Title: MLB Yahoo Fantasy League...
Description: Anyone up for it?
Scrooge McSuck - February 28, 2005 12:31 AM (GMT)
If we can get at least 8-10 people to participate (either posters here or anyone else someone wants to drag along), I wouldn't mind creating a league. I'm only in 2 right now, and have enough time I think to manage a 3rd.
Scrooge McSuck - February 28, 2005 12:41 AM (GMT)
I created just incase... (hopes)

S.T. Strickler - February 28, 2005 01:08 AM (GMT)
I'm not for all those excess categories. Rather keep it simple, but I might join up.
Real F'n Show - February 28, 2005 01:38 AM (GMT)
I dunno about Live Draft either, but otherwise, I'd be up for it.
Scrooge McSuck - February 28, 2005 02:00 AM (GMT)
I'm only doing Live Draft because of last years... problems with someone elses league with the auto draft. It's basically the same thing, but it's an insurance policy incase the auto draft decides to not work.
As for the extra amount of categories... it prevents "fluke wins" by having 5 categories for batting when someone might have David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, and Gary Sheffield on their team who are known for their long ball and RBIs, while the opponent has non-home run players who have a bigger run scoring number than RBI number.
S.T. Strickler - February 28, 2005 03:29 AM (GMT)
Sounds rather simple, and it gives others a chance.
Scrooge McSuck - February 28, 2005 04:14 AM (GMT)
If I can get some people to join, and the majority feel it's too many, I won't mind reducing it.

Big F'N Swigg - February 28, 2005 06:44 PM (GMT)
I pray to God that I at least come out ahead of Bobcat. That's all I wish.
Scrooge McSuck - February 28, 2005 06:52 PM (GMT)
I won in my league last year. I'm pretty good if I care enough to participate all season.
Big F'N Swigg - February 28, 2005 06:57 PM (GMT)
I never keep up as much as I should. But, I never let losing get me down! :D
Scrooge McSuck - February 28, 2005 07:09 PM (GMT)
Register and try to beat me, girly man. If you already did... uh... (runs) Come on Yankees!
Big F'N Swigg - February 28, 2005 09:54 PM (GMT)
I'm the Brass Monkeys. Don't ask me why, it just happened.
Scrooge McSuck - February 28, 2005 10:00 PM (GMT)
... ;) Prepare to get your ass haw-kicked! (does a funky dance)

Real F'n Show - March 1, 2005 12:53 AM (GMT)
My computer fucked up the last time I tried to download that Live Draft thing off Yahoo. Or have they changed it?
Scrooge McSuck - March 1, 2005 12:57 AM (GMT)
It's just a screen that loads up... I forgot what it's called, but I use it all the time for Strip Poker... er... I mean... uh... have an echilada bitch.
100% safe when I used it for my 3 NBA leagues, and my computer sucks dick.
Big F'N Swigg - March 8, 2005 11:20 PM (GMT)
Is anybody else on for the draft?
prof_plague - March 9, 2005 01:15 AM (GMT)
Well, I do suck at baseball anything. I'm actually joining a Yahoo Fantasy League with a couple friends on mine, and they're doing the live draft.
And as for me sucking, to give you an idea how much...I named my team the Spiders. :P
Scrooge McSuck - March 9, 2005 01:23 AM (GMT)
I named one of my team the Cleveland Spiders... and to prove my point, I drafted nothing but rookies and players past their prime. (like Roberto Alomar past it, not Clemens past it).
S.T. Strickler - March 9, 2005 02:27 AM (GMT)
Man, I lost track of time and forgot to draft my team. But it looks like I got some good players.
Big F'N Swigg - March 11, 2005 01:50 AM (GMT)
When does the season start?
Scrooge McSuck - March 11, 2005 01:55 AM (GMT)
April 4th I believe... and how could you pick Aaron Boone?
Big F'N Swigg - March 11, 2005 02:10 AM (GMT)
You know, I loved him when he played for the Reds. I honestly think their decision to get rid of him was ridiculous. Same with Dmitri Young. They were fan favorites. Though I do agree that Dmitri isn't as much of a producer as Adam Dunn, who replaced him.
Big F'N Swigg - April 3, 2005 10:07 PM (GMT)
So someone explain to me how the games work.
Scrooge McSuck - April 3, 2005 10:13 PM (GMT)
Easy... uh... whoever's players tally the most points in a certain category wins that.
For example... I combine for 12 doubles, while my opponent combines for only 9. I win that point, and lead 1-0.
The same goes for every category. However, in categories like pitchers walks and ERA, the lowest tally gets the point.
Big F'N Swigg - April 3, 2005 10:39 PM (GMT)
So are the games weekly? Or are they twice a week?
Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2005 03:21 AM (GMT)
Head to Head is once a week for 22 weeks (I think that many) for regular season (stats of course, are tallied for the entire weeks play).
You'll probably play me 3 times.
Big F'N Swigg - April 7, 2005 01:51 AM (GMT)
If someone is on the bench, do their stats count at all? Just curious
Scrooge McSuck - April 7, 2005 02:48 PM (GMT)
No. You have to have a player in a position or as the UTIL man, otherwise their stats are worth as much as a pile of hobo poop.
Ditto for pitchers.
Big F'N Swigg - April 8, 2005 01:50 AM (GMT)
That's good to know.
If you switch your rosters during the day, does it take effect the next day?
Scrooge McSuck - April 8, 2005 02:04 AM (GMT)
Yes. For instance, if you set your roster like this...
LF Carl Crawford
CF Bernie Williams
RF Jacque Jones
This will how the position will be remained until you change it. So if you do this...
RF Jacques Jones to
RF Aubrey Huff
Then the roster will be Crawford, Bernie and Huff until the next time you change it.
Big F'N Swigg - April 9, 2005 07:59 PM (GMT)
Ok, with pitchers, what does ^ mean?
example: Nolan Ryan SP ^@NYY
Scrooge McSuck - April 9, 2005 08:01 PM (GMT)
That means they are the starting pitcher for the day. Having them on the bench would be a no-no, unless his name is Hideo Nomo. :)
Big F'N Swigg - April 9, 2005 08:05 PM (GMT)
Scrooge McSuck - April 9, 2005 08:34 PM (GMT)
No-no on Nomo is a yes-yes.
Big F'N Swigg - April 13, 2005 02:01 AM (GMT)
Could someone please hand me my ass back?
Scrooge McSuck - April 13, 2005 02:13 AM (GMT)
Don't worry... you'll bounce back. Last year I was in the basement for most of the season, but managed to make the playoffs and won the championship.
I got my ass handed to me too, with my best roster! In a league wher eI used nothing but players under 27 years old, I killed my opponent 15-8!
Big F'N Swigg - April 17, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
Holy crap, I'm actually winning for once
Big F'N Swigg - May 1, 2005 02:15 PM (GMT)
Hey Scrooge, How 'bout them Yankees? 16-6 bad enough for you?
