Title: OAO WWE TV Thread 2009?
Description: Why don't we have one!?
Jillie - April 7, 2009 06:24 AM (GMT)
Anyway, I was watching Raw because my boyfriend was working and I had nothing better to do, having already watched Impact from Thursday and the HOF Ceremony. In case you missed it, Batista is back. I'm not going to lie - I marked out a little bit.
Anyway, it was a decent show. The whole Santina thing still really pisses me off. The 8 man? tag team match was entertaining. All in all a decent show. Maybe I should keep watching on these lonely Monday nights.
SamoaRowe - April 7, 2009 01:37 PM (GMT)
Raw was loads of fun last night. The stars of Wrestlemania tag match was great, especially seeing Ricky Steamboat get another opportunity to shine.
The lumberjack tag title rematch was also a good time. It's been a while since I can remember a lumberjack match where the lumberjacks actually got as involved as they did, especially with the dives to the floor. Morrison busting out a SSP onto the lumberjacks was sick. I imagine Paul London is sitting angrily on his couch right now cursing Vince for letting the SSP come back in this way after he was forbidden from using it all those years.

A six-man tag for one of the main events at Backlash where the champion is involved and the title isn't on the line?
SamoaRowe - April 8, 2009 02:19 AM (GMT)
The title is on the line, announced late on Raw by Vickie. If Legacy wins, Orton gets the belt. If Triple H, Batista, and Shane win, Triple H retains.
dynamite kido - April 8, 2009 05:03 PM (GMT)
Just wanted to throw in my two cents here.
First off, Steamboat looked awesome. Sure he's in old man shape, but he can still go a bit. I'd mark out if they pulled out a small Flair/Steamboat feud but it's not going to happen.
Also, this was the first Wrestlemania I hadn't seen live in 15 years. I actually felt a bit bad afterwards too.
Klossing - April 9, 2009 01:42 AM (GMT)
I didn't really enjoy RAW all that much. But I must say that the 8 Man Tag was REALLY awesome. It was super fun and is one of those matches you rarely get on a RAW due to the awesome atmosphere. Also the Lumber Jack match was solid as well. But Batista return was lame. I despise that man, he can go some of the time but most of the time gets lazy. But the RAW was okay, better than the last couple of RAW's.

Ahw, well at least Vince is out.

I'll take Vince over Shane anyday.

The "Seasons" song by Veer Union (official song for Backlash or some shit and featured on RAW last night) is currently FREE at Amazon Mp3.
Link:
"Seasons" by the Veer UnionOnce you're there, click the link/box on the right side of the page. Even though it may look like 99 cents, trust me it's FREE.
Not sure how long it'll last, but my guess is until Friday (April 17th).

John Morrison and Evan Bourne had a terrific little television match on ECW this week. If those two are the future of the WWE, things might not be so bad after all.

I completely forgot that I read that match was happening before ECW was on. I really wanted to see it.
I figured they'd match up well.

Man isn't it weird that a generic, short, skinny, indy kid like Matt Sydal can actually get over in the WWE?
Evan Bourne gets some great pops on ECW, and I'm still amazed.
SamoaRowe - April 18, 2009 01:56 PM (GMT)
Imagine how far Paul London could have gone if they'd given him the same push from the start that they've given Bourne.

God that match was fabulous. WWE's MOTY so far. I think it topped Taker/HBK.

So tonight at Backlash, we got...
Edge winning his NINTH World title in under four years. Looks like Triple H has some competition on his quest to be the one to break Ric Flair's record.
Randy Orton scored his third WWE Championship.
Christian is your new ECW Champion.

Damn. All good things in my opinion.
Am I the only one that thought that the Backlash card actually looked better on paper than Mania?
Klossing - April 27, 2009 07:30 PM (GMT)
Backlash was great PPV of the year so far. First show where all 3 major titles changed hands. All the negatives about WM were fixed
dynamite kido - April 28, 2009 05:56 PM (GMT)
So I actually caught RAW last night. Pretty good stuff overall, although I refuse to believe anything Shane does. He fucking sucks.
SamoaRowe - April 28, 2009 06:11 PM (GMT)
Just finished watching Backlash. I would say it just beats out No Way Out for WWE pay-per-view of the year thus far (probably even the WWE pay-per-view of the last two years if I sit down and think about it). The Cena/Edge main event was outstanding, very innovative and intense. The six man tag was very old-school and Legacy finally got to come off as a well-oiled machine the way they need to be portrayed. Jeff/Matt easily beat out their Wrestlemania match, Christian/Swagger was a fine opener, Jericho/Steamboat was quite good, and even Punk/Kane exceeded my expectations. Just an all around great show.
Viceroy Virus - May 4, 2009 05:20 AM (GMT)
Watched SD for the first time in a LOOOONG time this past Friday. A good show. I was very pleased. Basically any show with Punk, Jericho and Edge is going to be gold, no matter what for me.

That was a good show, indeed. I hope they can keep it up without everything getting messed up and having them fall back into being the "B show" that just puts on exhibition matches with only the main eventers having any programs.
dynamite kido - May 11, 2009 06:05 PM (GMT)
I got a chance to watch Superstars last Thursday for the first time. I actually liked it.
Viceroy Virus - June 6, 2009 05:45 PM (GMT)
Smackdown pulled out another good show last night. Ziggler got offense on Khali, so not a completely squash. And Rey got a lot of close calls on Edge and took most of the match, until he ate a spear at the end. Naturally, the world champion pins the IC champion.
SamoaRowe - June 7, 2009 12:58 AM (GMT)
I enjoyed pretty much everything on Smackdown last night, save for the divas tag, but I wasn't really paying attention.
Also, in an unrelated note, caught Big Time Wrestling on MyNetworkTV at midnight. It's papa Cena's fed, and they have a 30 minute show on the local affiliate. There was a six man tag featuring local BTW guys and then it jumped into a Samoa Joe/Abyss cage match. It was pretty enjoyable.

I saw that playing at a bar, the other night. Had no idea what it was, but I recognized Abyss. Think it's only available via satellite TV out here.

WWE's Extreme Rules ppv is still in progress. A couple of big title changes took place earlier tonight, as Batista defeated Randy Orton to claim the WWE Championship, Chris Jericho downed Rey Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship, and Tommy Dreamer beat Christian and Jack Swagger to once again become ECW Champion.
The Swigg Lebowski - June 8, 2009 02:55 PM (GMT)
WHAT????
OK, sweet on Dreamer's part, but the Batista thing is utter Bullshit. Dude's been nothing but fast forward material since he's been back
The Swigg Lebowski - June 8, 2009 02:56 PM (GMT)
Just adding that Hardy won the belt, and then promptly lost it to CM Punk cashing in his MITB contract

After reading this last night I was pretty surprised.
I'm glad Punk is the champion again and I'm actually very interested in seeing what they do with him holding the belt.
There a heel run coming for Punk here?
SamoaRowe - June 8, 2009 07:22 PM (GMT)
After fucking over a beloved babyface like Jeff Hardy, I would assume that Punk is indeed heading towards heelness.
I'm really curious to see what happens on Smackdown this week, I hope they don't drop the ball.
Mad Dog - June 9, 2009 06:50 PM (GMT)
Rumor is that Batista tore his bicep before the show and they gave him the belt anyways. So he might be vacating it.
SamoaRowe - June 9, 2009 07:28 PM (GMT)
411mania is reporting that Batista is going to be out for four months (though more like out for 2 and a half months, returns too early, and gets hurt again). Batista getting injured is becoming as big of a joke as Kennedy.
I'd guess that Orton and Triple H end up wrestling for the vacated WWE title at Night of Champions.
Mad Dog - June 9, 2009 08:38 PM (GMT)
They need to cut their losses with Batista and kick his ass to the curb.
SamoaRowe - June 9, 2009 09:11 PM (GMT)
I would have declared that to be impossible, but with the sudden releases of two guys like Kennedy and Umaga (who weren't main eventers, but both heavily pushed) I'd say it's a possibility. Especially if Batista is pushing the limits of the wellness policy.
I won't miss him either if it happens.
SamoaRowe - June 16, 2009 07:49 PM (GMT)
In case you missed it, Randy Orton won back the WWE Championship in a four way against Big Show, Triple H, and John Cena. Orton is now a 4-time WWE Champion (and five time World champion, thanks to his WHC reign in 2004).
The Swigg Lebowski - June 17, 2009 04:10 PM (GMT)
I loved the Edge-Hardy-Punk match. Especially the ending. My only grief is that Teddy Long coming out afterwards was sort of a buzzkill. Otherwise, that felt like something fairly fresh, and Punk constantly interrupting the pinfalls and then clocking Hardy to steal Hardy's pin was awesome. It reminded me of old school Kurt Angle, or the way Stone Cold could control a match without constantly having to be in the ring.
SamoaRowe - June 18, 2009 03:33 AM (GMT)
That match had me marking out left and right, so well done on WWE's part.
Oh, and I should mention here that in storyline terms, Donald Trump now owns Monday Night Raw and he's starting with a commercial free episode of Raw next week. I would guess they'll still play spots for the Macho Man DVD and probably do a longer Smackdown Rebound than usual, but it could make for an interesting program.
Klossing - June 18, 2009 07:15 AM (GMT)
This past RAW was the first full length RAW I've seen since Matt Hardy returned and attacked Randy Orton. And this RAW was pretty decent. The SD! stuff delivered. Rey/Jericho had yet another show stealing match. The Triple Threat match was awesome and had me expecting Punk to actually lose the title. And the Four Way was even decent because they kept it short and never had a slow time in the match. And I hate 3/4 of the guys in that match.
