I absolutely LOVED the breakdown in AFI's song "Death of Seasons" so I want to find some more industrial type stuff. So, you allk now the game. Spit bands out for me to check out, since I'm in a good enough mood to wait to download some stuff.

Try Skinny Puppy, Kraftwerk, Afrika Bambataa, Circle of Dust, Nine Inch Nails, Argyle Park/AP2, Cabaret Voltaire, Lords of Acid, My Life with The Thrill Kill Kult, Meat Beat Manifesto, and of course KMFDM(and MDFMK)
Oh, and Pig. Yes Pig. Really good, dark, creepy industrial.

For some reason a band named pig that does dark, creepy industrial just seems perfect for me. Gracias.

No problem. Most of my friends in high school were into industrial, and if I would've had more money I would've too

How would one go about making industrial music? Beat machine? really kickass guitar distortion pedal?

It started as sampled noises from everyday stuff...traffic, machines, etc. It took guys like Trent Reznor to commercialize it and make it musical.
Swigg, abot your list. Afrika Bambatta? Industrial? I would more classify him as Funk/early Rap.
Oh yeah, Ministry is who my Industrial friends dig. I think KMFDM is pretty cool.

Yeah, they're more Funk/Rap than most industrial acts, but there are elements of industrial in their music at times. Also, they kind of get lumped with the early industrial acts like Kraftwerk.
EDIT: Since you mentioned sampled noises, Kraftwerk's first album "Autobahn" was made using nothing but car noises.

I saw Kraftwerk open for U2 in 1992. Wierd live act.
