Title: Woo Hoo! Canada Day!
Description: Yay!

Jillie - June 30, 2008 06:44 PM (GMT)
It's Canada Day tomorrow! Woo! Do any of you other Canadians have to suffer through working on Monday only to have Tuesday off? I think it should have been law to have a four day weekend. Not only that, but it's month end for me at the paper and I have GADS of work to do before I get to drink my face off tonight. Then it's off to the dragon boat races tomorrow afternoon (in which I'm competing), and fireworks tomorrow night. Not sure what I'm doing during the day on Tuesday. Probably sleeping off my hangover from Monday night.

Anyway...

Yay!

Did anyone else notice the Eraserhead poster in that video?

And Rush is discussed in of one of my favorite scenes from Freaks and Geeks:

Harold Weir: By the way, that drummer you're listening to...
Nick Andopolis: Yeah?
Harold Weir: He's terrible!
Nick Andopolis: What? That's Neal Peart, he's the greatest drummer alive!
Harold Weir: Neal Peart couldn't drum his way out of a paper bag!

Less we forget, everybody's favorite Canadian crossover whore:

Or this human (Canadian) turd with legs:

Who once pulled himself out of the lineup for a week because he had a toothache. Or who consistently pulled himself out of close ballgames in the 7th, then replied to the media: "I got my hits, eh" after his team lost 7-10. Or who pulled himself out of the lineup so he could get LASIK surgery. Who also couldn't score from third on a flyball from Albert Pujols in the 2004 World Series. Who told people to "kiss (his) ass" after he found a dead body on his property.

What about THESE guys!?

BTW, many (female) Canadians feel that Pamela Anderson is an embarrassment to Canada, much like many Canadians (named Jillie) feel the same about Nickelback. It's fact. Honest.

Ulp..sorry 'bout the omission. Also left out BTO, Triumph, Guy Lombardo, The Guess Who, Michael J. Fox, You Can't Do That on Television and that make-up whore Avril Lavigne (although she does look somewhat bang-able in fishnets).

Not to mention Loverboy, Chilliwack, April Wine, The Band, Bedouin Soundclash, the Boomtag Boys (I was as surprised as you), Snow (yup, the Informer is Canadian), 54-40, Harlequin, Helix, Honeymoon Suite, Junkhouse, Len (Steal My Sunshine!!), Men Without Hats, The Moffats (*shudder*), Prism, Prozzak (*shudder again*), Sam Roberts, SoulDecision (what's with the Gay CAnadian Boy Bands?), Sum41, The Trews, Treble Charger, Bryan Adams, Paul Anka, Corey Hart (Sunglasses at Night, anyone?), Sass Jordan, Kim Mitchell and Kim Stockwood...

The Tea Party and Tegan and Sara are both good in my book. Go Canada!

I actually went to Quebec yesterday for the afternoon. I'd forgotten how beautiful it is up there.

I have no idea. I don't care where else he's playing, in fact. All I care about is I'm FINALLY going to see the guy in concert after MANY missed opportunities and I actually got a Saturday off in the dead of Wedding Season to do so.

:D

Yeah, that's what I said, too. Crazy but true!!

There are a lot of other bands I could have added that are part Canadian or have a Canadian or two in the line up but are otherwise American or British. Canadian musicians are EVERYWHERE in the music biz.
