Title: When Did You Become A HHHater

Mad Dog - February 22, 2005 02:08 PM (GMT)
So what event finally turned you on HHH?

I was never a huge fan. I was getting tired of his feud with the Rock in 2000 and most of his political BS at the time. But he was putting on good matches so I was indifferent to him mostly.

The Raw after Royal Rumble before X-8 was what did it for me. I was just sitting there and realized how utterly boring he was. Plus his return messed up Jericho's feud with RVD. But that was the moment when I became a HHHater.

Scrooge McSuck - February 22, 2005 02:12 PM (GMT)
People still use the term "HHHater"? Eh... around Judgment Day 2002, when I finally realized how much stroke Triple H had backstage, and for the fact he squashed Jericho for about the 45th time in 2 years.

SamoaRowe - February 22, 2005 02:13 PM (GMT)
I was a total mark for him from 1999-2001 and I was happy when he came back in early 2002. Wow, I'm ashamed to admit that. Within two months of his return I was bored with him and by the end of that year I couldn't stand him anymore.

I think what really turned me off was the Katie Vick skit.

And as far as his ring work, I was officially HHHating him by Wrestlemania XIX.

Mad Dog - February 22, 2005 02:14 PM (GMT)
I know the HHHate thing is popular among the WWF apologists and I needed a semi-clever title for the thread.

Scrooge McSuck - February 22, 2005 02:16 PM (GMT)
How bout "Haterizing the Game"? At least we don't use that retarded-ass nickname Wrestlecrap.com came up with for Stephanie.

"Nipple H?"

Or am I forgetting it?

Scrooge McSuck - February 22, 2005 02:19 PM (GMT)
That's it... god, what a fucking retarded and uncreative nickname.

Yeah right, you're just uncomfortable with the word "nipple." :P

...you want a piece of this?! I'll smoke you like Chyna smokes a joint of Marijuana.

Hmm. Never seen it that said that way before.

Anyway, I stopped hating HHH a while back. As abd as he is, he's a more consistent performer than most the rest of the roster.

Big F'N Swigg - February 22, 2005 03:08 PM (GMT)
I started hating him around the time he turned his feud with Jericho into a feud with Stephanie before X-8. I still think that if Jericho would've went over HHH at that Mania that it would have solidified Jericho in a Main Event spot. But nooooooo.

Anyway, I'm kind of apathetic towards him now. He's gotten very boring, though on occasion he pulls out a nice old-school move.

How about "smokes a bowl of corn flakes"?

I had kind of become apathetic to him but the belt transitioning from him to him started me on the same path again.

Yeah, Triple H had become a bit more acceptable in 2004 (jobbing to Benoit and Benjamin, putting on good matches again) but it all went down the drain by the end of the year. I think Triple H just snapped from trying to pretend he wasn't a selfish politician and buried Eugene and took the title off of Randy Orton for himself as soon as possible.

Hehe, I didn't help my cause any...

But still... now Triple H has been the only wrestler to hold the World title since September of last year... and Raw has suffered for it.

It's a shame that Benoit's reign didn't do more for ratings, I watched Raw more frequently and intently while he was champion. Benoit's reign suffered a bit when he was stuck in that mess with Eugene, but for the most part, it was a good time.

Real F'n Show - February 22, 2005 06:10 PM (GMT)
I started hating him when I realized that the belt was always being transitioned back to him in time for Mania. Actually it was before that, probably around the time he returned from his quad injury.

dynamite kido - February 22, 2005 06:13 PM (GMT)
The final straw for me was after he decided that it was a GOOD idea to destroy the entire roster, that RAW is STILL digging itself out from.

Yeah, it was nice of Triple H to bury Booker T and Rob Van Dam, make them new career midcarders, and then send them off to Smackdown and go "See, see, Smackdown got big stars in the Draft Lottery too!"

Mad Dog - February 22, 2005 06:47 PM (GMT)
That also drove me nuts. The fact that the entire Lottery last year was just to put over Triple H irritated me to no end.

Not to mention that they just HAD to have Eddie/HHH too....

It could've been worse... at least Triple H didn't pin Eddie. <_<

Scrooge McSuck - February 22, 2005 07:20 PM (GMT)
Who didn't see that coming though (the trade)? No way HHH would've been on Smackdown again.

Now I'm questioning if this would be a good idea again... if WWE decides to do another redrafting of certain people. Some people on Smackdown like Kurt Angle could use a new enviroment (he's been on SD since day 1 of the draft) while people on RAW (Benoit) can go back where they are needed,

Loss - February 22, 2005 07:22 PM (GMT)
Actually, I've resented his push as far back as 1998, when he was going over Owen Hart every month for what was obviously political reasons. When he and Rock stepped up and carried the ball when they were without Austin, Taker or Foley, I respected him for doing so, and I do think he was a terrific champion for the first half of 2000, but he's been mostly useless to me before that and since then.

jamiegeist - February 22, 2005 08:51 PM (GMT)
Mine was definitely shortly after the McMahon-Helmsly Era first started. It wasnt even entertaining. It was just plain stupid.

"Oh yeah Mankind...well this week lets see how you do in a PINK SLIP ON A POLE SUPER HANDICAPPED MATCH AGAINST THE NEW AGE OUTLAWS!!!!! AND THE BIG SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Fuckin stupid. Every week. handicapped matches, lame gimmick matches, and worst of all, Triple H never wrestling and always talking. My how times have.....fuck.

prof_plague - February 22, 2005 11:10 PM (GMT)
I think it was within the past few years, back when started to gain more political power backstage within the decision making and it was becoming blatantly obvious that he was doing steriods. Honestly, in ring, I've been starting to like Triple H better these past few months---as long as I don't think about the fact that he can all himself a 10 time World champion :sigh:, and carry on with suspension of disbelief, I'm starting to like Triple H nowadays.

Triple H was on my good side for most of 2004... he's on my bad side now. I really want to see Batista destroy him at Wrestlemania, which I guess means he's doing something right...

I think that's part of it. ...And the fact that he grew that Harley Race beard makes me detest him even more!

Hehe, the beard is funny though.

And I was going through an old tape of mine and stumbled onto Triple H's appearance on the Drew Carey Show. He was pretty good in that episode...

Nice way to sum this up Loss. I remember during the DX days friends of mine whining about how HHH was never given the title or put into the main event picture. I didn't think he was ready then personally so I always went against that. Plus after 2000 I nver really thought of him as much of a big deal. It's just he was tolereable to me up to a certain point and never became tolerable again.

Mad Dog - February 23, 2005 07:24 PM (GMT)
The other thing that really irritates me about him now is he's trying so hard to recreate his match with Taka but he fails to realize he has to sell and make someone else look like a threat to pull that off.

TehDoct0r - February 23, 2005 07:48 PM (GMT)
I really haven't been a big fan of HHH since his quad injury. I mean, it was obvious he was getting a lot of pull before then, but guys like Austin and Rock kept him from running totally roughshed. But once he won the Rumble, I really soured on him and haven't liked him since. That's not saying I haven't liked a thing or two he's done since then, I just haven't been a fan.

D.A.V.E. - February 23, 2005 09:29 PM (GMT)
So, I guess it's time for the constant WWE Defender to jump in here (I liked NWO, sue me)

Personally, I can remember the day I turned into a HHHATER. The night he returned from the quad injury. My brother was in his mark days back then, and loved the guy. I took one look at him, said same old same old, and got on with me life.

That's okay, I defend WWE more than I probably should (smackdown specifically).

I was disappointed with Triple H's comeback night, but that had more to do with Angle getting in his face instead of Jericho that night. It went against all logic.

Scrooge McSuck - February 23, 2005 09:39 PM (GMT)
I'm the ultimate defender of the WWE. I'm a motherfucking mark for KANE.

I'm not. I'll give them credit when they can prove to me that they can do an angle right.

I also like... (cries) Viscera. (runs away from torches and pitchforks)
