The gimmick doesn't seem too prevalent this month..or else I'm just not catching everything.

Anyways, currently watching a PTW episode from 12/7/87. Right around the time I started really getting into the WWF. I actually remember watching this Beefcake/Valentine match. It also features Warrior's MSG debut against Frenchy Martin. The hanging mic is rather low and, as Warrior goes for his finisher, you can hear Martin say something like: "my shoulder's messed up, don't press me". Followed by Warrior, loudly, saying "HUH?!" So Warrior forgoes the gorilla press and pins Martin after one clothesline.

Same episode also has a promo from Sensational Sherri and her nips, where she does a good job of slamming all the other female rasslers.

Great....another week, another fucked update. I hardly have anything available on mine.

Great....another week, another fucked update.  I hardly have anything available on mine.

Check it again, this weekend. Sometimes when I miss updates during the week, they'll magically appear on the weekend. PTW and TNT seem to do that a lot.

Even though I really do like the service, I'm thinking of cancelling it. I might be switching from cable to DirecTV very soon.

Erick Von Erich - November 18, 2008 01:12 AM (GMT)
Y'know, I've thought about cancelling, as well. But 8 bucks ain't bad. On a monthly basis, I enjoy this more than I ever did spending 10-25 bucks a month for HBO, Starz and other crap in the past (yes, even Skinemax).

dynamite kido - November 18, 2008 04:12 AM (GMT)
Well mine WAS 8 bucks. Before Comcast upped the price to about 12 bucks a month and it eventually going up to 18. Plus, there's too many weeks where I'm missing shit. It's been pissing me off for awhile and I'm honestly just getting tired of paying for something half assed.

Erick Von Erich - November 18, 2008 09:33 PM (GMT)
Yowch. Mine's still at 8. If it jumps up to 18, I'll probably drop it as well.

When I started subscribing two years ago, I told myself that I'd follow/record Nitro and RAW until Starcade '97 and Survivor Series '97, respectively. Stuff gets crazy after that for each company and it'll be hard to follow along. Thunder comes along, while RAW becomes all DX and Austin--two things I've never been fond of.

They're up to the end of October '97 right now, so I'm almost done.

New MLG show from 11/16/86 features Honky Tonk Man vs. Mr.X (Danny Davis). Hilarious, because the crowd absolutely hates Honky and cheers the heel Mr. X. It's an incredibly awful match and might hold some kind of unofficial record for "Most heat for shittiest offense". The crowd cheers or boos when each guy simply...punches.

Honky was still, technically, a babyface, but he had already had (and lost) his "vote of confidence" thingie. Even commentators Gorilla and Johnny V mention how badly Honky's being boo'ed. So you know it's part of an angle.

The rest of the card's pretty weak, too.

-Jose-Luis Rivera vs. "Cowboy" Frankie Lane
-Dino Bravo vs. Pedro Morales
-George Steele. vs. Kamala
-Steve Lombardi vs. Paul Roma
-Islanders vs. Hart Foundation
-Chico Santana vs. Butch Reed (best match of the card)
-Roddy Piper vs. Don Muraco

The 7/23/86 episode of TNT was probably one of the best installments of the entire series!

Highlights:
-More Machines stuff, as Bobby Heenan blows his top over the whole gimmick. Heenan: "how many Japanese do you know who have learned to speak English with a French accent?!!" It's hilarious seeing Andre, under a mask, saying: "No. We have never met" to Mean Gene.

-Mean Gene complimenting a skanky audience member on her T-shirt, then saying "I like what's under that shirt, too".

-Recap of the build-up to Orndorf-Hogan on the "Flower Shop".

-Lord Alfred Hayes gives his best performance as "President of the Macho Man Fan Club" (with Esmerelda). I really had no idea that it was ol' Al in disguise.

-Lord Alfred Hayes showing off a vivid "Moose Knuckle" while in said disguise (okay...so maybe that's NOT a highlight).

Nitro from 10/27/97-- Rey Mysterio vs. Dean Malenko: Malenko does a fireman's carry into the famous "Go To Sleep" move, from off of the top turnbuckle!
