Title: Johnny Swinger released
Description: from pwinsider.com

Johnny Swinger finally received his release from TNA earlier this week and is done with the promotion. He had requested it in the beginning of 2005 as the promotion wasn't regularly using him. He had most recently been working as one half of the NYC tag team with Glen Gilberti, which under new TNA booker Dusty Rhodes, wasn't going to be getting any kind of push as Rhodes isn't high on Gilberti.

Not to sound mean, but I'm really not too upset over his release. Not to sound mean again, but unless Gilberti becomes Disco Inferno again, he can go with Swinger.

Like I said, I'm not trying to be mean, but I don't care for them at all.

Swinger was never very useful without teaming with Simon Diamond. Though I did enjoy his jobber work in WCW from time to time.

The most memorable Swinger moment is Chris Jericho introducing the participants of the CW Battle Royale on a WCW PPV, and had no idea who Swinger was. "Whoever he is, zero chance of winning!"

OMG! TNAISGOINOUTOFBUSINESS..........

Who exactly are you mocking? TNA fanboys or TNA haters? I'm thinking the latter, but usually it's the fanboys who have very little skills with typing the english language.

dynamite kido - February 7, 2005 08:35 PM (GMT)
It was more of mocking the fact that this is even news. I'm not blaming Swiggy for starting the thread, but I find it funny that he would even ask for a release. Thankfully for him, that Zero One Max is well known to bring in overrated highly paid foreigners for their shows though.

Big F'N Swigg - February 7, 2005 11:38 PM (GMT)
I think it's funny that he's lasted this long. Both him and Simon Diamond aren't that spectacular by themselves. And I can't stand Gilbertti, so thankfully Dusty agrees with me on that one.

File him under "I've had potential, but it's been squandered."

Not to plug my own diary or anything - but I'd prefer Gilbertti as Disco Inferno anyday

SamoaRowe - February 8, 2005 04:23 PM (GMT)
The only times I've really enjoyed Swinger was when he was teaming with Simon Diamond, and I never really cared for the team with Gilberti.

I prefer Gilberti as himself over Disco Inferno, I only use him as Disco in my diary because I'm too lazy to worry about whether or not I'm spelling "Gilberti" correctly.

Scrooge McSuck - February 8, 2005 07:17 PM (GMT)
At least has Disco Inferno he had a personality. I can't remember a single fucking thing he's done as "Glen Gilberti" besides somehow stay employed by TNA.

One thing - him and another guy TNA completely missed the boat with - Mike Sanders. They were pretty funny together

Sanders has just shot up on my list by the way, to bring into my goddamn EWR Diary. Go read it - I read yours

The only things Gilberti has done as himself that I remember are challenge Jarrett for the NWA title in 2003 and feud with the Insane Clown Posse.

My reasoning for remembering the title shot was mostly being amused that he was even in contention for it.

Scrooge McSuck - February 8, 2005 11:22 PM (GMT)
I remembered that, but felt it was too horrible to be worth mentioning.

It wasn't TNA's finest moment, but AJ Styles won the belt two weeks later (or something like that) so it was salvaged

However, Vince Russo completely over-shadowed him (your manager shouldn't be taller than you and have more heat!).

Yeah... that's true.

But then again "NWA World Heavyweight Champion: AJ Styles" sounded really cool too.
