Title: Looks Like Batista
Description: Is Off To WrestleMania for Certain

prof_plague - February 22, 2005 04:14 AM (GMT)
It's be teased for a while now, but it's official now! Batista vs. Triple H at WrestleMania XXI! Any chance that he might win the Heavyweight title?

SamoaRowe - February 22, 2005 04:18 AM (GMT)
Whether or not Batista wins the title at Wrestlemania, Triple H will be the champion again in time for Wrestlemania next year.

Scrooge McSuck - February 22, 2005 04:19 AM (GMT)
He's fighting Triple H... it's a lose-lose situation. He'll win the title, but be booked poorly as champion (see Benoit), or he'll be booked like shit and lose the blowoff after resting on the canvas for half a minute from a pedigree (see Booker T).

Mad Dog - February 22, 2005 04:25 AM (GMT)
There's no way Batista comes out of Wrestlemania looking good.

Triple H will either retain the title or do something during the match to horribly expose Batista. And it doesn't matter anyway. Triple H will have the title back by Summerslam and next Wrestlemania have a new opponent and it'll start over again.

Real F'n Show - February 22, 2005 04:34 AM (GMT)
It's Triple H's job to defend the title at WM.

If Batista wins it (which I can see happening) it will be transitioned back to Trips by Mania 22, anyway. The belt means nothing more than "Triple H's Title" anymore.

prof_plague - February 22, 2005 05:53 AM (GMT)
I hope they do the title-brand change after WM like rumoured. But, I can see Batista possibly winning the title, being poorly booked or losing it soon after - more or less ending up to Triple H.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that Triple H can say he is now a 10 time World title holder?

Mad Dog - February 22, 2005 06:18 AM (GMT)
Yes considering twice he's had the title transitioned off of him back to himself. The world title reigns has really bothered me as it's been obvious that the crowd is bored of him as champion yet it always stays on him or goes right back.

The entire month of December was pointless because Triple H just got the title back. Why even bother if you're just going to have him win it back.

But it's useless. He's getting 7 or 8 more reigns to break Flair's record even if it means the WWF going out of business. So we have at least another 5-6 years of the face being built up for Wrestlemania and then being a mid-carder by the time it comes around again.

SamoaRowe - February 22, 2005 01:24 PM (GMT)
Is it wrong that I'm wishing a second quad tear on Triple H right about now?

In all honesty, I would prefer it if the World title and WWE title switched brands. The WWE title is the better title with more history behind it and it gets treated like crap next to the World title. If Raw is really the "flagship show" that WWE will always give preferential treatment to, then it should have the title that has been with the company all along.

Scrooge McSuck - February 22, 2005 01:27 PM (GMT)
Wrong? I do voodoo dances to hope for a jynx on him. Tear something, motherfucker!

Of course, in 2003 when he pulled his groin muscle pretty bad, he STILL wrestled, and even retained the title at Summerslam by doing NOTHING and winning with 1 move. ONE! Of course I hate Goldberg, so I was actually cheering HHH.

That was the only night in the history of my life where I ever wanted Goldberg to win a match :P I remember after that show I had to go outside and shout at the sky for such a bullshit ending to what had been a subpar Summerslam.

2003 was the year where Triple H damaged WWE the most. He looks like he may do it again this year.

It was one of those things where I knew Triple H would win the title back after it was vacated, but I was hoping that the storyline was going to have purpose. Because it seems to stupid to strip a champion of the title just to plan on him winning it back the next time it's up for grabs? There was no real transition. What are they trying to prove? I mean...I this happened to say...Hulk Hogan in the 1980s, that would have actually been kind of cool (back then). But...Triple H? No.

I've been thinking of something in amidst of all this Batista talk. I remember back in the day when he went by the internet nickname "Botchtista" and everyone understood who it was. It really shows how much he has improved and come along in the ring.

I also remember the days when Randy Orton was called "Suckbag" and various other names.

I understand why people stopped calling Batista that, but what about Orton? He was going well and improving. Was.

I still call Orton "suckbag" sometimes. The name suits him (especially when he does that annoying pose).

Scrooge McSuck - February 23, 2005 03:16 AM (GMT)
"Suckbag"? OK, thats still better than me calling Golderg "Goldshit" and "Suckberg".

Is it better than "Goldturd?"

Scrooge McSuck - February 23, 2005 03:29 AM (GMT)
Hell yes. It's also 1000x better than my new name for him... Randy Snortin'.

Hahahaha. That's actually sort of clever in some strange way.

I seriously hope they are running Batista in some lengthy matches on the house show circuit. The only time I can remember him in the ring for more than 5 minutes is in his tag matches with Flair. I like the man, but a Mania main event is going to have to be 15-20 minutes long at the very least. HHH would love to drag a 40 minute borefest out of him to cement his spot even more, I'm sure of it.

This is true. As much as I like the storyline with Batista and would like the idea of HHH no longer champion, it feels like they may be should have picked someone else to win the Royal Rumble, or to at least challenge for the Heavy-Weight title.

Batista had a really good 10-15 minute match with Edge last summer. That's about all I can think of.

Scrooge McSuck - February 24, 2005 03:39 AM (GMT)
Batista/Orton had a pretty good match the week before Survivor Series last year that went 20:00.

prof_plague - February 24, 2005 04:22 AM (GMT)
Do you think it'll be enough to carry on long PPV matches? We all know he's going to have squash matches seeing he's the champion and all, especially while he'd be a new champion.

I think Batista/HHH will be much more effective if it is only 12-15 minutes. Just pack a lot of action into a shorter match rather than do a 25 minute match that would involve a long rest-hold period.

That, and I know this won't happen, but Batista should absolutely kill Triple H at WrestleMania. Just imagine how big of a rub Batista would get out of that.

Scrooge McSuck - February 24, 2005 03:11 PM (GMT)
Starrcade 97 fantasy booking: Batista needs to kill Triple H all match, and win in under 5 minutes.

Real Starrcade 97 booking: Triple H makes Batista his bitch, and loses cheaply with a questionable finish.

How about Triple H tears a quad five minutes into the match? That would be most enjoyable.

Scrooge McSuck - February 24, 2005 03:16 PM (GMT)
He would still win the match. Remember the groin pull in 2003? Or the injuries he had during the Steiner feud? Or anytime he's been injured since 2002...

Yeah... knowing Triple H he would need time off for injury so they would strip the title and the other Raw stars would keep having Dusty finishes to all of their matches so no new champ would be named... until Triple H comes back and reclaims his 11th World title!

Great, you just spoiled the booking plans of RAW for the entire year of 2005.
