Title: OAO TV Discussion
Description: 3/7-3/13
Mad Dog - March 8, 2005 09:09 PM (GMT)
So I watched a half hour of Raw last night live. I usually tape and FF through 90% of the show. So here's what I was treated to in 30 minutes.
At least 6 commercial breaks. I swear there was as much or more commercial than actual show.
A useless Playboy segment.
Another useless Divas segment that eat up most of the time.
Two recaps of Triple H injuring Rosey. Gee it's funny he gets repeated reshowings of him beating up nobody but if another heel does anything it's immediately forgotten.
Hassan trying to get into WrestleMania.
Batista and Flair's entrances.
So a forth of the show and there were zero matches, nothing other than women's crap was accomplished and that was only to hype Christy in Playboy. Raw is so mucc better when you can FF through most of it. It also makes me appreciate Impact and the fact that almost all of the segments on there have some purpose.

Sucks that you missed two really good matches in Benoit/Benjamin and Edge/Jericho. Both were fun as hell.
whitemilesdavis - March 9, 2005 01:05 AM (GMT)
I was really disappointed in Benoit / Benjamin, and we've just seen Edge / Jericho so many times. Plus, it had the standard WWE ref bump. You didn't miss much in my view.
Scrooge McSuck - March 9, 2005 01:28 AM (GMT)
I didn't watch RAW, and I miss the announce of the 6th participant of the ladder match being...
KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE!
Even as a face, Bischoff still does the "Kane thing".
whitemilesdavis - March 9, 2005 01:49 AM (GMT)
You gotta admit, that is not the match for Kane.
Real F'n Show - March 11, 2005 12:28 AM (GMT)
Edge/Jericho had some cool armwork, with Edge selling a lot better than you'd expect. Ref bump kinda hurt it, but it's nice to see some psychology. **1/4
Benoit/Benjamin was a great sprint. Cool amateur sequence to start; Benoit fucking DYING on a missed tope into a ladder; and an awesome reversal sequence leading into the finish. **1/2
Scrooge McSuck - March 11, 2005 01:12 AM (GMT)
JBL "destroying" the belt made my night, although it barely been scratched I bet.
Scrooge McSuck - March 11, 2005 03:11 AM (GMT)
Kurt Angle vs. Marty Jannetty next week... I don't care if it's a 6 second suckfest, I'm marking the freak out.
Big F'N Swigg - March 11, 2005 03:15 AM (GMT)
I never thought I'd be so thankful to see that ugly US Title back. The real one, not Cena's.
And like Polo, I'd be marking out for Jannetty
EDIT: Who is Akebono? Is he an active worker, or just a special occasion deal?
Mad Dog - March 11, 2005 06:36 AM (GMT)
Akebono is a sumo wrestler in Japan. His thing with the Big Show will suck completely.
jamiegeist - March 11, 2005 09:27 AM (GMT)
If they get Jannetty involved in this thing, it will be gold.
I might actually buy a damn pay per view if it had Jannetty v Michaels on it.
jamiegeist - March 11, 2005 09:31 AM (GMT)
I was also wondering where Angle might go with this the next week. So he beats Jannetty, taking out the guy who was buddies and "taught" Michaels. Then what?
Hell in a Cell? Something DX related? A 5 minutes ironman match challenge where Angle wins 12-0? I just wonder what could be next.
I'm easily more excited about this match than any other. And I REALLY think it should be a retirement match, as both guys are in stages of their career where either could go over.
S.T. Strickler - March 11, 2005 02:29 PM (GMT)
I don't like the WWE-style U.S. belt. I like the WCW one even better. Kinda glad they got rid of the "bling-bling showcase" belt of John Cena.
By the way, I enjoyed the Undertaker segment.
Scrooge McSuck - March 11, 2005 06:10 PM (GMT)
I guess Jannetty and HBK patching up their differences and making Jannetty born again (or whatever he did) was what lead to this... too bad he won't stick around. :( Jannetty on Velocity to fill up time would rule.
Real F'n Show - March 13, 2005 12:07 AM (GMT)
London vs. Akio V tonight on Velocity everybody. Tape it, or miss out.
Scrooge McSuck - March 13, 2005 04:58 AM (GMT)
Thankfully I taped Velocity... didn't want to miss this week. Stupid previous engagments...
Real F'n Show - March 13, 2005 04:57 PM (GMT)
London/Akio had some really great selling of the knee by London. Plus a cool fucking frogsplash off the top rope to the outside onto a standing Akio. Match was pretty great.
dynamite kido - March 13, 2005 09:11 PM (GMT)
I've seen better from the both (Actually I liked their Japan Velocity match from a few weeks ago better), but it was a really solid match with good leg work/selling. Hell, I seriously hope that they never decide to put London on SD full time.......it basically makes Velocity watchable everyweek as he seems to get a good amount of Velocity main events.
Scrooge McSuck - March 14, 2005 03:06 AM (GMT)
I still haven't gotten a chance to watch... been weeding out commercials from 21 episode of Wrestling Challenge from the spring of 1991 through spring of 1992. (pimps MMan831)
MillenniumMan831 - March 14, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
All I know is that Jannetty better come down to The Rockers' old theme. And yes, I am bracing myself for his entrance to be longer than the match. Beh, just bring in Al Snow as the cornerman and HBK running interference and it will be the most surreal Smackdown segment ever.
JPAI --- Enjoy those 100 squash matches . . . but Texas Tornado vs. Undertaker is still to come right here on Challenge!
Scrooge McSuck - March 14, 2005 03:51 AM (GMT)
I've already seeded everything out... and damn, how did the WWF get away with having 'Taker squash Kerry Von Erich in less than 2 minutes?!
MillenniumMan831 - March 14, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
Ya gotta love how Undertaker completely brushed off the discus punch . . . I mean hell, I think Jim Powers gave the Undertaker a better run for his money than Von Erich.
Scrooge McSuck - March 14, 2005 03:58 AM (GMT)
Oh well... having Undertaker squash people like Kerry Von Erich and Greg Valentine was a lot more important for a world title feud than squashing Koko B. Ware and Tito Santana (like everyone else has).
Jim Powers?!
MillenniumMan831 - March 14, 2005 04:04 AM (GMT)
Just a random name dropping for Powers. Flaie beat him in his debut on one of the tapes.
At least Valentine tried to cheat to win by blatantly grabbing the ropes while having UT in the Figure 4.
Scrooge McSuck - March 14, 2005 04:09 AM (GMT)
And the Undertaker pretty much no sold it, except the referee should've counted since his shoulders were both down!
MillenniumMan831 - March 14, 2005 04:15 AM (GMT)
Then, we'd be bitching about how old man Valentine won't put anyone over instead of how old man Taker won't put anyone over.
Scrooge McSuck - March 14, 2005 04:17 AM (GMT)
Speaking of old man, I can't wait for Marty Jannetty to show up on Smackdown! (watches best of Marty Jannetty... on crack tape)
MillenniumMan831 - March 14, 2005 04:18 AM (GMT)
