Title: WWF World Tour (1990):
Description: Hogan vs. Savage, Warrior vs. Dibiase

Scrooge McSuck - March 19, 2005 07:30 PM (GMT)

- God Damn... OK, you know right off the bat, whenever the first words are or includes profanity, this isn't going to be a good tape. The following tape is titled "World Tour", whcih features several matches from around the World. Of course, idiots seem to think World Tour means the United States doesn't count, although it technically is part of the World. What a concept, huh? Matches for this show are from Paris, France, London, England, Tokyo, Japan, and the good ol' U.S.A, bitches.

- "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka vs. Boris Zhukov (w/ Jimmy Hart):
Taped from the June 10th, 1989 show at the Nassau Coliseum. This is part of the Jimmy Snuka Profile... yeah, I'm dancing for joy already too. Jimmy Hart is in the corner of Zhukov because he's a "substitute" for the Honky Tonk Man. Time to place bets: Who will perform a wrestling move first? I say Zhukov, but it's going to be a close one to call. Zhukov clotheslines Snuka from behind and over the top rope to start the match. One more clothesline and he's going to do a Boomerang. Snuka with a headbutt, but he misses a springboard into the ring. Zhukov hammers away on Snuka, and applies a standing side headlock (winner!). Criss cross and Snuka with a cross body press for a two count. Snuka with a big chop followed by a dropkick staggers Zhukov in the ropes. Irish whip, and Zhukov with an elbow to the back of the head for a two count. Irish whip, and Zhukov drops Snuka with a clothesline for another two count. Back breaker by Zhukov, and that gets two once more, then Zhukov goes into a reverse chinlock. Snuka eventually gets back to his feet (hits Fast Forward) and elbows his way out of the hold. Chops by Snuka in the corner, and he whips Zhukov to the corner, only to run into a boot. Zhukov chokes Superfly across the top rope, then takes him over with a snapmare into another reverse chinlock. Snuka once again fights back to his feet with chop-chop-chopping, then misses an elbow drop, allowing Zhukov to cover for a two count. Zhukov hammers away on Snuka with shitty chops and punches, but Snuka no sells and does the same stuff. Irish whip, and Zhukov drops Snuka with a shoulder block. Criss cross, and Snuka puts Zhukov down with a knife-edge chop, followed by a scoop slam. Snuka dropkicks Jimmy Hart off the ring apron, then drops a knee across the chest of Zhukov. Snuka goes up to the top rope, and comes off with the Superfly Splash, which is more than enough for the win at 7:20. * Not entirely worthless for this combination, and thankfully, it was kept short. That doesn't mean it's worth tracking down, however.

- "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka vs. The Honky Tonk Man (w/ Jimmy Hart):
From the September 30th, 1989 show at New York City's Madison Square Garden, and nearing the end of the program for these two men. Tony Schiavone and Hillbilly Jim on commentary... ouch, that has to be a horrible combination, although Schiavone didn't completely suck back then. Honky tries a sneak attack, but Snuka catches him with a headbutt, followed by a big chop across the throat. Snuka hammers away on Honky some more, and drops him with another giant headbutt. Atomic drop by Snuka (which is over sold), followed by a second rope chop to the neck from Snuka. He chokes away on Honky, which is not what a face should do, and he continues the beating in the corner. Irish whip to the corner, and Snuka misses a charge in what looked like a horrible looking knee from HTM. Honky hammers away on the midsection of Snuka, but Snuka no sells blows to the head and applies a side headlock. Irish whip, but Jimmy trips up Jimmy, leading to a chase around the ring. Snuka catches Honky coming in for the attack, and sends him into the ring post. Back into the ring they go, and Honky boots Snuka in the midsection, back down to the floor. Jimmy Hart with a cheap shot from the outside, but Snuka sells it like he has diarrhea or something. Snuka continues no selling HTMs offense, and drops him with a headbutt. Snuka with a springboard splash, but he meets the knees of Honky, who then covers for a count of two. Time to continue slowing up the pace, so Honky applies a reverse chinlock. Irish whip, and Honky with a knee to the midsection, followed by some choking across the bottom and middle ropes. More choking from Honky, and he sends Snuka crashing to the outside once again. Honky with a back suplex to bring Snuka back into the ring, followed by a piledriver. Honky goes for the Shake, Rattle N' Roll, but Snuka blocks and takes Honky over with a back drop. Snuka is "Fijiing Up", and hammers away on Snuka with blows to the midsection and a bunch of chops. Snuka with a headbutt, followed by some more chops. Headbutt and scoop slam by Snuka. Jimmy gets on the apron, but Honky accidentally runs into him. Snuka with another slam, and he comes off the top rope with a headbutt for the clean three count at 10:27. DUD Way way way too boring to be worth anything, with maybe 2 or 3 wrestling moves (tops) being performed in the entire match. Thank God this is the last of Snuka on the tape.

- Bret "Hitman" Hart vs. Dino Bravo (w/ Jimmy Hart):
This is the Fan Favorite Match (a.k.a from a fake fan) taped from London, England on October 10th, 1989 during the solo runs of the Hart Foundation members. So far, Jimmy Hart has been at ringside for 3 of 3 matches on this tape... I'm noticing a patern here. We also get promos from both participants, and they are as lame as you could imagine. Tony Schiavone and Lord Alfred Hayes are back on for the commentary. Crowd is pretty hot for (at the time) midcarder Bret Hart. I guess they enjoy whatever they could get. Lockup to start, and Bravo wins the shove off, which was pretty obvious. Hart with a standing side headlock into the ropes, and Bravo with a clean break! Bravo with a side headlock now, followed by a shoulder block (with extra bang from the canvas). Inverted atomic drop from Bravo, and he plays to the crowd before hammering away on Hart some more. Irish whip and Hart ducks a few clotheslines before taking down Bravo with a cross body press for a two count. Inverted atomic drop and dropkick from Hart, followed by a series of clotheslines, which makes Bravo bail out. Pretty hot crowd so far, which makes me happy. Gotta' love those Brits who will cheer for anything you throw at them. Bret knocks Bravo off the apron with a roundhouse right, which leads to him pretending to walk out on the match. Lockup and Bravo applies a wristlock, but Hart reverses and takes Bravo over into an armbar. Hart with a knee into the bicep of Bravo, followed by a series of rights into the elbow. Irish whip breaks the hold, but a shoulder block doesn't budge Bravo. Criss cross sequence, but Bravo gets caught in a monkey flip attempt with an elbow to the face. Hart with a series of arm drag takeovers, and back into the armbar. Hart drops a leg across the arm of Bravo, then goes back to the hold. Irish whip and Hart fucks up a crucifix pin, so he just turns it into an armbar to try and cover up. The two exchange blows, with Hart coming out on top, and he pounds the arm. Irish whip, and Hart drops Bravo then teases a wish bone before stomping him in the chest. Bravo comes back with several boots to the midsection, followed by knee drops into the lower back before knocking Bret to the outside of the ring. Hart tries getting back in the ring, but Bravo slingshots him off the apron into the security railing. This was NOT the footage from Wrestling with Shadows where Hart tore whatever it was he injured. Bravo keeps Hart on the outside, but decides to toss him back in himself and drops an elbow for a two count. Snapmare from Bravo, and he applies a reverse chinlock. Hart fights his way back up with elbows to the midsection, but he runs into a big clothesline for a two count. Bravo applies a rear chinlock from a Camel Clutch position. Bravo with a gutwrench suplex for a two count, but Bret comes back with a back slide for two as well. Bravo applies a bearhug, but Hart escapes and hammers away in the corner. Irish whip is reversed, Bret kisses the turnbuckle at 105 mph for a two count then Bravo goes back to the bearhug. Irish whip to the corner, but this time Hart catches Bravo with a boot to the face, but he misses a second rope elbow drop. Bravo goes to the top rope now... and quite obviously, gets caught with a fist to the midsection. Hart continues pounding away on Bravo, and catches him with a back body drop. Hart with a leg drop, and he covers for a two count. Hart with a small package for another two count. Side back breaker from Hart, and that gets yet another two count. Bravo tries a slam, but Hart escapes, but can't take Bravo down with a roll up. Bravo gloats, but eats a dropkick, and is sent to the outside once again. Hart with a pescado (horrible camera angle, bitches), followed by a random kick to the face. Bravo pulls Hart off the apron by the tights (and hard) and stomps away in retaliation. Bravo with a suplex attempt, but Hart escapes and rolls up Bravo for two. Bravo reverses the roll up, and is able to pin Hart with it at 16:07. **1/4 Porbably the best match you could get out of Bravo during this time frame. A little slow at some points of the match, but good enough I guess.

- Hulk Hogan filmed in Bruscles (or wherever), pimping out No Holds Barred. The promotional cutout of Hulk Hogan makes him look like "The Huckster" actually. Hogan is seen posing, signing autographs, and not much else. This was probably one of Hogans best movies... OK, that's not really saying much, but oh well. You got to take what you can get sometimes. We follow up with Lord Alfred rambling on and on about things in Paris, as if anyone here cares.

- The Rockers vs. The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers (w/ Jimmy Hart):
Make that 4 for 4 with Jimmy Hart being a manager for the match. Taped from Paris, France on October 13th, 1989. The Rougeaus "American Boys" theme music is SO fucking awesome, I can't get it out of my head. I like the tunnel entrance for the arena, for those geeks who think that an entrance makes a match good. Gorilla Monsoon and Alfred Hayes on commentary again. For trivia geeks, CANAL+ is printed across the aprons on the ring and on the ring canvas. The Rockers rush the ring, and quickly dispose of the Rougeaus with simultanius reverse crescent kicks. Raymond and Michaels start the match, with Raymond attacking from behind. Raymond with a wristlock, then tags in Jacques to apply an armbar. Irish whip, and a criss cross leads to Michaels ramming Jacques face into the canvas. Jannetty gets the tag in, and he drops Jacques with a back elbow. Irish whip to the corner, and Jannetty with a Stinger Splash. Irish whip to the poosite corner, but Marty is too smart to be fooled to do it again, and drops Jacques with a sledge for a two count. Raymond tags back in, and Jannetty applies a side headlock. Criss cross sequence and he drops an elbow across the back of Raymond. Michaels tags in and connects with a splash across the knee, then works over the left leg. Jannetty comes back in to work the leg over as well. Criss cross once again, and this time Jannetty catches Raymond with a fist to the forehead. Michaels comes in and continues working over the leg. The Rockers with a wish bone to Raymond behind the referees back, and we get more work of the leg. Michaels ends up getting posted, and Raymond whips him into the corner, turning him upside down. Jacques with some choking with the tag rope while Raymond unloads on the midsection of Michaels. Raymond slams Shawn across the knee of Jacques, and he does a kip up for no reason that I can come up with. Raymond stomps away on Michaels, and covers for a two count. Irish whip, and Jacques comes in with a diving back elbow. Irish whip again, and this time the Rougeaus drop Michaels with a double clothesline. Raymond with a reverse crescent kick, and that knocks Shawn over the top rope to the floor. Back inside the ring, and Raymond applies a modified reverse chinlock. Jacques comes in with a dropkick, and stomps away on Shawn before pulling the hair in a stupid looking hold. Raymond tags in and applies a front facelock as I'm getting a little impatient with this one. The Rougeaus continue working over Michaels with nothing much of note happening. Jannetty gets several fake hot tags until Jacques knocks his own partner down witha running high knee. Jannetty gets the real hot tag and unloads on Jacques in the corner. Marty with a back elbow to Jacques, followed by a running knee lift. Jimmy gets on the apron, and gets knocked off right after. Irish whip and Jacques with a sunset flip attempt, but thats blocked for a no count. Hell breaks loose and Jannetty with a back slide, but the referee doesn't see it until it's only a two count. Irish whip is reversed, and Raymond trips up Jannetty. Jacques with a piledriver, and again the referee isn't looking. Michaels connects with his own (jumping piledriver), and he rolls Jannetty on top for the three count at 14:43. *1/4 Surprisngly (OK, not really since the Rockers usually dogged it during non-televised matches) bad match, with very little action outside of the opening and ending sequences.

- WWF-World Championship Match:
The Ultimate Warrior vs. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase:

Taped from Tokyo, Japan on April 13th, 1990, and this isn't even two weeks removed from Wrestlemania VI, and around the time fans were actually booing Warrior being World Champion. Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura on commentary here, so it was probably televised in Japan. Dibiase attacks rom behind and beats on the Warrior with his own belt. Chops in the corner from Dibiase, but an Irish whip to the corner is reversed and Warrior takes him down with a back drop. Warrior with a scoop slam, followed by a clothesline that knocks Dibiase over the top rope to the floor. Back inside the ring, and Warrior wins the lockup with a shove off. Lockup #2, and again Warrior sends Dibiase into the corner on the shove off. Dibiase with a standing side headlock, but Warrior escapes with a throw from the atomic drop position. Dibiase with a knee to the midsection followed by rights and chops (to cheers). Dibiase with another side headlock followed by a criss cross sequence, leading to a Warrior shoulder block. Dibiase side steps the Warriors shoulder tackle, causing him to crash into the canvas face first. Dibiase stomps away on the Warrior as the crowd screams "yeah!" every time he connects with something. Good thing Japan recognizes talent, because Dibiase rules, bitches. Irish whip and Dibiase drops Warrior with a clothesline (to a big pop) for only a one count (to boos). They exchange blows with Dibiase coming out on top with an eye rake, followed by chops in the corner. Warrior fights free and sends Dibiase into the buckle. Dibiase takes over again though with a snapmare followed by a fist drop (yeah!). Dibiase connects with a suplex for a two count, and it seems like the crowd is more Pro-Dibiase than Pro-Warrior. Piledriver by Dibiase connects, but that only gets a two count as Warrior starts to 'tard up. Warrior no sells chops and drops Dibiase with several clotheslines. Warrior bounces off the ropes and connects with a diving clothesline followed by the big splash, and thats all she wrote at a crisp 6:11. * The finish seemed a little fucked up, but it was OK, especially since the Warrior sucked, and it was quite short. Oh well, thats the best you could hope for, I guess.

- "King Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs. The Honky Tonk Man (w/ Jimmy Hart):
Back to London, England (same date as Hart vs. Bravo), and it's now the 5th appearence of Jimmy Hart out of 6 matches. This is one match I am NOT looking forward to, I can tell you that. Jim Duggan even has the "King" music recycled for Harley Race, Haku, and Jerry Lawler. The British crowd chants U-S-A for some stupid reason... I guess they are idiots or something. At least Canada booed his ass at Wrestlemania VI for trying that shit. Schiavone and Hayes are back for more commentary duty. Stalling a go-go until Duggan throws Honky into the ring and puts him down with a clothesline. Duggan with a series of blows sends Honky out to the floor soon after, where he gets his head rammed into Jimmy Harts. Duggan ruffles the hair of Honky, and connects with an atomic drop. Mounted punches in the corner from King Dumbass (only six), and Honky is sent outside of the ring again. Back inside, and Honky with a cheap shot to take the advantage, followed by some choke-choke-choking. Honky pounds away on Duggan and chokes him across the top rope some more. Honky with a knee drop, followed by applying a reverse chinlock. Duggan fights free a few times, but Honky keeps putting him down soon after, eventually kicking him to the outside again. Duggan is sent face first into the steel post... and I just want this tape to end. Duggan shadow boxes as well as Ganon does, and Honky continues to bring the pain. Irish whip, and Honky puts Duggan down with a back elbow for a two count, then goes back to the chinlock. Duggan avoids a charge into the corner, with Honky getting hung upside down. He hammers away on HTM with rights and lefts, then connects with a clothesline. Duggan calls for the finish, and actually nails the big clothesline for another clean victory over the Honky Tonk Man at 9:07. DUD And once again, a horribly boring match featuring the Honky Tonk Man. He might've been over as hell, but he couldn't wrestle worth a shit. Honky and Jimmy work over Duggan after the match, but Duggan no sells and chases everyone off with his 2x4 in hand. Gotta' fight fire with fire I guess.

- WWF-World Championship Match:
Hulk Hogan © (w/ Miss Elizabeth) vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage (w/ Sensational Sherri):

Horrible continuity I think, since Warrior was World Champion 10 minutes ago on this tape. Whatever, I guess... this is from Paris, France as well, and the same date as the previous Paris match. Sherri is an 8 on the ugly meter tonight, and looks a little bloated (and Monsoon of course takes a shot at her). The crowd isn't too into this match (actually they are pretty dead for both men). What a choice to put on the tape I guess. Savage plays the coward to start, which was the usual for heel Savage (stupid Memphis style). Lockup in the ring, and Hogan wins with a shove into the corner, resulting in Savage to play cat-and-mouse once again. Back inside the ring as the crowd finally wakes up with a "Hogan" chant, but Savage bails once more. Savage tosses a chair into the ring, but that is tossed back out. Savage with a standing side headlock, but Hogan whips him off, and drops him with a shoulder block. Sherri looks terrible, and Gorilla even says she looks like she got Draculas make up. Savage gets on the house microphone to stall even MORE. Savage sneak attacks Hogan, and Sherri even comes in (DQ?), but Hogan fights them off and sends Savage outside with an atomic drop. PLEASE END THIS DAMN TAPE! Hogan whips Sherri into the ropes, and she runs right into Savage, which results in them both getting rammed into the canvas. Savage catches Hogan with some choking, but Hogan no sells everything and beats on Savage outside the ring. Back inside and Hogan with a series of roundhouse rights. Irish whip, and Hogan blocks a boot to the face with more rights. Irish whip to the corner and Hogan rushes in with a back elbow. Choke lift from Hogan, and Sherri gets back on the apron, which results in Hogan mocking her and signalling for her to kiss his ass. Savage from behind with a WEAK high knee, and Hogan is outside again. Savage continues the working over of crap, and chokes away. Savage heads up to the top rope, and connects with a double axehandle for a series of two counts, then goes into a reverse chinlock... (looks at watch) This tape better be over before the Rocky Marathon on AMC, starting at 3 pm. Hogan FINALLY breaks free and drops Savage with a shoulder block. Sherri trips him up however, so he pulls her by the hair until Savage attacks again and hangs him up across the top rope. Savage goes to the top rope again, and comes off with another double axehandle for a two count. Hogan is HULKING UP and thats all she wrote... whoops, match isn't over. Hogan with some roundhouse rights followed by a big boot. Hogan holds Savage in place for a slap from Miss Elizabeth, then drops Savage with a clothesline and connects with the leg drop for three at 11:54. 1/2* Because I'm a mark for both men. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Match from two men who were easily capable of having a 3-star+ match, but decided to play the waiting game for most of it. Despite being a Hogan mark, was beating up a WOMAN that important? Come on WWF... you're marking a hero to beat up women like it's an OK thing to do.

Final Thoughts: Ouch... thats all I can think of. OUCH! The best match on the tape barely broke the ** barrier, and it included DINO BRAVO of all people. Too much Jimmy Snuka and Honky Tonk Man doesn't help either. However, if you are a fan of Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, and the Rockers dogging it for 30 minutes total in Paris, France, then this is the tape for you. Strong Recommendation to Avoid this pile of garbage.
