NOTES
Happy New Year!!

I moved all the interviews and recaps to one section at the bottom of everything. Just so you know.

If there is anything I’m not covering that you’d like to see, let me know!

Oh, btw, I left out Gerweck this time because, well, I’m lazy. :D

This is what JBL had to say about “The Wrestler:”
QUOTE
A lot of people ask me about The Wrestler. I thought it was awesome and extremely well written. This was the business I broke into many years ago. However, that business has changed - and for the better.

In the last six months, I have had MRIs, concussion tests, HIV test, trauma test, drug test and even my cholesterol tested - which was the only one I failed. This business in WWE is really a corporate environment these days - it has changed for the better. I am glad for my old days, I wouldn’t change a thing. But the WWE has done so much to clean up the abuse that the business as I knew it was so known for.

All that being said, I loved the movie. Even with all the negative stereotypes in the movie, this was a part of what I did to get to WWE and it was fun to watch. A little scary to watch, but fun.
(WV)

TNA
TNA has also released a statement concerning “The Wrestler”:
QUOTE
We're happy to see professional wrestling in the mainstream spotlight through the movie 'The Wrestler.' Mickey Rourke's performance is nothing short of sensational; Mickey Rourke is the movie. His portrayal of an over-the-hill wrestler struggling to find his own meaning in life has already been talked about as Oscar-worthy, and rightfully so.
(WV)

TNA plans to hold Lockdown in Philadelphia in April. (WV)

ROH
ROH’s Final Battle 2008 recorded the largest ROH crowd ever assembled, with 2500 people in attendance. (WV)

Although both parties have been mum on the subject, it is rumoured that HDNet has offered ROH a 30 minute timeslot weekly. (WV)

OTHER
This is a VERY interesting article, issued by Congress after their investigation into steroid use. It focuses on WWE and TNA, with a blurb about Chris Benoit, specifically, at the end. It’s worth the read: http://www.wrestleview.com/news08/1231022173.shtml
And here is the Associated Press release on the issue: http://www.wrestleview.com/news08/1231062096.shtml
(WV)
And the New York Daily News coverage: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/more_spo..._wrestling.html (WV)

Bobby Lashley will be fighting for Palace Fighting Championship on Feb 6 against a yet unnamed opponent. (WV)

I’m putting this in “Other” until someone makes a decision: THIS JUST IN! No one still has any clue what’s going on with Christian Cage. His contract with TNA is officially up, but he has not officially resigned or signed with anyone. (WV)
