Title: Michael Shane
Description: .....

So apparently, Michael Shane may have to change his ring name because of WWE signing the Shane Twins. One of them is Mike Shane, and WWE may be copyrighting the name.
But this is from LordsofPain, so take it with a grain of salt.
EDIT: It's also on PWInsider, so it may be true.

 Silly WWE. Always copyrighting everything.

The way copyrighting a name works ( and I know this because of legal issues with my band a few years back) he probably won't have to change his name. WWE could only sue him if they could prove that he were trying profit from having the same name, and then he would only be liable for the money he made portraying himself as the WWE's Mike Shane. Now, TNA may have him change it so that there won't be confusion, or any threat of legal action.

I don't think Michael Shane should have to change his name at all. WWE, in their creative genius, will probably give the Shanes a new name or something.

I vote for "The Johnson's."
Actually, if Shane could prove that he had established the name before his WWE counterparts, regardless of who held the copyright, he could have a legal basis for them to change their name. Tricky stuff, trying to copyright a proper name.

As long as Shane has been wrestling by that name for longer, I don't see how they can make a big thing out of it. (Strike that. To the WWE, they would make a big deal about anything. Even if it isn't original on their part.

The real threat would be that WWE has a lot more money to burn in court than TNA, so TNA may find it easier to settle rather than battle WWE's lawyers, even though TNA would probably win.

Yeah. That's the sad part.

They could always try to pull a little reverse by doing an angle where Shane "comes into his inheritance" and starts going by his "family name"; The Heartbreak Nephew Micheal Micheals.

One of the funniest things I've read all day.

And it's actually an angle they could use for a while. Since it's true, I doubt Shawn would let Vince sue his nephew over using his name.

I almost forgot about that.

I really doubt the Shane Twins will be keeping their names. Remember this is the federation that made Shane Helms and Lance Cade change their names because of one other person having the name Shane and Lance on the roster.

Hehe. I wonder what they do come up with now.
