Title: The Ding Dong: for whom the bell tolls

Well, dagnabbit... right after I let in two questionable accounts, we get a real one!

So please welcome to the show: The Ding Dong. He already scored some overness points from me by posting in the "AWA on ESPN Classics" thread.

Welcome to The Ding Dong!

Now if we can get The Ho Ho's or The Twinky, I believe we'll be set

Thanks.

The Ding Dongs are in reference to the horrible NWA/WCW tag team going back in time that once wrestled like utter shit on a Clash of the Champions TBS show. Came out to polka music, had little bells attached to their uniforms, which all came loose by the middle of the match and hurt the wreslters if they took a slam or backdrop bump, lmao. They kept slipping on the ropes climbing them to do a top rope spot, things like that. Hilarious.

Awesome. I was hoping that was the reference!

Actually I had googled The Top Guns, trying to find out thru wiki and things like that, whether they were anyone else after they were in the AWA or if they just fell off the earth. Somewhere, don't remember where, but this place was linked to an AWA thread, so since I've been watching the repeats on tv, wanted to read what other people were saying about it.

Actually I had googled The Top Guns...

Wow... the "Top Guns" were good for something!

I think John Paul fell off the face of the earth. Ricky Rice stuck around through 1990 as "The Unknown Soldier" as a member of Sarge's Snipers during the Team Challenge Series era. After that...no idea. So "Whatever Happened to the Top Guns" IS a good question.

I think I have a recap of the debut ESPN episode of AWA Championship Wrestling...buried somewhere in our "Reviews & Columns" folder. From 1985, with Jimmy Garvin, the Freebirds and Larry Z.

Ah! Found it:
