Title: Unsung indy heroes
Description: Speak up before we all catch on.

I see that one of my very favorite young southern indy workers is headed to ROH for their 2/19 show.
It's Vordell Walker. You may have seen him get squashed a couple of times on early Impact episodes. He's also worked for NACW, FIP, GCW, Combat Fusion, as well as many other organizations. I've seen him have some really good matches with very average competition, so I'm interested to see how he can step it up against better workers. He has a good look, works the crowd very well, and is a very talented athlete in the ring. He can do some high-flying, but I think he's at his best with more of a shoot/MMa style match. Very solid. If you haven't seen him, you can check out his website:
Vordell's webpageAny how, keep an eye out for him.
I thought this may be a good idea for a thread. Who are some of your favorite workers that the rest of us have heard very little about?

I still don't think EZ Money ever got his just due. The first time I ever saw him was on WCW in their last month (he was going by Jason Jet, or something like that). I was immediately impressed and thought he was going to be a huge star.

Yeah, I don't know how he never made it big. He had the innate ability to get over with a crowd.

Johnny Ova. I've seen him while waiting to watch my best friend wrestle, and he's an impressive cruiserweight.

Hmm. this thread is flying along like I thought it might. Do you guys not have indy workers in your local area that you support, though they may not be well-known?

Aside from the occasional NWA-No Limits show, indy wrestling in Iowa is terrible.

When indy wrestling is around NH, the best we get are WWF hasbeens. ...Although more recently, one is a legend now. We sometimes we got wrestlers like Tony Atlas, Koko B. Ware, Greg Valentine (right before his induction). Although there once was a main event with Steve Bradley vs. Alex Arion. I think that's the best to offer. You would thing there should be more indy wrestling promotions coming to NH being next to Boston, next to the promotion where the Lawlers still sometime work from Maine, and Bradley's school out of Manchester. ...And not that great, and never advertise.

WMD, Vordell Walker played a big role in last night's ROH show. You might wanna check out the results.

Huh? Really? If anyone saw it, I want to hear how he did.

I'll post the results in a few seconds in another thread.

Well, it looks like Vordell is headed to ROH stardom, and no longer my underground hero....so here's another one.
Canadian Lion Lance Erikson. I don't think he's really Canadian, but the story is he was born in New Brunswick and moved to West Virginia at a young age. He's about 6'3" 265lbs, so I guess he qualifies as a hoss. He's not WWE material though, cause a) he's built like Stan Hansen, and B) he can really work. This guy has great mat skills, very believable offense, and sells good for smaller guys. I think he's mostly wrestling in WV and Tennessee, but I've caught him a couple of times in NC. With his build and style, he seems like he would be huge in Japan. Several sources say he is a real-life prick, so that may inhibit him from getting very far in the business.
Here is the only website I could find for him. It's outdated, but it's got some decent content.

I just found a full Lance Ericson match on-line for anyone interested.
Go to www.nacw.net, and click on the video section. The match of the week is Lance vs. Lash Leroux. It's not the best representation of his skills, as there is a lot of brawling and he has to sell Lash's silly offense, but it is a pretty good TV match. About 10 min. long. Streaming video.
