Title: Crowd Response
Description: a question

Big F'N Swigg - March 21, 2005 03:10 AM (GMT)
So here's a question I must ask. Is crowd participation enough to turn a wrestler? The reason I ask this is because TNA's crowd was marking out for Daniels. But like WCW's crowds, TNA's crowd ended up talking through all the promos that night.

So the question is, as a booker would you be more likely to turn a worker because of crowd response? And as a subquestion: Would you be more likely to turn a worker because of crowd response if the crowd was a respectfully quiet crowd as compared to a WCW/TNA there to cheer crowd.

In TNA's case no. The infamous heel section is enough to ignore the cheering the heels. Also someone like Daniels has a huge cult following and that's another reason to ignore cheers.

Well, if I was there, I would probably cheer Daniels as much as I'd like to boo him since he's a good heel - but I'd mark out for Daniels as if he were a face though. Although when it comes to promos, I'd prefer him to stay heel and not turn.

If I ever saw Chris Daniels in person I would be marking out way too much to boo the man, no matter what.

I think TNA should only be concerned when people they are pushing as faces get booed (see Jarrett in early 2003). If a heel is getting some cheers, good for them, it means that fans are interested in seeing this heel.

I've met Daniels before....and it is hard to boo him. He's a extremely cool guy....and he's pretty funny actually.

I can believe that. Whenever Daniels gets interview time, he shines and he is a true original. I love how he is the Fallen Angel wherever he goes too, and no one really tries to stop him from doing that. Even TNA has embraced the gimmick.

It's a good gimmick and he does it well.

Well, TNA was also the promotion that brainstormed the Elite Guard gimmick for Onyx and Chad Collyer and turned the Shane Twins into wrestling penises.

Oh poor Jimmy Yang.

They also thought Jarrett could be a good face champion. I scoff at them.

Ok, but lets remember to answer the more general question. Not just TNA, but promotions in general

I loved how when the WWE broadcasted from Japan recently the announcers would always go out of their way to explain that Japanese audiences are more quiet than American audiences, when for the most part, they were making more noise than your average disenchanted American crowd.

They were possibly one of the best (WWE) crowds I have seen in a LONG time.

I would have to agree. They ate everything up, when US audiences usually are apathetic

And the entire time the WWE is trying to make excuses for why the Japanese crowds were so quiet, it was really stupid.

Also I sensed that WWE knew that if they put on shitty shows for the Japanese, the crowd would let them know that. It resulted in two of the better Raws and Smackdowns I've seen in a long time. I really wish they would use that mentality of, you know, pleasing the audience all the time.

Big F'N Swigg - March 25, 2005 03:54 AM (GMT)
I read an interview lately in which someone said something along the lines of "I like the House shows because we can interact with the fans more. We can't do that when the cameras are rolling."

What a retarded concept
