Title: You Know You've Been Playing Too Long When...
Description: List here!

Scrooge McSuck - February 7, 2005 05:25 AM (GMT)
I've been playing GTA: Vice City again (since I beat San Andreas and wanted to redo with this one), and have been playing for most of the afternoon. Now that I stopped, I keep hearing the clicking noises when doing stuff on the select screen.

Mad Dog - February 7, 2005 05:38 AM (GMT)
I know I've been playing too much when I have dreams about the game.

Scrooge McSuck - February 7, 2005 05:55 AM (GMT)
Did you rescue the Princess, or Bowser/King Koopa kick your ass for once? :D

Mad Dog - February 7, 2005 06:03 AM (GMT)
Actually it's more that I dream about sitting there playing the game.

Scrooge McSuck - February 7, 2005 06:13 AM (GMT)
Damn... now that is playing too long.

I'll also admit to getting nauseous when playing ultra violent games too long, which is why I sold all my Twisted Metal games.

Mad Dog - February 7, 2005 06:16 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm bad about playing 9 or 10 hours on a Saturday or Sunday without football.

Scrooge McSuck - February 7, 2005 06:27 AM (GMT)
Shit, I forgot about Arena Footbal.. :(

SamoaRowe - February 17, 2005 03:10 PM (GMT)
I dreamed that I was playing X-Men Legends all night.

And I dreamed that Sideways won the Oscar for Best Picture.

Mad Dog - February 17, 2005 03:26 PM (GMT)
Nothing beats my friend. He'll sit and play battle.net with Warcraft III for 8-10 hours at a time and never get up.

Wow.... that's impressive. I don't think I've ever played a game for that long at one time. When I was younger (before high school) i would get majorly carried away with some N64 titles and lose track of time. Five or six hours would go by and I wouldn't know it.

Mad Dog - February 17, 2005 03:40 PM (GMT)
I've done about 8 hours on Everquest. But those were few and far between days. I usually take a few hours break after about 3 hours of gaming as a general rule.

Hehehe, eating is always good. I wish I still had the free time to make an entire day out of gaming, as I have a few titles that would be good for it.

Sorry...would love to say 8 hours is long. But I even have that one beat; although not I personally. My roommate and one of our friends from another dorm spent, at minimum, at least 10 hours playing Phantasy Star in a single day straight. What's makes it even more funny, is that his girlfriend just sat there, fell asleep for a bit, and hardly said a thing as they just sat there playing, and she too just sitting there. ...And doesn't even like the game.

S.T. Strickler - February 18, 2005 02:34 PM (GMT)
Last month, I played Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past on my SNES for about 7 hours straight. Of course, some of that time excludes bathroom breaks, food, etc.

I used to MUD a lot (for the unitiated, MUDs are online text-only versions of AD&D although I never played AD&D and never roleplayed--I just liked inetracting with people online and killing things/levelling/piling up hitpoints). I knew I had been mudding too long when, if I was playing a video game and got an extra life/1-UP, I would instinctively yell out "I Levelled!" Also, if I started seeing ZMUD (the client I used to MUD with) scorlling upscreen in my dreams, I knew I'd been MUDDIng too much.

Big F'N Swigg - December 8, 2007 08:49 PM (GMT)
My roommate in college would do online role-playing for hours on end in AOL chatrooms. I never kept track of how long, though

Darryl The Hitman - December 8, 2007 08:53 PM (GMT)
Yeah, there I was the outcast because people could understand why I liked the game when roleplaying bored me to tears. I could only get the wrestling fans there to understand. "Ok, I'm a warrior. I have big muscles, I like to use foreign objects/weapons to hurt people, and I usually act before I think. It's the closest I'll ever get to being a wrestler." Then they'd get it. heck the first character I ever made was Hellwig The Ultimate Warrior. The Immortals (MUd Admins) were supposed to ban any names that weren't medieval but none of them knew that Hellwig was actually a real nam.e :)

Big F'N Swigg - December 8, 2007 08:54 PM (GMT)
My old roommate's e-mail changes so much because of his role playing that I just message him on myspace because it's too hard to keep up with.

I gave it a shot once, but I was miserable at it

Darryl The Hitman - December 8, 2007 09:03 PM (GMT)
yeah, it's a lot of commands to remmber all at once and you always have to eb thinking about things and be prepared for things that migth happen.

When I start thinking my players in FIFA 08 are half assing it on perpose, it's generally time to turn the game off. Or when I slip into my bad British accent (not that I have any other British accent) and add in my own commentary.

Darryl The Hitman - December 10, 2007 06:04 AM (GMT)
I have another one:

I work in a grocery store as the guy who packs bags, collects buggies, does bottle returns, wraps flowers, does price checks, etc...

Anyway, the music on the satellie is often horrible (unless I manage to get to the office to put on classic rock) but I'm obliged to listen or I won't hear when I'm called to help someone.

The other day, my mind was wandering and I suddenly had this song in my head. I couldn't recall where it was from and it drove me nuts.

Finally, 3 orders later, it hit me: it was the music from when you fight Wart in SMB 2. I instinctively said AHA! and was blushing as everyone looked at me and I couldn't explain why I was AHAing!

...

yeah, so I'm a nerd...
