rope around the ringpost and taunts Raven while he pulls on the rope. Rhodes unwraps the rope and then chokes Raven with it. Rhodes sits on the turnbuckle and keeps pulling Raven into punches. Raven pulls Rhodes out of the corner to finally gain some control. Ravens heads to the outside and grabs a chair. Raven sets the chair in the corner and throws Rhodes into it. Raven works over the leg a bit with the bell and then hits Rhodes in the neck with the chair. Raven sets the chair up and then drops an elbow on Rhodes. Raven goes for an elbow off the middle rope but hits the chair when Rhodes ducks. Raven stupidly gets the rope between his legs and Rhodes uses the ropes for a low blow. Rhodes does his drop to the ground uppercut. Rhodes hits an atomic drop followed by a clothesline. Rhodes hits the ten punches in the corner and then gets thrown on a bulldog attempt. Raven goes for a move but Rhodes comes off the ropes and hits the bulldog onto the chair and gets the pin. This match further proves to me that TNA needs a United States title for guys like Raven and Rhodes. This match sucked but it really serves no purpose. Boring brawl as they just don't seem to click with each other in the ring. *1/2
WINNER: Dustin Rhodes
Team Canada attacks Dustin Rhodes but America's Most Wanted makes the save. I guess this will be a match on the next PPV.
Video package for Trinity and Traci's competition. Phi Delta Slam and Harris Brother highlights follow. I guess the point of this feud is to see who's going lesbian after having to deal with the horrors of sleeping with Dusty Rhodes.
Phi Delta Slam w/ Trinity vs. Harris Brothers (1-0) w/ Traci
This one's going to be rough as I have no clue how to tell any of these guys apart. So pay more attention since I'm just using Frat and Harris for both members of each team. Not that you care and will be skipping over this one entirely. Lockup and Harris backs Frat into the corner before letting go. Another lockup and Harris gets a headlock and then hits Frat with a shoulderblock. Frat comes in and exchanges slaps with Harris. Frat gets in a kick and then applies a headlock. Harris sends Frat into the ropes and then hits a big boot. The other Frat comes in and gets a big boot before the Harris Brothers clear them out of the ring. Frat comes back in and kicks Harris before ramming him into the corner. Harris no sells and chokes Frat until the other Frat helps double team Harris. One Frat ducks a clothesline but his partner isn't so lucky. Harris hits a chokeslam and throws Frat out of the ring. Harris cheapshots the other Frat and the ref holds him back. I'm guessing off camera the other Harris hit the other Frat with a chair. I was right as they replay it after Harris rolls him back into the ring. Harris hits Frat with a few punches before tagging the other Harris in. They mess something up before Harris hits a belly to back suplex. Harris goes after Trinity after she grabs his leg. This always leads to the heels getting the advantage. Harris falls to the outside and gets smashed into the guard rail by Frat. Harris gets rolled back into the ring and punched by Frat. Frat tags the other Frat in who does basically nothing before tagging the other one back in. They double team Harris with a kick, knee and clothesline combo. Another tag and Frat does the fat guy splash into the corner. Another tag and Harris gets double elbows. Harris fights out of the corner with kicks and punches but walks into an elbow from the Frat on the apron. Harris fights back again but runs into a knee from Frat. Another tag while Frat holds Harris foot until the other Frat drops an elbow. They toss Harris to the outside. Why would you do that when you've finally gotten the guy down? Harris gets thrown into the guard rail and abused. One Frat goes to the top but the other Harris throws him off. Trinity goes for a moonsault off the top and Harris drops her while trying to catch her. She gets tossed into the crowd for her trouble. Frat rolls Harris back into the ring and the other Frat chokes him while leaning on the ropes. Frat hits a suplex and then misses an elbow from the middle rope. Harris hits a clothesline and makes the hot tag. The heels get destroyed until they get whipped into each other. Harris falls to the outside after Frat ducks a move. The Harris in the ring gets a double elbow followed by the top rope splash. He covers but his partner has the ref distracted. The Frats really look like retards here. The Harris do the twins switch. Frat puts Harris in the corner and charges right into a big boot and gets pinned. The Frat Boys really looked like idiots throughout this entire match as they always did something to kill their momentum. Just a horrible match all around. 1/2*
WINNERS: Harris Brothers
Dustin Rhodes and America's Most Wanted are discussing Team Canada when Johnny Fairplay approaches them. Fairplay wants to be their manager. They tell him he has to pass a challenge to be their manager. It ends with Fairplay getting rode like a horse by Storm. Amusing.
Video package for Monty Brown vs. Trytan. This match is going to suck but the video is cool.
Monty Brown vs. Trytan
Trytan's got some decent music but that's about the only good thing I can say about him. Stare down to start as Brown talks a lot of trash. Brown ducks a clothesline and Trytan no sells some punches. Trytan sends Brown into the corner and attempts a chokeslam. Brown escapes with an elbow and hits some forearms. Trytan sends Brown into the corner and hits a sloppy press slam. You know someone's bad when they screw up moves that even the Ultimate Warrior could do on a regular basis. Trytan goes for another chokeslam but Brown fights out. Brown ducks a move and Trytan falls to the outside. Brown goes for a double axe-handle off the apron but gets a fist to the gut. Trytan throws Brown into the guard rail and then rams him into the ring steps. Trytan hits a chop and then throws Brown into the apron. Trytan pulls Brown shoulder first into the ringpost twice. Trytan rolls Brown onto the apron and then hits a few elbows. Back into the ring as Trytan beats on Brown in the corner. Trytan sends Brown into the corner and charges right into a boot. Brown smartly attacks the knee to get Trytan down but then runs into a chokeslam for a nearfall. Brown escapes a slam and it's back and forth until Brown hits a dropkick. Brown escapes an F5 and then hits Trytan with a fallaway slam. Brown goes for the POUNCE!!! but the lights go out. When the lights come on a masked man is attacking Brown. The masked man gets the POUNCE!!! and pinned. Trytan appears at the entrance which means Brown pinned the wrong guy. Brown looks about as confused as I do as he heads to the back. Just a horrible match as Trytan is useless in the ring. This match could've been good if they had kept Kevin Northcutt around for this match. I place the match entirely on Trytan's head. Dud
NO DECISION
Diamond Dallas Page is doing stretches backstage.
Video package for Jeff Hardy vs. Abyss. I have to hand it to TNA, they found a way to interest me in something involving Jeff Hardy.
Falls Count Anywhere:
Abyss (1-0) vs. Jeff Hardy
Abyss tries to sneak up on Hardy with a chair but Hardy blocks with a kick. Abyss counters an irish whip and goes for the torture rack backbreak but Hardy escapes. Hardy ducks a few clotheslines before he clotheslines Abyss out of the ring. Hardy does a springboard dive off the chair and to the outside. Hardy punches Abyss and then rams him into the ring steps. Abyss regains control and throws Hardy into the guard rail. Abyss and Hardy head into the crowd for some brawling. Abyss drags Hardy towards the backstage area. Abyss throws Hardy into a door and they're in the back. Abyss sets up a table but Hardy recovers a bit and fights back. Abyss regains control and smashes Hardy into a cooler. Abyss sets another table right next to the one he set up. Hardy's back up and rams Abyss into the wall. Abyss is on the table now as Hardy climbs on this x shaped beam and does a senton through the table. Several replays of the move is shown while the guys sell it. Hardy finally manages to cover but he only gets a two count. Hardy hits a few punches but Abyss overpowers him by throwing him into a gate. Back towards the ring as Abyss throws Hardy into a guard rail. They get closer to the ring and Abyss crotches Hardy onto the guard rail. I never did know the name of that move and who am I to argue with Teney? Abyss rolls Hardy into the ring and grabs two chairs. Abyss tries to set up the chair in the corner but turns and gets hit with a chair that Hardy sprinboard dropkicked. Hardy can't get Abyss down with a clothesline and then gets hit with a big boot when he goes for a second one. Abyss places a chair on top of Hardy and hits a splash from the second rope. Nice move but that should finish a match considering the size difference here. Hardy barely just kicks to no one's surprise. Abyss puts the chair back on and goes for Earthquake's finisher but gets a chair to the crotch. Hardy hits Abyss with a couple of nice chair shots and covers for a nearfall. Hardy circles the ring looking for any weapon he can find and finally brings the fourth chair into the ring. He hits Abyss from the outside a few times before placing the chair on his head. Hardy searches under the ring and pulls out a ladder. Hardy sets up the ladder and now they both head to the top. Hardy manages to knock Abyss off and follows it up with a springboard legdrop. Hardy slowly covers but Abyss kicks out. Abyss counters a Twist of Fate into a torture rack backbreaker and covers for a nearfall. Hardy ducks a charge and Abyss hits the chair in the corner. Hardy gets a school boy rollup and almost gets the win. Hardy heads to the top but Abyss trips him up. Abyss props the ladder against the ropes and searches for a weapon on the outside. Abyss brings a table into the ring to the delight of the crowd. Abyss sets up the table and the crowd chants for Hardy. That's quite interesting as the crowd was yelling Hardy sucks early in the match. Abyss places Hardy on the table and heads to the top rope but Hardy trips him up. Hardy goes for a rana but Abyss catches him and powerbombs him through the table. Abyss moves the table to the side and lays the ladder on the mat. Abyss goes for a chokeslam but Hardy counters it into a Twist of Fate onto the ladder and gets the pin. I have to say that Jeff Hardy is starting to look motivated again in the ring and isn't blowing spots. If he keeps this up then I might look forward to his matches again. Fun brawl that managed to keep all of the good things about WWF hardcore matches with none of the bad. ***
WINNER: Jeff Hardy
Abyss shows us what a great sport he is by attacking Hardy after the match. Abyss pours a bag of thumb tacts into the ring and Black Hole Slams Hardy onto the tacts. Hardy rolls around and they show a close up of Hardy's bloody back. That sound you heard at the end was Vince McMahon weeping over not having Abyss on the WWE roster.
