Title: Fantasy Discussion thread
Description: an idea...
Big F'N Swigg - March 18, 2005 01:49 AM (GMT)
So let's talk. This isn't as much a thread in which we can both discuss current storylines in each others diarys, and discuss the issues involved with being a booker.
I.E.: I'm having a problem booking wrestlers who have previously defined personalities that I don't like. Mainly Jarrett. I can't stand booking him. There is nothing about his character that makes him interesting, and I really can't see him being interesting. Any ideas?
SamoaRowe - March 18, 2005 09:08 PM (GMT)
Great idea for a thread!
About the whole Marty Jannetty thing, since it's your diary and your world, feel free to alter him to your liking. Make him something you'll be excited to write about. For example, I had a couple of guys on my Smackdown roster who were boring me to death, so i grouped them up and made them a cult B)
prof_plague - March 20, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
In my EWR game I made Jarrett a "grizzled veteran". He would have just turned 35 in my game, but it seemed to work, and got over by it somehow. ...And his stats are even going down. I can only ever see Jarrett as a heel. It would take too much to try to convince me otherwise.
SamoaRowe - March 20, 2005 06:00 AM (GMT)
Nothing except a valet with large breasts could get fans to cheer for Jeff Jarret (ei, Debra).
Big F'N Swigg - March 20, 2005 04:46 PM (GMT)
My biggest problem is that I've NEVER seen potential in Jarrett. EVER. Even when I was a mark. I'm from Tennessee, and I hated that he was from TN because I was afraid everyone would think that Tennesseeans were talentless blonde retards.
So booking him is near impossible.
SamoaRowe - March 20, 2005 07:52 PM (GMT)
I was enjoying using Jarrett in my own diary for a while, though that was fueled by the fact that I like it when he fights against Raven. I fired Jarrett after only having him around for a month in the game world.

yes, but he's UNSACKABLE!!!
And can someone help me with a name for a British Tag Team
D.A.V.E. - March 20, 2005 10:03 PM (GMT)
The British Empire
The Crown Jewels
Shit like that?

That helps.
But I'm also looking for something actually British. Like British slang
Scrooge McSuck - March 20, 2005 10:15 PM (GMT)
The Limey Fruits has a nice ring to it.
D.A.V.E. - March 21, 2005 12:26 AM (GMT)
Something that rhymes with wankers, i think. The problem with British slang is it's completely incomprehensible unless you're working class, british or watching Eastenders (c.f. Don Cheadle's character in Ocean's 11)
If you want, Swiggy, look up a cokney dictionary, of sorts, on the net, It might point you in the right direction
Mad Dog - March 21, 2005 01:57 AM (GMT)
Jarrett usually ends up in tag matches and usually drops the title after two months in my TNA feds. In the current one I started after a recent update he dropped the title after a 2 month feud to the Rock that was highly entertaining. Though I've been clueless on what to do with him afterwards.
My federations almost always turn into AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels fighting for the World Title.
Scrooge McSuck - March 21, 2005 02:04 AM (GMT)
My federations in EWR (before I just gave up) always seemed to be me pushing has-beens like Sting and Hulk Hogan over everyone else, especially when the TNA budget could barely afford them to begin with.
Big F'N Swigg - March 21, 2005 02:49 AM (GMT)
I usually push Raven, Kid Kash, and whoever I can steal from WWE. But this one is working out better as I'm trying to make it more realistic
D.A.V.E. - March 21, 2005 04:59 PM (GMT)
Just another suggestion for the British tag team, I don't know wether anyone in AMerica is aware of the phenomonen of "Chavs', but it's known over here. The FWA group is even planning a Special K type group based off them. You can find out about them
here and
here

Ooooh, that's right, I forgot he's unsackable in TNA :P I only had Jarrett because I bought out TNA, I keep forgetting that I didn't steal him.
Well, he's sort of up there in the years, play long enough and hopefully he'll retire ;)
Real F'n Show - March 24, 2005 10:37 PM (GMT)
Why can't I stick with a diary for more than a month? Do I have A.D.D.?

Nah, maybe you're just very ambitious. I'm surprised I've stuck with mine as long as I have.
Mad Dog - March 25, 2005 06:19 PM (GMT)
I can never stick with a WWF one for very long because there's just too much tv to deal with.
Indies are hard because your guys are constantly getting stolen and you have to manage who goes on your shows.
Mad Dog - March 26, 2005 07:54 AM (GMT)
Kid Kash has been a powerhouse in my current TNA game. He's at a 91 over right now and is the current United States champion. He also held the NWA World Title briefly as he beat the Rock but then lost it back to the Rock later in the night. He also held the Tag Titles with Glen Gilberti for a few months.
Christopher Daniels just dropped the X Division Title back to AJ Styles so he can go after the NWA World Title.

I actually prefer the smaller feds. Even though it's a pain to lose guys to bigger feds, I like the fact that it forces me to elevate my lower card.
Mad Dog - March 26, 2005 04:40 PM (GMT)
I just called a guy up from my Devopmental league who has a 96 in brawling and speed plus an 87 in technical.
I also just had B-Boy win the X Division Title for his feud with Super Dragon.

I have a second EWR game going now where I quit WWF to form my own smaller company with a handful of guys. I'm at national but I really felt like an independent considering some of the talent I had working for me.
What I like most about it is that I only have one tv show. My current diary is fun and all, but as you can tell from my past four shows, writing out Raw's and Smackdown's gets really old with time.

I always get tired of my roster after a certain point.
It's either that, or all my roster gets too over too quickly
Scrooge McSuck - April 1, 2005 04:31 AM (GMT)
Too much TV makes fantasy booknig boring quite quickly, and having too few wrestlers makes it boring because it's the same stuff all the time. I wonder if I can fight my way around this... (plans a Wrestlecrap Diary)
The Last Free Voice - April 4, 2005 09:54 PM (GMT)
Let it be known, losing Joe in your ROH game can really screw you up royal.
D.A.V.E. - April 4, 2005 10:34 PM (GMT)
Let it be known II, hiring Shane Douglas, if you run the WWE, pisses a lot of people off.
Big F'N Swigg - April 4, 2005 11:00 PM (GMT)

I should stop using my development. A lot of them come out really, really good...too good. It almost feels like I'm cheating because most of my matches are at least ***. My only other thought is when hiring new people and send them to development, hire wrestlers with lower stats to start.
Mad Dog - April 5, 2005 04:35 AM (GMT)
He got dropped from the WWF developmental with pretty high stats. Though he doesn't really have good chemistry with many on the roster.

Here's a question:
Have you ever had a feud planned with one wrestler, and have it work out with another just as well or even better?
Because the feud in my diary with 3LK & The Insurgence worked out better than I thought it would. It was originally going to be 3LK vs Corino & The Naturals. But I couldn't get Corino, so I moved Shelley (who happens to be my favorite character at the moment) and signed The Outlaw for the Veteran's Experience. I then brought in Prince Nana and now it's working better than I ever thought it would
Big F'N Swigg - April 23, 2005 11:12 PM (GMT)
Here's something I'm wondering:
Does anyone book ahead of time, and plot it out? I myself book mostly on the fly, with some idea of where I'm going.
Mad Dog - April 23, 2005 11:13 PM (GMT)
I book on the fly for the most part.
I just had Colt Cabana and Hiroshi Tanahashi win the RoH Tag Team Titles.
D.A.V.E. - April 23, 2005 11:33 PM (GMT)
Honest to god, at one point, I had four months of tv, barring debuts at the start of every month, sketched out on paper. For instance, in my game, which u can read on this fine forum, I'm at the Royal Rumble, and I already know at least six of my WM Matches

Colt Cabana is one of my wrestlers in my game who is almost god-like in stats. I would have kept him anyhow, but now he's just that much better.

Since I don't update the journal part of it and I have just been playing the game itself lately, I'll just have to fill you in. Lately my feuds revolve around people who don't want to negotiate with me who are main eventers in the game, but refuse to negotiate with me, and then having them lose to put more loyal and talented wrestlers over.

I thought that I was using my older stars to put over my younger ones, and then I realized I had Jarrett, Nash and Hall vs. DDP, Dustin Rhodes and Monty Brown. I'm hoping to correct that soon.
