Title: How bad (or good) of a cook are you?

Scrooge McSuck - February 8, 2005 05:52 AM (GMT)
I thought this could be interesting.

To show how bad of a cook I am, here's a list of stuff I can make without a problem...
Fried eggs
Scrambled eggs
Hard-boiled eggs
Deviled eggs
anything that fits in a microwave.

Even worse, the only time I've ever made all 3 meals in 1 day for myself, it went like this...

Breakfast: Jimmy Deans Frozen Breakfast Sandwiches
Lunch: TGI Friday's Buffalo Wings
Dinner: Healthy Choice Stuffed Shells and Brocolli

I'm surprised I don't work in a *****-Restaurant. (sarcasm)

Being a vegetarian, I have to have some kind of cooking skills. At the moment, here's a list of things I can cook without a problem:

Almost any kind of eggs.
My special Southwestern omelets
Black Bean Quesadillas
Southwestern Enchiladas
Raisin & Pine Nut enchiladas with Red Chile Mole sauce
Fideos(A dry Mexican Soup)
Chilli
Eggplant Rollatini
Baked Penne Pasta with Eggplant
Any kind of Pizza

Not to mention I can cook anything on the Cracker Barrel menu, since I was a cook there for two years.

You do realize you are not a vegetarian, right?

Actually, I am an ovo-lacto vegetarian. This means that I eat dairy products but not meat. The fact that I eat eggs means that I'm not a vegan. There are also semi-vegetarians who eat fish and/or poultry.

posers.

Vegetarianism... pfft. If wild animals like Lions and Tigers are allowed to eat the meat of other beasts, why not us? Unless it's red meat...

Why are you a vegetarian?

Mad Dog - February 8, 2005 07:27 PM (GMT)
If you throw a cook book in front of me I can usually fix most of the things in there without a hitch. I guess I'm average at it then.

Scrooge McSuck - February 8, 2005 07:31 PM (GMT)
I think that would make you pretty good if you can do it without practicing beforehand. (Unless it's really easy stuff)

Mad Dog - February 8, 2005 07:41 PM (GMT)
I'm just at imitating. If I see something being done or have detailed enough instructions I can usually get it to come out right but I'd be lost otherwise.

It's out of respect for life. I can't single handedly create life, therefore I have given up my right to take it

Lions and Tigers do it because they are carnivores who act on impulse. They're not allowed to eat it, they don't have a choice. We do.

And like Mad Dog, I can cook most anything out of a cook book

Scrooge McSuck - February 8, 2005 08:14 PM (GMT)
Tsk Tsk Tsk... at least you aren't a vegan who refuses to eat anything that even comes from an animal (all dairy products especially).

As long as it doesn't cost the animal it's life, I'm ok with it.

The exception being that I buy free-range chicken eggs. Otherwise they're stuck in a small cage with six other birds and they can't even spread their wings.

Swiggy an animal rights guy? Unbelievable.

I totally respect your views. It just seems a bit "serious" coming from you.

Big F'N Swigg - February 8, 2005 08:57 PM (GMT)
I CAN be serious, it just depends on the subject.

And CB, I'm ALREADY married, and I don't live in Utah. So no,

Scrooge McSuck - February 8, 2005 08:59 PM (GMT)
Ohhhhhh. :(
