Title: Learning more about wrestlers of old
The Ding Dong - June 26, 2008 06:25 PM (GMT)
You know, if you just do a wiki search for a wrestler, say Kamala, you wind up spending the entire night until 4am clicking on other wrestlers wiki links within the Kamala page and wind up learning things you didn't know to that point. Some things had me "holy cow"-ing for not knowing it all this time.

BY GAWD, KING! You wiki'd Kamala?! I thought I was the only Kamala mark on the Internets. Awesome.
But be careful. It IS Wikipedia. There is some bogus information up there. Like the recent identity screw-up of the AWA's Rocky Mountain Thunder (who, it turns out, was not Greg Boyd as Wikipedia suggests. Boyd was a black guy. D'oh).

I know.
I was reading about the Montreal screwjob for a couple of hrs last night. I knew about it of course and saw highlights and the Bret Hart docu years ago but it was still interesting reading about who knew what and when. I have always thought it was a giant angle that was made to look real...you know what I mean, more than the normal kayfabe.

I just knew I'd have a heck of a laugh last night, also, when I had the idea to wiki Soldad and Tijioe. Friggin guys are from like Minnesota, lol. Kamala is from the South.
I never knew Kim Chee was Steve Lombardi! Ha!

Speaking of Lombardi....one realization that freaked me out was finally finding out what Gorilla meant by "The Terry Garvin School of Self-Defense".
Watched an old episode of PTW a few weeks back, where Lord Alfred Hayes jumps in on it with Gorilla. They start discussing "the School" as if they awarded legitimate diplomas or something. Al says: "oh yes, he was a very successful graduate, was he not?" Too funny.

I was pissing myself during that. I love some old school comedy that's like that, which isn't anything more than an inside joke. Monsoon was great for those.
