Title: ROH Newswires for November
Description: ... and early October.

SamoaRowe - October 29, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
So I'm hoping to keep up and post ROH newswires in one thread each month. The new one for today is interesting in that you can already see the new booking focus on stories and characters coming into play.

QUOTE
- October 29th: ROH officials are happy to announce a working relationship with the IWS promotion (www.syndicatewrestling.com). To that end, on November 7 in Montreal, ROH is happy to welcome the talents of Dan Paysan, Exess, Stupefied, and the Green Phantom! We look forward to seeing these four men in action in Montreal!

- We have another grudge match to announce for Montreal. Sweet-n-Sour's Eddie Edwards will oppose the man who has continually shunned the advances of Larry Sweeney, Erick Stevens! Sweeney has made it a priority to teach Stevens a lesson, and Edwards claims he's up to the task. "People think I have no personality," quipped Edwards. "But what do these idiot fans expect? I get paid for one thing – my wrestling skill. And it's deadly! That's right, I'm deadly. Silent but deadly."

- Speaking of Sweet-n-Sour, Go Shiozaki has been training non-stop with Hall of Famer and former NWA Champion, Harley Race, for his shot at Nigel McGuinness and the ROH World Title in Montreal. Larry Sweeney has intercepted all attempts to speak with Shiozaki, maintaining that "Go has two distinct agendas: Winning titles and taking out our enemies. In both Montreal and Toronto he'll do just that. Talking to any of you ham-and-eggers is not a priority."

- We're happy to announce that Brent Albright returns to action in Dayton on November 21! While his opponent is yet unknown, Albright has made one thing clear: He wants Sweet-n-Sour at any cost. "Bring me anyone managed by that Yellow-haired-Blue-Toothed-Cheap-Suit-Mush-Mouth. It started with Pearce, but I suppose he's off pushing paper somewhere. Everyone knows what I want. I want them all in the cage at Final Battle!" As this went to press, ROH has yet to receive any response to Albright's challenge for Final Battle. More to come.

- Don't miss your last chance at the Big Ten Sale which ends on Friday morning at 9am EST. Included in the sale is over 100 Ring of Honor DVD's priced at $10 each. You can also get general admission tickets to events in Montreal, Toronto, Dayton, Chicago Ridge, St. Louis, and Nashville for $10 each. On top of that, you can save 10% off your next order. Full details are on the main page at www.rohwrestling.com.
October 29th: Rumor has it that Jimmy Jacobs has asked ROH officials to allow Tyler Black as his second for the 11/22 "I Quit" match in Chicago against Austin Aries. Aries could not be reached for comment.

- Bryan Danielson has been in contact, and has had spirited dialogue, with the ROH Booking Committee. We have it on good authority that an announcement of some sort will be made early next week in reference to these talks.

- Look for the new ROH Video Wire to be posted in the next 24 hours at www.rohvideos.com featuring highlights from last Friday night in Danbury, CT.

Mad Dog - October 30, 2008 03:39 AM (GMT)
See, there you go Rowe. There's more of that southern styled booking starting to come into play. Clear faces and heels. I might actually start giving them a chance again if things shape up as Pearce spreads his wings a little more.

October 31st: The final opening in the contract to face the Briscoe Brothers in Montreal has been signed. Teaming with newcomer Kenny Omega will be none other than the brash Kenny King. "I told you fools I'd make my presence felt," said King. "I need to face the best competition possible to make my name in ROH, and everyone knows that the Briscoes are at the top of any list. I don't know Kenny Omega, and I frankly don't care. This match is about me, and me taking my place among the greats in ROH."

- Jerry Lynn has been on a roll since joining the rank of ROH. "I am looking so forward to making my return to Canada," said Lynn. "The fans have treated my great over the years, and I feel like I'm up to the challenge of proving myself in both Montreal and Toronto." Lynn has his work cut out for him in both cities, as he'll face members of both the Age of the Fall (Montreal; Delirious) and Sweet-n-Sour Incorporated (Toronto; Davey Richards). "Competition is what ROH has been built on, and that makes me even hungrier. I can't wait to show that I continue to have the tools that have made me successful my entire career."

- The booking committee is pleased to announce that Irish Airborne will be making their return to the ROH squared circle. Injuries have kept the twin duo from tag team competition for several months, but they're poised to make their impact once again. Dave Crist commented, "We're back to being 100% physically, and we're so excited for the opportunity to show what we're capable of. And there's no better place for us to do it than in Dayton!" When we have their opponents for 11/21 in Dayton we'll report it right here in the Newswire.

- Ring of Honor is celebrating Halloween with a big sale this weekend. You can now save 25-30% off your next order placed at www.rohwrestling.com. All orders under $50 save 25% off, orders $50 and up save 30% off. Check out the main page at www.rohwrestling.com details along with the sale codes you'll need in order to take advantage of this offer.

- The SHIMMER Championship will be on the line in Chicago on 11/22 as two of the best female wrestlers in the entire world will square off for the gold. Larry Sweeney leads the dominant Sara del Rey into battle against the formidable MsChif! Del Rey has been virtually unstoppable as of late, but the level of her recent competition pales in comparison to the current Shimmer and NWA World Women's Champion. Tired of the "Divas"? ROH is proud to present women's wrestling exactly as it should be!

- Bryan Danielson has Nigel McGuinness locked in his sights. If Nigel is still the titleholder, Danielson will face the enigmatic ROH Champion for the title on Pay-Per-View in Chicago on 11/22. A match of this profile is apparently not enough for Danielson as he's been in contact with ROH officials in reference to his involvement on the 11/8 Toronto card. Danielson has informed the booking committee in ROH that he has no intention of resting on his laurels before the upcoming title bout, and to that end, has requested inclusion in what was originally an already exciting encounter. On 11/8 in Toronto, the announced match between Tyler Black and Kenny Omega will now be a 3-Way-Dance! Danielson vs. Black vs. Omega! We'll have comments from the combatants next week in the Newswire.

The Swigg Lebowski - November 1, 2008 07:48 PM (GMT)
Good call setting the Irish Airborne up to return in Dayton. Lots of Irish there.

SamoaRowe - November 1, 2008 10:03 PM (GMT)
I was wondering what happened to them. I figured that Gabe just wasn't a fan of their work and stopped booking them. I see now that it was at least partially injury-related.

- November 3rd: Delirious and Brodie Lee, representing the Age of the Fall, have issued an open challenge for a tag team match during Saturday's Toronto event. As of press today, no one has answered the challenge. We will have an update on this once news becomes available.

- Nigel McGuinness was unimpressed with the news that Bryan Danielson has "forced" himself into a 3-Way match against Kenny Omega and Tyler Black in Toronto. "Anything that club-foot Danielson can do," proclaimed Nigel, "I can most assuredly do better. He wants to 'prove his worth' in 3-Way matches? No problem. In Dayton, one day before I beat Dragon within an inch of his life and prove I'm the best ROH champion of all time, I will put this belt up for grabs, and I'll do it in a 3-Way Dance as well!" We'll have his challengers for Dayton as they become available! Nigel still faces the challenge of leaving Canada this coming weekend as the World Champion.

- Speaking of Bryan Danielson, he apparently hasn't forgotten about what Claudio Castagnoli did to him several months back in New York. Also signed for Dayton on 11/21 is Danielson vs. Castagnoli! Requests for comment from Castagnoli were denied.

- You can now save 25-30% off your next order placed at www.rohwrestling.com. This sale is valid on DVD's, tickets, apparel, & more. Don't miss this opportunity to start your holiday shopping now. Sale ends Thursday morning at 9am EST.

- ROH Officials have been impressed by the past performances of "New Horror" Sami Callahan, and have signed him to appear on 11/21 in Dayton and on 11/22 in Chicago.

- A six-man tag team grudge match has been signed for Chicago on 11/22. The team of Chris Hero, Davey Richards, and Go Shiozaki, representing Sweet-n-Sour Incorporated will oppose Roderick Strong, Erick Stevens, and Brent Albright! The ROH booking committee has indicated that BOTH sides have requested a stipulation on this match. ROH officials are going over the possibilities, and will have that announcement next week here in the newswire!

- Ring of Honor sent out the following press release today:

"Final Battle 2008" weekend will see Ring of Honor host four of the top Japanese talents out there during this historic two day event. Not only will we have current AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Champion, and NOAH's only grand slam champion, Naomichi Marufuji making his return to Ring of Honor, we will also be honored with the presence of current GHC Heavyweight Champion, the only man to hold all three major Japanese titles (GHC, IWGP, Triple Crown), Kensuke Sasaki.

And as if that wasn't enough, 12/26 & 12/27 will also mark the return of Katsuhiko Nakajima. Considered the future of Japanese pro wrestling by many, he stole the show at "Glory by Honor VII" in his GHC Jr. Title match against Bryan Danielson, and looks to do the same in his return to the ROH ring.

Now ROH has one more name to announce in conjunction with Pro Wrestling NOAH. In addition to the previously mentioned names, the closing events of 2008 will mark the return of former ROH World Champion, former GHC Heavyweight Champion, Takeshi Morishima. On the heels of a tremendous run as GHC champion, Morishima is excited to step back into the ring where he made his name in the United States. The former champion has not been inside the ROH ring since "A New Level" back in May where he defeated The Necro Butcher.

Matches featuring these amazing international talents will be announced in upcoming weeks. Tickets for both shows are now on sale at www.rohwrestling.com.

- November 4th: Final Battle 2008 weekend just got even BIGGER. Last week we announced that Naomichi Marufuji, Kensuke Sasaki, & Katsuhiko Nakajima would be wrestling in Philadelphia, PA on 12/26 and New York City on 12/27. Just announced earlier today on the main page at www.rohwrestling.com is the return of former ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima. Matches featuring these amazing international talents will be announced in upcoming weeks. Don't forget you can save 25-30% off all orders until Thursday morning at 9am EST. Details on the sale are posted on the ROH website.

- The reigning ROH World Tag Team Champions, Kevin Steen and El Generico, have been signed to appear in Dayton on 11/21. Should they retain the titles Toronto on 11/8 against the Briscoe Brothers, the belts will be on the line! Arriba!" Steen couldn't comment because he was laughing too hard at Generico's Tito Santana T-Shirt and use of the word 'Arriba'. We'll have their opponents next week right here in the newswire.

- ROH legend Samoa Joe has told ROH officials that he simply does not care who he faces in his match on 11/22 in Chicago. "I hear that Sweeney has been causing a bunch of problems in the company as of late, and of course there's guys like Nigel and Danielson. I hear even Aries would like another crack. It doesn't even matter. All that matters is that on 11/22 in Chi-Town...the champ is...home." ROH officials are looking over the list of potential challengers and word has it that an announcement regarding his opponent will be made soon.

- Roderick Strong has a busy month ahead of him here in Ring of Honor. First, he faces Davey Richards this Friday in Montreal. Then, already signed for Dayton on 11/21, he'll oppose Chris Hero in a "Lights Out" match. Now, as we announced yesterday, he'll team with Brent Albright and long time nemesis, Erick Stevens to battle their common enemy, Sweet-n-Sour Incorporated, on 11/22 in Chicago. "Don't get me wrong, bro, it isn't like I am happy to team with Erick", said Strong. "We've beaten and bloodied each other. We've taken each other to levels that we physically haven't been to before. But just like me, and just like Brent, he's been fighting off Sweeney and his goofs for far too long. And more and more, it seems like my list of enemies is a lot longer than my list of friends. And Stevens isn't a friend. He's a necessary evil. I can't fight them all (Sweeney and company) by myself, and even with Albright we're outgunned. I gotta keep my friends close, and with Stevens, my enemies closer. Even side-by-side."

- ROH Officials are happy to welcome the impressive Silas Young back to ROH on 11/22 in Chicago.

- Davey Richards and Larry Sweeney have no shortage when it comes to arrogance since Davey's return from Japan. "I will destroy anyone that steps in my path", said Richards. "I'll make Roderick Strong wish he'd never crossed me. I will kick Jerry Lynn until he spits up a lung. And in Dayton, I want the biggest and toughest ROH has left to offer. I want the man who originally dared to shun my benefactor Larry Sweeney, and I want to make him suffer. I want you Brent Albright." We'll hopefully have reaction from Albright soon.

- Reaction to Rhett Titus and his video where he claims to have "gotten his swagger back" has been nothing short of incredible. Unbelievably, Titus claims that there are "more where that came from". Dear God help us all.

- November 5th : We anticipated hearing from the Age of the Fall in regard to Samoa Joe's return to ROH, and we can confirm that we've indeed heard from them, and in a big way! Tyler Black has posted a new blog (http://projectonesixone.blogspot.com/), and among the topics he discussed was how he's "tired of these "former ROH legends" coming "home" to ROH from TNA" to "to rekindle that flame within". Black has stated that he believes by "knocking Samoa Joe out" he can earn another shot at the ROH World Title. We'll have a response from Samoa Joe as soon as possible.

- Sweet-n-Sour Incorporated will be well represented when ROH makes its debut in both the St. Louis Area on 12/5 and in Nashville on 12/6. Joining Larry Sweeney in wreaking havoc in both markets will be the man who has made it his mission to destroy all that stand opposed to SnS, Davey Richards. We'll have more talent announcements for St. Louis and Nashville as we move forward.

- Speaking of Davey Richards, his challenge to Brent Albright took only minutes to be answered. Albright has signed the dotted-line and these two beasts will lock horns in Dayton on November 21st!

- The latest ROH Video Wire is up at www.rohvideos.com featuring highlights from the "Ring of Homicide 2" show in Edison, NJ on 10/25.

- Don't miss your last chance to take advantage of the 25-30% off sale at www.rohwrestling.com. This is a great opportunity to save on DVD's, tickets for all upcoming live events, apparel, & much more. Sale ends Thursday morning at 9am EST.

- Ring of Honor's next PPV, "Driven" premieres next Friday night, November 14th on iN Demand, The Dish Network, and TVN cable systems. Look for an article on the main page at www.rohwrestling.com tomorrow for more information on this big event.

- Austin Aries has agreed to allow Tyler Black to serve as Jimmy Jacobs' ring second for their highly anticipated "I Quit" match on 11/22 in Chicago. We're told that the agreement came when ROH officials agreed to allow Aries to have a second of his own for the bout. Aries has apparently made it clear that Jacobs will have to wait until Chicago to find out just who his second will be.

- The fans in Chi-Town should get ready because Ring of Honor is bringing something entirely new to the "Rising Above" PPV taping on 11/22! Show up and find out what it is! This exciting development promises to take the ROH viewing experience to a completely new level!

- Blood boils hot in Chicago as Delirious and Rhett Titus will take their feud to another level. Will Titus once again end up a bloody mess, or will the masked Delirious find out why "the thrust is a must"? And will Daizee Haze have anything more to say on the subject?

- The Buy 3, Get 1 Free Ring of Honor DVD Sale is back at www.rohwrestling.com. The sale will also be in effect at both live shows in Canada this weekend. New DVD releases include both ROH shows from Japan. "The Tokyo Summit" from 9/14/08 features KENTA & Kota Ibushi vs. Naomichi Marufuji & Katsuhiko Nakajima; Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. Bryan Danielson for the GHC Jr. Title; Nigel McGuinness vs. Jimmy Jacobs for the ROH World Title; Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. Davey Richards & Takeshi Morishima; Austin Aries vs. Tyler Black; El Generico vs. Taiji Ishimori; plus more. - Should Nigel McGuinness retain the ROH title in Canada, we now know who one of his two potential challengers is. Austin Aries has signed the contract and will oppose McGuinness and another opponent in Dayton on 11/21, with or without the title on the line!

- Shane Hagadorn has reportedly been seeing a psychologist for what we're told is "extreme depression". Larry Sweeney repeatedly deflected questions about the long time "manservant", saying only that "Hagadorn is in mourning. He's struggling to find his purpose." More on this as it develops.

- ROH Officials have fielded several phone calls from Samoa Joe, who by all accounts sees a lot of "humor" in Tyler Black's recent blog calling out the ROH legend. Take a look at what Black had to say (http://projectonesixone.blogspot.com/) and judge for yourself.

- In another unexpected turn, Kenny King has signed to be a part of the open tag team challenge issued by The AOTF team of Brodie Lee and Delirious. ROH officials are puzzled by King's request to be a part of this match in Toronto.

- November 10th: ROH is happy to extend a huge THANK YOU to the wonderful fans of the Montreal and Toronto areas for two wonderful events over the past weekend. We are happy to announce return dates of April 17th in Montreal, Quebec and April 18th in Markham, Ontario. Tickets for both events are on sale now.

- Speaking of "thank you's", ROH officials want to publicly acknowledge the remarkable efforts displayed by the Necro Butcher in Toronto during the ROH World Title match against Nigel McGuinness. After suffering a knee injury the night before in Montreal, Necro displayed an incredible sense of pride and guts as he lobbied to participate in the match against the advice of medical personnel. We wish Necro a speedy recovery and will update his status as news becomes available.

- Erick Stevens was blind sided and publicly attacked by Sweet-N-Sour Incorporated following Saturday's Markham, Ontario event. New ROH backstage interviewer, Kyle Durden, was in the midst of an interview when cameras captured the violent attack. We hope to have the footage available soon and we are awaiting confirmation of the severity of Stevens' injuries.

- Kenny Omega took the ball and ran with it over this past weekend with impressive showings in both Montreal and suburban Toronto. Kenny King was apparently unimpressed, as he abandoned Omega during their scheduled tag team match against the Briscoes in Montreal. King left ringside with Rhett Titus, and ended up being successful with Titus against the AOTF contingent of Brodie Lee and Delirious. Both King and Omega will be a part of the debut of ROH in St. Louis and Nashville! We'll have their scheduled matches soon right her in the newswire.

- You can now save 25% off all orders placed at www.rohwrestling.com. This offer is good on DVD's, tickets, apparel, & more. Check out the main page of the site for details along with the discount code.

- Jimmy Jacobs was a bloodied and beaten man at the end of the night in Markham. That did not stop him from commanding the attention of ROH film crews, who captured Jacobs' reactions to the brutal Dog Collar match only minutes after the bell rang. We will bring you that footage soon, as well as several other video pieces, at ROHVideos.com.

- Jerry Lynn was 1-for-2 in his contests over the weekend, but in the eyes of the fans, he convincingly batted 1.000. The ovations for the 45-year-old veteran in both Montreal and Markham didn't go unnoticed, especially by ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness, who was said to be "less than happy" with how much adulation Lynn received.

- November 11th: The ROH World Tag Team titles will be defended in Dayton! Fresh off their victory against the Briscoes in Toronto, Kevin Steen and El Generico will once more battle Jimmy Jacobs and the Age of the Fall. Jacobs will go to battle along side Delirious in the hopes that he can win the titles with yet another partner. ROH officials were surprised that Jacobs chose Delirious instead of Jacobs' former championship partner, Tyler Black. We were unable to get a comment from Jacobs in reference to the choice.

- Ring of Honor returns to PPV this Friday night with "Driven" on iN Demand, The Dish Network, and TVN cable systems. The first reviews on this tremendous event are in. To read the reviews and for more information click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2387

- Speaking of the AOTF, fans in St. Louis and Nashville will see them first hand as Jimmy Jacobs, Tyler Black, and Delirious will all be in attendance. Also scheduled to appear is the Necro Butcher, who must be chomping at the bit to get revenge as he was injured in Montreal against the AOTF beast, Brodie Lee. As of now we do not have any update on Necro's condition.

- Fans in Toronto saw the frustration mount and explode from Mark and Jay Briscoe after they lost their hard fought battle with Steen and Generico. The former World Champions unexpectedly lost their composure after the bout, resulting in a shoving match with the victors that had to be broken up by officials. "We are the best tag team in the world, "said Jay Briscoe. "And we flat out lost. Were we pissed? You damn right we were, and we still are. So now what do we do? We man up. And it starts in Dayton." We'll have their opponents as soon as possible right here in the Newswire.

- Super Agent Larry Sweeney isn't happy about bringing Sweet-n-Sour to St. Louis and Nashville. "It makes me sick," quipped Sweeney. "Nobody wants to spend time around toothless hillbillies and I'm only bringing Davey Richards to those two dumps because he wants to hurt somebody." Richards was victorious in both of his matches in Canada, and seemingly wants to continue his charge. "Let's face it," Sweeney continued. "Davey is unstoppable right now and it won't stop in Dayton against Brent Albright, it won't stop in Chicago, and it sure won't stop in St. Louis or Nashville. I could beat anyone in those two towns."

- We are happy to announce that the Four Corner Survival will return to ROH in Dayton on 11/21 and Chicago on 11/22! The first competitors to throw their names in the hat are Sami Callahan and Silas Young. Callahan will be a part of the battles in both towns, while Silas appears in Chicago only. Both men will try to prove themselves in one of Ring of Honor's signature encounters. We'll have more combatants for these matches as we get closer to the events.

- Look for the new ROH video wire to be posted later today or by Wednesday at the latest.

November 13th: We're just one day away from the debut of Ring of Honor "Driven" on PPV. The event will air on iN Demand, The Dish Network, and TVN cable systems. The early reviews have been outstanding including Sean Radican of pwtorch.com giving the main event of Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black vs. Kevin Steen & El Generico 5 STARS. Radican wrote "The main event was simply incredible. This is the best match I've seen in 2008." Richard Gray of wrestlingnewsword.com says "ROH offers so much more bang for your buck than WWE or TNA pay-per-views that buying them should be a no-brainer. The final two matches of the show are two of the best matches that you will see on pay-per-view this year". For more information on the PPV click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2387

- There is a video teaser posted for the "Driven" PPV at http://www.rohvideos.com/watch?v=WkqQbehGSxc.

- The stage is set! December 27th in New York City at the Manhattan Center, the grudge match of the year has been signed for Final Battle! Former ROH World Champion, "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson, will finally get his chance at redemption as he will oppose the man responsible for his permanent loss of eyesight, a man who in his own right is also a former ROH World Champion, Pro Wrestling NOAH's Takeshi Morishima! Both men are focused on taking the other out for good, so much so that both parties have agreed to settle the score in a Fight without Honor! It should be mentioned that if circumstances find Bryan Danielson once more carrying the ROH World Title, then the belt will also be on the line! Tickets are available now at www.rohwrestling.com.

- Nigel McGuinness certainly isn't planning on anyone else carrying the ROH World Title anytime soon other than himself. To that end, we're told the training regiment for both his Dayton championship 3-Way-Dance against Austin Aries and Tyler Black, as well as his highly publicized PPV encounter against Bryan Danielson in Chicago, must be seen to be believed. In fact, it seems that Claudio Castagnoli has been seen sparring and talking strategy with McGuinness. As we all know, Castagnoli is opposing Danielson in a heated grudge match of their own on 11/21 in Dayton!

- ROH officials are happy to welcome back Bushwhacker Luke Williams, as he will be appearing in the St. Louis Area on 12/5 and in Nashville on 12/6.

- If you missed the announcement on the main page at www.rohwrestling.com it's now official. Samoa Joe vs. Tyler Black has been signed for Chicago Ridge, IL next Saturday night. Black has stated that when he wins the ROH World Title the night before in Dayton, he'll defend the belt against Joe in Chicago. You can still get 25% off all tickets for this loaded PPV taping.

- Kenny Omega was both consoled and congratulated by the Briscoes for his effort, albeit on the losing end, in their Montreal tag team match. Kenny King inexplicably abandoned Omega during the contest and watched him ultimately fall to the Briscoes while laughing at him from ringside with his new found cohort, Rhett Titus. As a result, we're happy to announce that two big grudge matches have been signed. In St. Louis, Kenny Omega will face Kenny King one-on-one in the hopes of gaining revenge. Not to be outdone, King accepted the match on the condition that he be granted a match of his choice. That match, signed for Nashville, will be a 6-Man-Tag Team match pitting Kenny Omega and the Briscoe Brothers against Kenny King, Rhett Titus, and King's YRR partner, the returning Sal Rinauro!

- Speaking of Rhett Titus, he's decided to thrust his name into the hat for the Four-Corner-Survival taking place in Dayton on 11/21. Already announced for that match is newcomer Sami Callahan, and the addition of Titus leaves two spots still open. Don't forget that Callahan is also signed for the Four-Corner-Survival scheduled the next night in Chicago.

- You still have less than 24 hours to take advantage of the 25% off sale at www.rohwrestling.com. Everything is on sale including all DVD's, tickets, & apparel. Don't forget the latest DVD releases from Ring of Honor including "The Tokyo Summit" from 9/14/08 features KENTA & Kota Ibushi vs. Naomichi Marufuji & Katsuhiko Nakajima; Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. Bryan Danielson for the GHC Jr. Title; Nigel McGuinness vs. Jimmy Jacobs for the ROH World Title; Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. Davey Richards & Takeshi Morishima; Austin Aries vs. Tyler Black; El Generico vs. Taiji Ishimori; plus more. "Battle of the Best" from 9/13/08 features Nigel McGuinness vs. Bryan Danielson; Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black vs. Jay & Mark Briscoe for the World Tag Team Titles; El Generico, Shingo, & Dragon Kid vs. Naruki Doi, Masato Yoshino & BxB Hulk; Roderick Strong vs. Davey Richards; plus more.

- We regret to inform you that due to a Grade 3 concussion suffered at the hands of Sweet-n-Sour Incorporated in Toronto, Erick Stevens will be unable to appear as scheduled in Dayton and Chicago. We're told that Stevens is resting comfortably and is completely disgusted by what happened. The ugly attack can be witnessed in the latest ROH Video Wire at http://www.rohvideos.com/watch?v=yZ6b74OOCKM. This turn of events leaves the team of Brent Albright and Roderick Strong shorthanded in their scheduled 6-Man-stipulation-to-be-named-PPV-War against Sweeney's team of Go Shiozaki, Chris Hero, and Davey Richards. We're awaiting word from the ROH Booking Committee on whether or not this match will still happen. For more information on the show you can also log on to www.ChicagoProWrestling.com.

- "Dirty" Ernie Osiris has uncomfortably asked ROH Officials to let the fans know that he will accepting donations at all upcoming Ring of Honor events in the hopes that one day he'll be able to afford a "battery-operated beard trimmer" and "semi-decent ring gear". Thank you.

- November 14th: TONIGHT is the night. Ring of Honor "DRIVEN" debuts on PPV. In the United States you can watch this event on iN Demand, The Dish Network, and TVN cable systems. In Canada you can see this event on Bell Express Vu and Viewer's Choice cable systems. The event replays several times this weekend including the traditional 8pm EST time slot on Sunday. For more information on the event click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2387.

- Mark and Jay Briscoe showed a different and somewhat unfortunate side of themselves after their hard fought loss to Kevin Steen and El Generico in Toronto. Their level of aggression post-match was at an all-time high, and their frustration due to the loss went way past what we're accustomed to seeing from the former World Tag Team Champions. "We've earned our spot. We've done it time and again, and now we have that black mark hanging over our heads", said Jay Briscoe. "But we're gonna do what we do, son, and that's simple. We man up. Can Steen and Generico do that? Are they men or mice? Yeah, they got a win. ONE win. That don't prove nothing to nobody. Do it again and then maybe you got something." We'll have comments from Steen and Generico next week in the Newswire.

- Claudio Castagnoli has been rumored to have been training along side ROH World Champion, Nigel McGuinness. He'll put that alleged training to the test as he's thrown himself into the Four-Corner-Survival scheduled for Chicago on 11/22. Besides the challenge of Silas Young, Sami Callahan, and one other unnamed competitor on that night, don't forget that Castagnoli is facing Bryan Danielson in a highly volatile grudge match the night before in Dayton!

- Mums the word in Austin Aries' camp as he prepares for his "I Quit" war against Jimmy Jacobs on 11/22. We know that Tyler Black will second Jacobs to the ring, and that Aries will also have a second, but he has refused every inquiry as to who that second will be. Aries will get an up close and personal look at Black the night before in Dayton during the scheduled 3-Way-Title Match as they both oppose Nigel McGuinness, but will Aries' second also be on hand?

- ROH officials have been unable to reach anyone connected to the Necro Butcher to ascertain the status of the knee injury he suffered at the hands of the AOTF's Brodie Lee in Montreal. Necro has seemingly gone into seclusion, and at this point all we know is that he's scheduled to be a part of ROH's debut events in St. Louis and Nashville. We can't confirm at this time if he'll be able to compete, but we can surely surmise that he has his sights set on revenge.

- The Triple Savings Sale returns for a few days at www.rohwrestling.com. With the first part of the sale you can save 15% off your next order. The second part of the sale features over 60 DVD's reduced to $5 or less. The final part of this sale gives you 30% off tickets to ALL upcoming Ring of Honor live events. Don't forget you can use the 15% off sale along with the $5 Sale and the 30% off ticket sale. If you're looking for ROH tickets, this is your time to buy.

- Without question, the top two female competitors to emerge out of the St. Louis wrestling scene in recent years are SHIMMER Champion MsChif and Daizee Haze. Both women have several years of history with one another, both as training partners, adversaries, and as occasional teammates. There's no better place for MsChif and The Haze to have their first one-on-one match in ROH competition, than in front of the St. Louis area fans who have watched them from the start of their careers. On 12/5 in suburban St. Louis, these two Women of Honor will show their hometown fans what athletic female wrestling is all about in ROH. If MsChif is still SHIMMER Champion come 12/5, the title will be on the line!

- Sources indicate that Larry Sweeney has been reluctantly telling those around him that it's time Bobby Dempsey earned his keep. Could this mean that Dempsey will finally see action inside the ring as opposed to always being forced to hide under it? And when might this happen? More on this as it develops.

- There is a great video on the Roderick Strong & Erick Stevens feud with Sweet N Sour Inc posted here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMwXYss9XU8. If you missed the latest Video Wire you can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZ6b74OOCKM&feature=channel.

- Fans of Nashville, get ready. After spouting some unflattering comments on November 10th, Nigel McGuinness will be forced to physically back them up as he will face Jerry Lynn man-to-man! This match will take place regardless of whether or not McGuinness retains the ROH World Title in Dayton or Chicago. "Nigel is a great wrestler", said the ever-classy Lynn. "He's one of the best of his generation. But that ego of his is going to be his downfall. I'm glad the booking committee made this match for me and my hometown fans, and I promise those fans in Nashville that win, lose, or draw, I'm taking Nigel to the limit."

- We'll have more news on the St. Louis and Nashville cards early next week in the Newswire, as well as an update on whether or not Brent Albright and Roderick Strong plan to find a replacement for the injured Erick Stevens in Chicago. Also, we'll have exclusive "Final Battle Weekend" news and more. Have a great weekend!

- November 17th: Just in case you missed the article on the main page, signed for Philadelphia on December 26 is a first-time-ever dream match! Austin Aries will oppose Naomichi Marufuji! A factor that should be mentioned is that should Aries capture the ROH World Title in Dayton this Friday in the 3-Way-Dance against Nigel McGuinness and Tyler Black, this 12/26 match could potentially be for the ROH Title as well!

- There are less than 24 hours remaining in the big Triple Savings Sale where you can save 45% off all live event tickets. Just combine the already reduced 30% savings with the 15% off discount code listed at www.rohwrestling.com. We also have over 60 DVD's priced $5 or less. The sale DVD's include ROH Best Of's, Straight Shootin' titles, and FIP events from 2004-2006. For the discount code and more details on this sale click here: https://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2151

- So much for an easy return to ROH for Irish Airborne. This Friday in Dayton, they will step into the ring with perhaps the greatest tag team of our generation, Mark and Jay, the Briscoe Brothers. "We ain't looking past Airborne," said Mark Briscoe. "I bet they even happy we signed the contracts, because now they gotta shot to make a name for themselves in their part of the world against the best there is. But remember sons, remember who we are. This Friday, you better man up."

- Larry Sweeney has added Go Shiozaki to the Four Corner Survival this Friday in Dayton. Already announced for the match are "Addicted to Love" Rhett Titus and "New Horror" Sami Callahan. The final competitor will be announced this week in the Newswire.

- Word traveling around the ROH offices is that Brent Albright and Roderick Strong have a new partner in mind to replace the injured Erick Stevens on 11/22 in Chicago. What isn't clear is what the stipulation of this 6-man-war will be. Albright made a challenge to Sweet-n-Sour Incorporated for "Steel Cage Warfare" during Final Battle weekend, and thus far, no one is Sweet-n-Sour has answered that challenge. The ROH booking committee has reached out to Larry Sweeney several times on the subject and have been turned away every single time.

- Speaking of Four Corner Survivals, this Saturday in Chicago the match is set. Opposing Claudio Castagnoli, Silas Young, and Sami Callahan will be none other than Chicago's favorite pre-match competitor, "Sugarfoot" Alex Payne! This will be Sugarfoot's biggest opportunity to shine in ROH. Will he rise to the occasion? For more information on the show you can also log on to www.ChicagoProWrestling.com."

- A huge tag team main event challenge has been issued for 12/5 in St. Louis! Nigel McGuinness has taken yet another chance to dig at Bryan Danielson. "After I beat that clamdigger in Chicago, the perfect icing on that cake of humility would be for me to do it one more time. Of course, I won't be giving him anymore title shots after Chicago, so I should think a tag team match is in the proper order. And with all of the anger that Dragon has built up towards Claudio Castagnoli up to now, I couldn't think of a better partner. Now all Dragon has to do is commit himself to another beating, and choose a partner of his own, that is if he has the stones to do either." We hope to have a response from Danielson as soon as possible.

- November 18th: If you haven't already seen the 11/18 edition of the ROH Video Wire, do yourself a favor and go to ROHVideos.com now! Not only are interviews from Jimmy Jacobs, Austin Aries, Bryan Danielson, and ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness featured, but you'll be able to take a sneak peak at our last two events in Canada, and take a strange and dark walk with Delirious!

- Jimmy Jacobs was very pointed in his interview on the newest Video Wire, stating that Austin Aries has been a pawn in "his" game. An unexpected twist to this game could take place should Austin Aries become a two-time ROH Champion this Friday in Dayton. We have been informed by the ROH booking committee that should Aries defeat Tyler Black and Nigel McGuinness in Dayton, the "I Quit" match scheduled for Chicago will be for the ROH Title! We still have no clue who Aries will choose as his ring second for this brutal contest. Don't be left out, good tickets are still available at www.rohwrestling.com. Save $5 off all tickets plus an additional 20% off your order until Thursday morning at 9am.

- ROH officials have finally spoken to the Necro Butcher. In a correspondence received within the last 36 hours, Necro confirmed he is still convalescing and doing what he can to heal his injured knee as fast as possible. In what was perceived as a bit of posturing, he refused to give any insight into just how bad the knee is or what the specific injury is. He was, however, willing to confirm that he will be in St. Louis on 12/5 and Nashville on 12/6. "Revenge will be mine," said the Butcher. "I told everyone I'd pile the bodies to the sky, but it looks like I could use a little help. Maybe from someone just as crazy as me."

- The phone rang off the hook this morning in the ROH offices with calls from Larry Sweeney. He apparently is sick and tired of being asked whether Sweet-n-Sour Incorporated will answer the challenge laid out by Brent Albright for Steel Cage Warfare in New York during Final Battle Weekend. "I refuse to answer such a ludicrous challenge," said Sweeney. "Why would I put my men, the finest men money can buy, in harms way against Neanderthals like Albright, Stevens, and Rodney Strong? I am not a stupid man."

- Speaking of Sweeney, rumor has it that ROH officials tried to address the vicious attacks recently of Brent Albright and Erick Stevens by Sweet-n-Sour personnel, only to have Sweeney hang up the phone. ROH officials are incensed at the continual interference in matches by Sweeney's men and attacks outside of the ring. More on this as it develops.

- The 20% Off Sale is back at www.rohwrestling.com. Save money on your next order of DVD's, live event tickets, apparel, & more. We also have a special for those fans looking to attend this weekend's events in Dayton, OH and Chicago Ridge, IL where all tickets have been marked down $5 each.

- The most recent SHIMMER tapings saw Serena Deeb rise to main event status in a series of matches against Sara Del Rey. As an added bonus for ROH's debut event in Nashville, we are proud to deliver Women of Honor to compete in a Four Corner Survival matchup! This non-title affair will see Serena mix it up once again with Death Rey, as they also battle a very determined Daizee Haze, as well as "Your Soul's Tormentor," the SHIMMER Champion, MsChif!

Samoa Joe will in a non PPV match against Tyler Black. Other matches include an I-Quit Match with Jimmy Jacobs vs. Austin Aries, a Six Man Tag Team War; Delirious vs. Rhett Titus, plus much more. Tickets will be available to purchase at the door on Saturday night.

- You can still catch the replay of the Ring of Honor "DRIVEN" PPV this weekend on iN Demand. This must see event airs on Friday at 7:00pm EST, Saturday at 10am & 6:00pm, and Sunday at 4:00pm EST. There are also replays airing on The Dish Network and TVN cable systems.

- ROH officials are happy to announce that in suburban St. Louis on 12/5, we will welcome competitors from Harley Race's World League Wrestling! We'll have names and match announcements soon here in the Newswire!

- Word has come from our contacts in Japan that Kensuke Sasaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima have issued open challenges for during Final Battle weekend. Sasaki and Nakajima will team in both Philadelphia and New York, wanting to take on ROH's "toughest fighters". The ROH booking committee has a short list of teams to fill these slots, but is having an admittedly hard time choosing. More on this as it develops.

- The stipulation is set for Saturday's 6-Man-Tag-Team battle in Chicago! After repeated attempts to get Larry Sweeney to address the Steel Cage Challenge laid out by Brent Albright for Final Battle, the leader of Sweet-N-Sour Incorporated has this to say: "I'll tell you what. Since this cage match is soooooo important to those Cro-Magnons, I'll make it very simple. If those two, with whoever they're dumb mystery partner is, can beat my team of Hero, Go, and Davey - they can have their stupid cage match. But rest assured, daddy, there is no way - none, zip, zilch, nada – that they can win this match. They're outmanned, they're outgunned, and they most certainly are out "brained". Mark my words. I never make a bet I won't win, and in Chicago on Saturday night, it'll be no different. Hahahahahahaha!"

- Grizzly Redwood was recently seen sparring with Bushwhacker Luke Williams.

- A dream match has been signed for 12/26 in Philadelphia! "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson will oppose the ageless Jerry Lynn in a match with several intriguing title possibilities! If Dragon becomes a 2-Time ROH Champion this weekend, this match could conceivable end up for the World Title! If Nigel should retain this weekend, but lose to Lynn in Nashville on 12/6, then likewise the title could be on the line. The next several weeks will be interesting to say the least!
November 20th: We have some new DVD listings on ebay at: http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/ringofhonorw...QQ_fromZQQ_mdoZ. This week's auctions includes some rare out of print titles.

- November 24th: ROH officials want to thank the wonderful fans in both Dayton and Chicago Ridge for their awesome participation in both unbelievable events this past weekend! Thank you so very much for your support! Ring of Honor returns to Dayton on Friday, April 24th. We return to Chicago Ridge, IL on Saturday, January 31st for another PPV taping. Tickets are now on sale at www.rohwrestling.com for both events.

- Fans in Chicago Ridge witnessed an instant classic when ROH World Champion, Nigel McGuinness defeated "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson after nearly 30 minutes of back-and-forth combat. Although this bout was without question one for the ages, it wasn't without its share of controversy. Claudio Castagnoli injected himself in the action, attacking Danielson behind Todd Sinclair's back undoubtedly impacting the outcome, even if he wasn't directly involved in the actual end of the contest. ROH camera crews captured words all three men, and we will have that footage available for everyone as soon as possible. One thing we can report is that Bryan Danielson has selected Jerry Lynn as his tag team partner for the main event of the ROH event in St. Louis on 12/5! This choice has several ramifications. Not only has Lynn been the target of some choice comments from McGuinness is the recent past, but as was previously announced, Lynn will try to defeat McGuinness for the ROH Title on 12/6 in Nashville. Not only that, but just recently announced for 12/26 in Philadelphia, Lynn will oppose Danielson himself in a first-time ever dream match. More on this as it develops.

- The challenge of Kensuke Sasaki has been heard loud and clear throughout the ROH locker room and many talents have expressed their wish to face Sasaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima on 12/27 in New York City. To narrow the field, the ROH Booking Committee has just signed a special tag team gauntlet for 12/5 in St. Louis! Four teams will battle it out, with the pair that runs the gauntlet will earn the right to face Sasaki and Nakajima at Final Battle. The first team entered into this gauntlet is the team of Erick Stevens and Brent Albright! We'll be announcing more teams we get closer to the event.

- The Big Ten Sale is ongoing at www.rohwrestling.com. Right now we have over 110 DVD's priced at $10 each. You can also purchase general admission tickets for upcoming events in Collinsville, IL (St. Louis), Nashville, and Philadelphia for only $10 each. The final part of the sale allows you to take an additional 10% off your next order. This sale is valid until Thursday morning.

- Sweet-n-Sour Incorporated was able to prevent being thrust into Steel Cage Warfare on December 27 in New York City when Chris Hero's chair shot rendered Roderick Strong out of commission and allowed Davey Richards to score the pinfall in the wild 6-man-tag war. The return of "Crazy" Ace Steel to ROH brought raucous cheers from his Chicago faithful, but not even that could thwart Sweeney and his cohorts. In addition, interference and outside attacks from Sweet-n-Sour in Dayton left the Lights Out Match between Strong and Hero without a clear winner. ROH officials are reviewing video of both events and we've been told we'll have an announcement in the next 24 hours that will greatly impact the 12/6 event in Nashville.

- In another epic battle from the weekend, Austin Aries was able to outlast Jimmy Jacobs and force the AOTF magnate to utter the phrase "I Quit" in Chicago. Corner man Tyler Black did not throw in the towel for Jacobs, and even when it seemed he would, Lacey took that opportunity away by snatching the towel from Black's grasp. Black was berated by Jacobs following the match, and walked off alone. We've received word that because of this, as well as the outcome of the 3-Way-Dance in Dayton, Tyler Black has challenged Austin Aries to a singles match on 12/5 in suburban St. Louis. We will have news on this as it becomes available.

- THE BLACK FRIDAY SALE IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- November 25th: One could reasonably argue that Claudio Castagnoli cost Bryan Danielson the ROH World Title last Saturday in Chicago with an attack on Danielson's already injured leg, also suffered at the hands of Castagnoli in Dayton. Rumor has it that Castagnoli immediately began lobbying the ROH Booking Committee for another shot at Danielson after his loss in Dayton, and that 12/6 in Nashville is his target date for the rematch. We have it on good authority that both competitors will address this in this week's Video Wire which will be available for viewing on Wednesday.

- Larry Sweeney sent Bobby Dempsey into action this past weekend in Dayton, and he was ever-impressive in victory. The huge ovation for Dempsey by the Dayton fans did not seem to sit well with Sweeney, who lambasted Dempsey at every turn, even with the win. We've confirmed that Dempsey is scheduled be in action on both 12/5 and 12/6. We'll have match announcements soon here in the Newswire.

- Irish Airborne came up short in their ROH return in Dayton, falling to the hyper-aggressive Briscoe Brothers. The Airborne will return to ROH action in Nashville on 12/6 as they will face the interesting duo of Grizzly Redwood and Bushwhacker Luke Williams! Redwood and Luke have been seen training and sparring as of late, and they appear ready to see if they have what it takes to make a dent in ROH's tag team division.

- The Necro Butcher said he'd find someone as "crazy" as him to battle the Age of the Fall in St. Louis. We now know who his partner will be. Fresh off his return to ROH in Chicago along side Brent Albright and Roderick Strong, "Crazy" Ace Steel has stepped up and told the Butcher that he will stand along side him! It will be Ace and the Butcher teaming on 12/5 to face Jimmy Jacobs and Delirious. Daizee Haze will also be on hand in St. Louis, facing Shimmer Champion and AOTF member, MsChif. ROH officials have been informed that the Haze has sent Necro some correspondence as recently as last Sunday. We don't know at this point what that correspondence entailed. Tickets are on sale for $10 to this event until Thursday morning.

- We also know that Necro has demanded a match against the AOTF on 12/6 in Nashville as well. It isn't clear if he's requested a singles or tag team match, but we do know that Ace Steel is not scheduled to be in Nashville. More on this as it develops.

- Word came down late last night from the ROH Offices that a Grudge Tag Team match will take place on 12/6 in Nashville. Brent Albright and the returning Erick Stevens will face a duo from Sweet-n-Sour Incorporated. In light of recent events, ROH Officials have mandated that all managers and ring seconds will be BARRED from ringside to help mitigate any potential outside interference in this encounter. As you might imagine, this ruling has outraged Larry Sweeney, as he was threatened with what ROH officials deemed as "stiff repercussions" if this mandate is ignored. Tickets are on sale for $10 to this event until Thursday morning.

- We are happy to announce the next two teams vying for the opportunity to face Kensuke Sasaki and Katsuhiro Nakajima at Final Battle on 12/27 in New York! Joining Brent Albright and Erick Stevens on 12/5 in suburban St. Louis will be the recently resurfaced Irish Airborne and The Briscoe Brothers! These two teams just faced off in Dayton with the Briscoes easily dominating the contest. Will the story be different with two other for Mark and Jay to worry about? We are awaiting the 4th and final team, and anticipate those names early next week.

- Rhett Titus called the ROH Booking Committee late on Thanksgiving laughing hysterically. Titus could barely get out the words, "Brother, are you serious? Grizzly Redwood and Bushwhacker Luke?! Hahahhahaahahhahahah!!!!" The phone call then went dead.

- We've received word from Daizee Haze that she's got some important business to take care of in both St. Louis and Nashville. She's scheduled to face SHIMMER Champion, MsChif, in St. Louis, and the Haze is taking part in a Four-Corner-Survival in Nashville. Daizee insists that as important as these matches are to her career, she's got "far more important things at stake" and she plans on "starting down the right path" on 12/5 and 12/6.

A grudge match between Bryan Danielson vs. Claudio Castagnoli has been signed for the Nashville event next Saturday night and the stipulation for their match is announced in the Video Wire.

- Kenny Omega is happy to be appearing in both Philadelphia and New York for Final Battle weekend. "It's a great honor to perform in front of some of the best wrestling fans anywhere, and to be a part of Ring of Honor and to wrestle at Final Battle is a dream come true for me." We'll have match assignments soon right here in the newswire.

- Since we last reported that Ernie Osiris was accepting donations for "a battery-operated beard trimmer" and "semi-decent ring gear", he hasn't been heard from. Sources indicate that he may have been last seen sleeping in a subway car somewhere around Shea Stadium. If anyone has seen Ernie Osiris or knows of his whereabouts, please contact the ROH offices.

- We'll have another big match to announce on Monday for the 12/26 Philly show.
