Newswire For The Week Of February 20th!!!
2/20/05
ROH

February 21st: New Ring Of Honor Tag Team Champions Dan Maff & BJ Whitmer have stated that their goal is to become the longest reigning ROH Tag Team Champions. Maff said, "The only one they'll get these belts is to pry them from our cold, dead bodies." Maff & Whitmer will defend the belts on 2/25 in Dayton, OH at the Montgomery County Fairground Coliseum against a team that earned a victory last time in Dayton, Jimmy Jacobs & Delirious.

February 21st: Another huge match has been signed for 2/26 in Chicago Ridge, IL as hometown boy CM Punk will take on Jimmy Rave of The Embassy. Punk embarrassed The Embassy's leader Prince Nana last Saturday in New Jersey and now Nana is sending Rave after the leader of The Second City Saints. This coming weekend will be huge for Jimmy Rave as he takes on AJ Styles on Friday in Dayton and then Punk the next night.

February 21st: The first ever women's Four Corner Survival has been signed for 2/25 in Dayton pitting Tracy Brooks vs. Lacey vs. Daizee Haze vs. Allison Danger.

February 21st: Ring Of Honor would like to thank the 1200 fans in attendance on 2/19 that were on hand to celebrate our third birthday. The party is just getting started as the celebration continues this weekend in Dayton and Chicago. The hottest selling items at the ROH merchandise table are now available at ROHwrestling.com including the exclusive, new Japanese merchandise. This includes bobble head dolls and rare shirts for Kawada, Kobashi, Kojima, Misawa, Kenta, Great Muta, C.T.U., Nagata, Tiger Mask and others. You can't get this merchandise anywhere else!!!

February 21st: There was a backstage meeting on 2/19 before the show between Jack Evans and Alex Shelley. You will see this meeting on the home release. Evans told Shelley that he was on the Austin Aries/Roderick Strong side and that Shelley better stay out of their business or he would get beatdown. Shelley cut a promo later in the night saying that he was wrong for trying to take shortcuts in 2004 and now he realizes his mistakes. He asked everyone to forgive him. Many members of the ROH locker room will not forgive Shelley for what he did in the past. Jimmy Jacobs is just one example. Shelley also stated that he wanted revenge on Strong and to take the World Title from Aries.

February 21st: The 2/19 home release will be the biggest ROH home release ever. Not only will you see the entire 11 match "Third Anniversary Celebration Week: I" show, but there will be a lengthy ROH 3rd year memorable moments highlight package. There will also be lots and lots of promos and a parking lot brawl between Homicide and Bryan Danielson.

February 21st: Roderick Strong injured his ankle in Scramble Cage. We will have an update soon on him.

February 21st: Kevin Steen, El Generico and Vordell Walker were all on the "do" side of the 2/19 "Do Or Die IV" event and will be on future shows.

February 21st: We will have Samoa Joe's reaction tomorrow right here at ROHwrestling.com to the fact that Austin Aries was the one that handed Mick Foley the chair on 1/15. Foley has recommended Aries to the WWE writing team.

QUOTE (BigSwiggy @ Feb 22 2005, 11:28 AM)
February 21st: Kevin Steen, El Generico and Vordell Walker were all on the "do" side of the 2/19 "Do Or Die IV" event and will be on future shows.

What about B-Boy? He's easily the most talented wrestler on any of the Do or Die cards. Why not make him another member of the Rottweilers?

dynamite kido - February 22, 2005 06:07 PM (GMT)
Personally, I have no clue why B-Boy hasn't been brought up to their main roster yet either.

Mad Dog - February 23, 2005 10:09 AM (GMT)
Probably the same reason they've never brought in Chris Hero. The RoH mutants would shit all over them for whatever reason (some mythical workrate that they only understand and can't explain to anyone else).

But RoH is really weird about things like this. They pass on a lot of talented guys over and over for whatever reason while bringing in the Justin Credible's and Teddy Hart's of the world.

dynamite kido - February 23, 2005 07:09 PM (GMT)
Well, it's pretty obvious that the mutants would hate on Hero. I do like Hero, but I also understand that he's not everyone's cup of tea. But if B-Boyy fights on the convention shows already and he basically is known by the ROH faithfuls (at least if they watch other indies) then I don't really see what the setback is?

Big F'N Swigg - February 24, 2005 03:13 PM (GMT)
February 22nd: This is such a huge news week that there will be two newswires today!!! We apologize for any problems you might have had with ROHwrestling.com over the past day, but we were switching to a larger server. You should not have any problems with the site now. The birthday party continues all this week at the ROH's offices, but its time to get to business with the latest news....

February 22nd: AJ Styles told ROH officials that this Friday in Dayton will be a very emotional night for him as he finally gets to step foot in a ROH ring for the first time in almost a year. Styles said it will also be emotional because he will be across the ring from a man he once considered his friend. AJ feels betrayed by Jimmy Rave and he has had the aggressions building up since 7/17/03 when Rave joined The Embassy. Now Styles will unleash all those months of aggression on Rave this Friday at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds Coliseum.

February 22nd: The next tryouts for the ROH Wrestling School are Sunday, March 6th. The school is located outside of Philadelphia and CM Punk is the head trainer. ROH recently upgraded the school by adding new equipment including a gym. The first class of the ROH wrestling school has already had the opportunity to work in several different promotions including ROH. You will be prepared for the wrestling world when you graduate from the ROH Wrestling School.

February 22nd: ROHwrestling.com now exclusively carries Full Impact Pro DVDs. The first FIP DVD has been released. It is a special two disc set of FIP's 16 man heavyweight title tournament for just $20. The tournament featured some great matches including first round bouts like Austin Aries vs. Roderick Strong, AJ Styles vs. Homicide, CM Punk vs. Vordell Walker, Jason Cross vs. Rainman, Jerrelle Clark vs. Slim J and more. Order now at ROHwrestling.com for immediate delivery.

February 22nd: Prince Nana claims that a new member of The Embassy will debut this Friday in Dayton. Nana says he might have to add an additional tax on the citizens of Ghana, West Africa to pay for this new recruit.

February 22nd: Generation Next offered Alex Shelley a chance to back out of his match this Saturday in Chicago against Jack Evans. Shelley refused and said that he wanted to stretch Evans. Generation Next leader and ROH World Champion Austin Aries said Shelley has signed his death certificate if he goes through with the match and gets into Generation Next business.

February 22nd: Jim Cornette is very confident that he has the right men to finish the job on Bobby "The Brain" Heenan this Saturday in Chicago Ridge, IL at the Frontier Fieldhouse. We have been unable to figure out who Cornette has lined up, but we do know that it is someone on the current ROH roster. There is no telling what will happen on 2/26 when Heenan and Cornette come face-to-face again. This is history in the making!!!

February 22nd: All the teams for next Saturday's six man tag team tournament in Philadelphia, PA have been announced. Samoa Joe was so impressed with Vordell Walker last Saturday that in a surprise he has chosen Walker to round out the Joe and Bryan Danielson team. This will be a huge opportunity for wrestling's hottest prospect. The first round matches will be announced next week right here at ROHwrestling.com. Each member of the winning team will be able to book themselves in any match that they want. General admission tickets are just $15 instead of the normal $20. The eight teams in no particular order are:

-Samoa Joe, Bryan Danielson & Vordell Walker
-The indy dream team of Spanky, James Gibson (formerly Jamie Knoble in WWE) & Nigel McGuinness
-The Rottweilers of Homicide, Ricky Reyes & Rocky Romero with Julius Smokes
-Generation Next of ROH World Champ Austin Aries, Roderick Strong & Jack Evans
-The Second City Saints & Extreme Horsemen combo of CM Punk, Steve Corino & Colt Cabana
-Prince Nana's Embassy
-The Ring Crew Express of Dunn & Marcos plus El Generico
-From the first class of the ROH Wrestling School Davey Andrews, Shane Hagadorn & Anthony Turner

February 24th: The party is still going strong at the ROH offices as we head into the huge double shot weekend to end the Third Anniversary Celebration Week. The offices will be closed until Monday since we will be at the shows. There will be tickets available at the door for both the Friday show in Dayton, OH and Saturday show in Chicago Ridge, IL. Check the upcoming events section of ROHwrestling.com for directions and more info.

February 24th: Colt Cabana will hold a live "Good Times, Great Memories" this Saturday in his hometown of Chicago and the guest will be the legendary Bobby "The Brain" Heenan!!! This will take place in the ring during the show. You better believe Jim Cornette will be paying attention to this. Cornette says his mistake on 12/4 at "All Star Extravaganza II" was treating Heenan like an old man, Cornette says this time he's not going to pull any punches and he is treating it like it's "The Louisville Slugger" vs. "The Brain."

February 24th: Samoa Joe stated on the 2/19 home release that his new goal is to be the first triple crown champion in ROH by holding the World, Pure and Tag Team titles. Joe has a chance to become ROH World Champion again this Saturday in Chicago when he faces Austin Aries in what many consider the biggest match of the Third Anniversary Celebration Week. This have been pretty quiet in the camp of Aries especially after his invitation to WWE's Smackdown taping last Tuesday. Mick Foley's call to the writers obviously paid off as Aries was asked to be at the tapings. ROH officials have been trying to get word from Aries on his future involvement with WWE, but Aries' camp has been hushed.

February 24th: Joe and Aries will get a chance to soften each other up the night before on 2/25 in Dayton at the Montgomery County Fairground Coliseum. They will be part of a huge tag team main event when Joe teams with Bryan Danielson and Aries with Jack Evans. This will mark the first time Danielson steps foot in the ring with Aries in ROH since their legendary 75 minute match at "Testing The Limit." It is also the first time Danielson and Evans are in the same ring since Danielson twisted Evans like a pretzel at "Survival Of The Fittest." Evans says that he's going to teach Danielson a lesson this time. If Danielson is able to pin Aries, he will be in line for a World Title shot.

February 24th: Before Danielson can worry about winning the World Title, he faces the possibility of being swept 3-0 by Homicide in their best of five series if he loses the Falls Count Anywhere match on 2/26 in Chicago at the Frontier Fieldhouse. Danielson and Homicide have been involved in some of the wildest brawls in ROH history. Their fights are fueled by hatred and intensity. There is no telling where the brawl will end up this Saturday. Homicide also says he's going to send a message to Danielson in Dayton. We aren't sure what he means by this.

February 24th: James Gibson and Spanky are both really looking forward to their match Friday night in Dayton. They have both commented that their won't be any writers telling them what to do nor any agents telling them what not to do. They both look forward to testing their skills against each other with no limitations and tearing down the house. It is an important match for both men as they each need a win to get into title contention.

February 24th: Everyone who has seen the new Straight Shootin' With Raven & Sandman has been raving about it. This is the most outrageous shoot interview ever. In fact, it isn't really an interview, but more of a conversation between these old friends. They hold nothing back in telling insane stories about drugs, girls and of course all the wild times in ECW. They also discuss their legendary feud. You will never look at ECW the same way after seeing this edition of ROH's Straight Shootin' Series. It is available now for immediate delivery at ROHwrestling.com. You will laugh, you will be entertained and you will be shocked with what you hear in this one!!!

February 24th: Another match has been signed for 3/12 in Woodbridge, CT. ROH's New Haven area debut will have a huge tag team grudge match pitting Lacey's Special K of Izzy & Deranged vs. the other half of Special K in Dixie & Azrieal. The winners will get the Special K name!!! If you are interested in coming from NYC you can sit back and relax by taking a bus trip. Email Agentclpt@aol.com for info.

February 24th: A few matches will be added to the Chicago area 2/26 event the night of the show. There will be at least nine matches. ROH Tag Team Champions Dan Maff & BJ Whitmer want to get Nigel McGuinness in the ring since McGuinness scored a pin on Whitmer last time in Chicago. The Tag Champs want to even the score. We'll find out exactly what the match is the night of the show.

February 24th: We will be back on Monday with a huge newswire including the brackets for the six man tag team tournament next Saturday in Philadelphia. The eight teams were announced yesterday in the newswire at ROHwrestling.com. In the meantime, check out our authentic shirts from Japan. These are the real deal. All you have to do is look at the label to see that these shirts are the official ones as released by New Japan, All Japan and NOAH. We have exclusive shirts of some of the biggest stars in Japan as well as bobble head dolls and more items you won't find anywhere else. We have exclusive merch off all your favorites like Kawada, Misawa, Kojima, Kobashi, Muta, Kenta, Nagata and many others

February 24th: One match not to overlooked is the women's Four Corner Survival in Dayton on 2/25. Lacey, Daizee Haze, Allison Danger and Tracey Brooks are looking to prove that there should be more women's wrestling in ROH. They are sure to pull out all the stops to prove that. This won't be any diva search.

February 24th: Prince Nana wanted to use this space to let Second City Saint leader CM Punk know that Saturday in his hometown will be a night he'll never forget.

whitemilesdavis - February 24, 2005 05:31 PM (GMT)
So Vordell is getting a little push? I mght have to start following ROH now. I'll definitely buy that FIP disc from their site.

That six man tourney could be incredible with Joe's team, Punk's team, and Spanky's team. I'll have to check it out.

Real F'n Show - February 24, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
I agree that the 6-man tourney looks impressive. Can't wait for Knoble in ROH.
