Title: The Gaslight Anthem- The '59 Sound

The '59 Sound by NJ band The Gaslight Anthem may be my favorite CD to come out this year. Not 100 percent sure on that, but it's top two or three for sure. Punk, with soul and blues influences. Someone described them to me as "If Bruce Springsteen had started a punk band, and yes, that's a good thing." and he was right. Phenominal band with more than the usual punk sound. Very New Jersey. Just listen, it'll make sense. Check them out here, you'll be glad you did.

It's not horrible. I can't say it sounds altogether fresh and new, but what I'm hearing so far isn't bad by any stretch.

I have the title track on my iPod. It's quite good. Haven't gotten around to the rest of the album, but thanks for the recommendation.

So, after checking out the rest of these guys releases (their 07 debut LP "Sink or Swim" and follow up EP "Senor And The Queen") I will safely say that if there's any justice in the world these guys will blow up huge. They were on Letterman a few weeks ago and were awesome. Plus they're playing near me next month for five bucks.
