Title: ROH 2/25
Description: results and such

Big F'N Swigg - February 26, 2005 05:54 PM (GMT)
Air Devils (Sydal & Fast Eddie) d. Dunn & Marcos
-The match wasn't spectacular, but it was a decent start to the night. Fast Eddie needs to start living up to his name as even my wife thought that the match looked REALLY choreographed. Sydal delivered a good high spot from the turnbuckle to the outside, and even did the standing moonsault, with Eddie refusing to risk himself. Afterward, Eddie turned on Sydal by joining the Embassy. Nana ran his mouth about Jimmy Rave being the inventor of the "Rave Clash" and Rave demonstrated on Sydal.

Homicide d. Puma
-Decent match with LOTS of heat on Julius Smokes, including a "Julius Smokes Cock" chant. Puma got in a suprising amount of offense, and looked really good. Most people didn't notice, as they would rather taunt Julius. After Homicide picked up the win, he continued his assault on Puma while Julius called out Danielson. Danielson was held back by security while Homicide and Smokes assaulted his student.

Colt Cabana d. Nigel McGuiness
-Both guys had fun with this match, which had a strong British overtone. Dueling chants (ugh) through the match, and some entertaining dialogue and reactions from both competitors. Cabana gets the win, but the walk out as friends.

Screw Sports Entertainment Match
-I really can't recall who won, but Gibson held a huge advantage for a majority of the match. A humongous "Smackdown Sucks" chant started the match, which Spanky responding to by saying "I didn't do Smackdown, I did Velocity." It wasn't as "full-tilt" as I expected, but it was good. After the match she asked me "What was it building up to?" Noble got a HUGE ovation, and seemed to love it.

Womens 4-way
Daizee Haze won. She did a leap off of the turnbuckle. That's about all I have to say.
-

Punk d. Shelley
-Good match. The story goes like this: Punk didn't believe Shelley was face. Shelley goes the match trying not to fight dirty. Punk beats the crap out of Shelley, who fights back clean. Punk wins, Shelley apologizes for being an asshole, and says he should've been learning from Steamboat & Foley instead of being a prick in GN. Punk gets Foley-style cheap pop with "Right Here, in Dayton OHIO!" and then relies with "I learned from Foley, right?" Punk told Shelley that he forgives him, but he's not forgetting. Good stuff.

Joe & Danielson d. Evans & Aries.
-Danielson has a beard. And not the same way Aries does. It's more Amish than Attitude. Evans starts out by being a prick, and "Serves" Danielson. Danielson asks Joe to join him, and they do the "Too Cool" arm wave. The crowd eats it up. Danielson and Evans have at it, and Danielson one ups him every time. One spot includes Danielson laying out Evans, and then "Busting a move" by doing some Guerrero style reversals with and invisible partner. The crowd chants "You got served" at Evans. Aries part in the match was very little. He basically let Evans do all the work, even after Evans got the shit kicked out of him. There are two things of note that Aries did: 1) He had Danielson in a rest hold, and a fan chanted "We Want Joe." Aries replied "No, we don't want Joe. Joe hurts people." 2) After Evans escapes outside from a submission move, Aries told him "See, I saw that coming. That's why you gotta get tapes, Jack." Joe comes in here and there, and eventually knocks Evans out of his shoes. Danielson & Joe take them back to their corner. Evans gets a pin on Danielson a little later and Joe throws the show at Evans. The ref comes over and Joe blames a fan. Aries gets a pin a little later and Joe throws the shoe at the ref, and then jumps off the apron and "threatens" the fan for doing such a thing. (Note: I'd remember more of the match if some asshole wasn't chanting "Let's Go Joe" when Joe wasn't even tagged in. I now know why they don't serve alcohol at the shows. The crowd was chant crazy as is.) After the match Homicide and Danielson brawl it out in the open space next to the entrance and near the crowd.

Rave d. Styles
-I can't say much about this match. It was good, though. Rave and Styles went back and forth. No Clash from either man. Nana was entertaining as usual, including calling a kid sitting behind me "fat boy" when the kid must've been 140 and around 5'9". He also made Rave's valet take off her shirt and get on her knees so Rave could use her as a stepstool to get into the ring. The finish was cheap, but effective with Rave getting the win thanks to his valet giving him air freshener to blind Styles. The crowd gave Styles a huge ovation afterwards and a "Welcome Back" chant before the match started. They did brawl around a bit, but it seemed like a standard Styles match.
------------------------

All in all, well worth it. Which is why ROH has been around for three years. They'll be back in Dayton on May 13th, and I'll be there, this time with better seats.

I would also like to add that my wife thought Aries was boring and didn't get his character over well. Which made me laugh when she told me that.

He does have a KICK ASS entrance, though.

This actually sounds more promising than many of their recent shows IMO. But that seriously had to be the lamest finish in the fucking history of the earth for Styles/Rave.

What was the best match Swiggy?

Mad Dog - February 26, 2005 10:42 PM (GMT)
That's the kind of end to a match and a show that makes you want to burn the building down afterwards.

About a million ughs to the entire booking to the main event but it's a definate step up with some interesting matches and there not being the 52386234723rd meeting between Homicide and Danielson.

EDIT: Also boo to a women's match on the show. The last thing RoH needs to be doing right now is flirting with a women's division.

I've never agreed with something more in my life.

Real F'n Show - February 27, 2005 12:59 AM (GMT)
Noble made Spanky submit.

Apparently Noble got a 3-4 minute standing O after the match, too.

Cool report Swiggy, glad to hear you had a good time.

Let's see. The most entertaining match of the night was by far the Joe/Danielson vs GN tag match. But as I hinted at, Aries didn't do much in the match. Which is probably why it was so entertaining. As for the best technical match, I'd say the Screw Sports Entertainment match followed by Colt vs Nigel.

I also forgot about the Whitmer/Maff vs Jacobs/Delirous match. It went something like this:

Jimmy Jacobs: Hi, I'm Jimmy Jacobs and this is my partner Delirious.

Delirious: BAH! BA BAH!

Dan Maff: Hi I'm Dan Maff, and this is my partner BJ Whitmer.

BJ Whitmer: Uh, Jimmy, here's your ass.

**AND SCENE!**

EDIT: I'd also like to add that though the finish was fairly lame, it was pretty creative. I didn't see it coming.
