Title: TNA's Victory Road
Jillie - July 13, 2008 07:23 PM (GMT)
Tonight is Victory Road! Woo! Here are my predictions for the show.
TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match
Samoa Joe © vs. Booker T.
Samoa Joe is totally winning. If he doesn’t I’m going to be very angry. I don’t like Booker T and I disagree strongly with having Joe as a “transition champion.” This match is going to be decided by some interference of Kevin Nash’s; most likely he will come down to help Joe win and in the aftermath of the match the Nash-Joe feud they’ve been teasing will come to full fruition.
TNA World Tag Team Championship - Fans Revenge Match
LAX (c's) vs. Robert Roode & James Storm.
I can’t see Beer Money Inc taking the titles back. The pairing just seems too random for me. I suppose stranger things have happened, though. I expect to see much interference from the respective ring-side ladies – Salinas and Jacqueline – and of course by a man named Alvaro Riojas, the Fan’s Revenge contest winner. In the end, I expect LAX to retain the titles.
Fans Pick The Stipulation - Six Man Tag Team Match
Kurt Angle & Team 3D vs. Christian Cage, AJ Styles & Rhino.
This match is going to be one giant cluster-fuck. Karen Angle is undoubtedly going to get involved and I expect she will cost Team Cage the match by accidently whacking Styles upside the head or something like that. It would be really cool if she pissed off Cage and he went ape-shit only to have Styles protect his precious Mrs Robinson…I mean Angle, but I doubt that will materialize. Regardless of who wins, however, Cage, Styles and Rhino are in line for another one-sided, gratuitously violent beat down either to interrupt their celebration or as a continuation of their defeat. By the way, the choices of stipulations are Full Metal Mayhem, Tables Match or Falls Count Anywhere, and, according to tnawrestling.com, you can log on at the start of the PPV (8pm EST) and vote for which match you want. I’m personally hoping for a Falls Count Anywhere Match for maximum cluster-fuckey goodness.
"Black Machismo" Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt.
I have a feeling this is going to be the match that is going to finally end this SoCal Val and Lethal relationship. SoCal Val is going to cost Jay Lethal this match, no question about it. SoCal is going to screw up and instead of hitting Dutt upside the head, she’s going to nail Lethal, hence making Lethal think SoCal Val doesn’t like him anymore. What I REALLY hope happens, however, is that SoCal Val turns heel and actually costs Lethal the match on purpose, forming a Dutt-Val partnership. Either way, I hope the Lethal-Dutt feud continues because these two can have some pretty fabulous matches together. I enjoy Dutt’s new character and his new heelishness and his new disagreement with Lethal. Yes, it’s uber-cheezy (with a “z” even!), but it’s also uber-entertaining, and most importantly, it will produce some killer matches.
Finals of the World X Cup Tournament
This will feature the return of the Ultimate X Match.
Who knows!? I’m just excited for the return of the original Ultimate X Match! This is the original TNA innovation and the match that helped propel TNA into the continental limelight. It doesn’t really matter who wins the X Cup (although we all know Team TNA is going to win), what is important is that TNA is showing that they are not afraid to cooperate with and work with wrestlers from other promotions, something that you will almost never see in the WWE. While the WWE spends all it’s time convincing you that they are the best and every other promotion is inferior, TNA brings in wrestlers from other promotions around the world and bill them on the same calibre as their own talent. This match should be exciting and interesting and I am very much looking forward to my favourite stipulation of them all returning to the ring.
TNA Knockouts Women's Championship
Taylor Wilde © vs. Awesome Kong.
I really don’t know what is going to go down here. If I were writing the script, I’d have another Knockout come down and cost Wilde the title and the match, thus starting a feud (maybe turning the thus-far supportive Roxxi Laveaux back heel and having her feud with the new Canadian). This puts the title back on Kong and leaves the door open for another, more deserving, Knockout to feud with the champion and ultimately win (ODB!!). Although I think the way they had Wilde debut for the company was perfect, I don’t think she should have the title for too long but should instead, as I mentioned, get involved in another non-title feud that will help establish her as a legitimate talent in TNA.
Gail Kim vs. Angelina Love.
Once again, if I were writing this script, I would have this match be the biggest female brawl in the history of TNA. It would start with Velvet Sky coming down to help out her tag partner, followed by ODB to make the save. From there, the female population of the TNA locker room would empty out to the Impact Zone and a brawl would ensue. But I’m not writing for TNA, so expect to see Gail Kim either get screwed out of a win, or win and then be the victim of a beat down. It really could go either way. Regardless, this will be a great match and will be a great showcase of TNA’s female talent.
There you have it! I intend on reviewing this show for sure. I’ll have to download it on Monday and I’ll probably work on reviewing on Tuesday. I am pretty excited for this PPV. YAY!

That is an abysmal looking PPV card. I'd sooner by a Panic At The Disco CD.

I'd rather eat a plate of steaming shit than watch this for 3 hours.

It's actually really sad for me to see the state of TNA right now. I used to be such a diehard TNA supported I'd overlook all of their shit that they pulled (Jarrett's constant putting himself over, Russo's overbooked clusterfucks, Goldilocks...) because the stuff guys like Styles, Low-Ki, Lynn and Red were doing was still getting at least some of the spotlight... But this is just... awful. Even with someone like Joe as champion, I can't imagine any of this being any good.

Wow, the results for this show look like garbage:
In the opening 12 Man World X Cup Elimination Match, it was Alex Shelley of The Motor City Machineguns winning it, beating Yoshino of Team Japan to put Team TNA in the lead going into the final Ultimate X Match later in the broadcast.
- A series of videos aired featuring Booker T at home in Houston, Texas, showing off his regal estate.
- In a Knockouts match, Gail Kim defeated Angelina Love, despite interference by Velvet Sky. After the bout, Velvet and Angelina double-teamed Gail and tried to paper-bag her, but Gail escaped the ring.
- Backstage, BG James and Lauren were with the fans that would participate in the Fans Revenge Match later on
- In a Grudge Match, "The Guru" Sonjay Dutt got the win over "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal after a quick roll-up. Dutt kept telling Val he loved her during the bout, and at one point Val asked Lethal to stop punishing Dutt. However, that gave Dutt the opening to beat Lethal.
- In the Fan's Revenge match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship, The Latin American Xchange defeated Beer Money. In the end, Robert Roode got dumped to the outside, where the fans lashed at him with the leather straps. Back inside, LAX double-teamed Roode with Homicide getting the pin to retain the gold.
- TNA newcomer Taylor Wilde surprised Awesome Kong by defeating her AGAIN to retain the TNA Knockout Women's Championship after Taylor used Kong's own weight to get the roll-up pin. After the bout, Raisha Saeed attacked Taylor and threw her back in the ring for Kong, who annihilated the Women's Champion with a piledriver. When Kong attempted a second pildriver on a steel chair, Abyss hit the ring to save Taylor! Abyss ended up nailing the Black Hole Slam on Saeed and then carried off Taylor.
- In the Ultimate X Match, Volodor Jr won the bout to give Team Mexico the win and the World X Cup. Kaz pulled off one of the most amazing moves in TNA history when he hit a legdro from the top of the structure on Daivari. However, by doing that Kaz cost himself the bout, allowing Volodor to pull down the red X! After the bout, Mike Tenay and TNA spanish broadcast Willie Urbina interviewed Team Mexico while a visibly upset Kaz watched on.
- In the Full Metal Mayhem match (as voted for by the fans on our website), the team of Kurt Angle and Team 3D beat AJ Styles, Christian Cage and Rhino after interference by Frank Trigg. AJ Styles had climbed a ladder to come down on Kurt Angle (who was across a table), but Trigg nailed AJ with a kendo stick. Angle hit Styles with an Olympic Slam through the table to get the win.
- In the back, Jeremy Borash interviewed Samoa Joe about the World Title match. Kevin Nash came in to wish Joe luck. Joe asked Nash to stay in the back for the title match.
- In the main event, it was an all-out brawl as Samoa Joe and Booker T went to hell and back. Joe and Booker both got busted open during the bout and were bleeding. Watching on, Booker T's wife Sharmell couldn't stand it anymore and begged for Joe to stop, then slapped him! In response, Joe smashed Sharmell's personal security. In addition, all of the TNA referees (minus Earl Hebner who was injured earlier) got annihilated by Joe, as the match got out of control. Security came in and couldn't stop Joe. Sharmell eventually got in the ring and screamed for someone to help as Joe choked the life out of Booker.
Just then, the lights went out and Sting's music hit! Sting tried to talk sense into Joe, but Joe gave Sting the finger! As a result, Sting smashed Joe with the baseball bat and stood there as Booker T covered Joe and Sharmell made the three count! Sharmell took the World Title from ringside and put it over Booker's shoulder as they left the arena! Joe was out cold in the ring as Sting left as well!
Is Booker T the new TNA World Champion? What will happen between Sting and Samoa Joe? Tune in Thursday on "iMPACT!" to find out!
Those are direct from TNA, by the way

Everything.
And those results look even worse than I imagined they would. Awful.

Outside of the goofiness in the main event, I don't see much to complain about. It's weird that Kong is losing again so soon, but whatever.
Jillie - July 16, 2008 02:30 AM (GMT)
Bah. I hate that Wilde is still the champ. As I mentioned, she should have lost and started a new feud. Anyway, I'm just putting the finishing touches on my review. I like the PPV very much. The opener was spectacular, the Ultimate X Match was great, the women's matches were great, Lethal/Dutt was great, the main event and Full Metal Mayhem matches were alright.
Read all about it in a few! Or whenever EVE posts it, I guess.

I read several reviews, including yours of course ;)
Most of the reviews made it clear that the Ultimate X match was the only match worth watching.
After seeing iMPACT this week, I'm afraid TNA hasn't caught on to booking yet.
I need a T-shirt that says
FIRE VINCE RUSSO
AND
DIXIE CARTER!
