Title: June 2008 Site Feedback
Description: The World Shall Watch til' it can't!

Erick Von Erich - June 2, 2008 09:17 PM (GMT)
Fans, May was once again the Greatest Month in the History of Our Site!!

Traffic really picked up during the final two weeks of the month. I have in my hand, direct from the home office in Gunbarrel, Texas: the Top 10 Website Referrals for the Month of June:

1. da wrestling board
2. da wrestling site
3. wwf wrestling challenge
4. wwf yokozuna
5. angel williams spanked
6. survivor series showdown 1991
7. 1985 wrestlemania i
8. miss brooks wrestling
9. monday night raw results 1993
10. msg cards

Numbers 6-10 all had very low referrals... so they're technically in a 232nd way tie for 6th. We had much more referrals this month, yet only a few repeat queries. In other words: more variety, less repitition.

We kicked off June with two new reviews from Whiny Bi...errr, Rowe :) Old school stuff that you should definitely check out, if you haven't already (one has the Spotlight with a cool ass Bruiser Brody pic)! Sassy did a promo piece for the newest ROH event, but I'm not sure how I feel about that.

All for now. We'll keep you updated with all the latest happenings, here in the DWS Events Center!

Oh yes, and please remember to "support" the site. Wink wink. Nudge nudge.

SamoaRowe - June 2, 2008 09:26 PM (GMT)
I enjoyed Sassy's preview quite a bit, though I can't believe I haven't sat down and watched the actual preview itself on Youtube yet.

I just signed up for 24/7 Online, mainly for the old episodes of Raw. Expect to see a lot more of those in the future (they're quick and easy to review, so they'll fill the void of my NWA Showcase episodes).

I'm also in the process of downloading, er, ordering the replay of One Night Stand, so hopefully I'll get to that sometime soon.

Erick Von Erich - June 3, 2008 05:40 AM (GMT)
Sassy's ROH: Take No Prisoners and Rowe's RAW have been added.

Regarding ROH: did I read right that a guy won a match with an armbar?

Yeah, those sort of finishes sneak in quite a bit in ROH.

And I just submitted my One Night Stand review. It'll hopefully be up sometime today. I'll give you a teaser: I actually enjoyed it.

Jillie - June 7, 2008 09:26 PM (GMT)
Yo. My Impact review is late.

I am a DJ, you see, and starting in May it's wedding season. Hence, I worked Thursday night on a consultation with a bride and Friday night for some reception. I'm just out the door for a 4:00pm to 2:00am wedding reception (that's 10 hours, in case you're counting). Needless to say, I probably won't be doing the review until sometime on Sunday.

Sorry!

SamoaRowe - June 8, 2008 04:23 AM (GMT)
Just when I started to think that Jillie couldn't be any more cool, I find out she's a DJ. Yikes.

And it's okay, if we want to get technical, my One Night Stand review should've been in on Monday at the latest.

Well, Jillie is taking a mental health day from work due to lack of sleep (aka, called in sick), so she should have the Impact review and Slammiversary review (if it should download properly) done by this afternoon.

Yay for sick days!!

SamoaRowe - June 9, 2008 09:04 PM (GMT)
Where are you downloading Slammiversary?

Jillie - June 9, 2008 10:05 PM (GMT)
http://www.wrestlingforum.com/

That's where I get my TNA PPV downloads. It JUST finished downloading, so I'll recap it tonight and tomorrow. I sent my Impact review to E, though.

Erick Von Erich - June 10, 2008 11:31 PM (GMT)
Me am back.

Went to New England over the weekend. Had a laptop with me and thought I'd have some downtime/privacy to update Da' Site, but it didn't happen.

So carry on as you were....

EDIT: don't worry, Rowe...your RAW reviews will be added soon :)

Jillie - June 11, 2008 05:06 AM (GMT)
By the by, I WAS going to finish the Slammiversary review, but I can't now, because the file I downloaded had it's sound off, which usually doesn't bother me, except that I was hearing what was happening BEFORE I saw it (usually, the sound lags behind the video, which is annoying, but tolerable). So, I had to re-download the file. And now I get wind that my boyfriend just got a new puppy, so I have to go see said puppy tomorrow after work, hence, the show probably won't get reviewed tomorrow.

If I don't have it done by the time Impact airs on Thursday, I'm just going to give my Slammiversary review a big "Fuckit" and move on. Sorry, but I really, really want to meet my step-puppy. Haha.

SamoaRowe - June 11, 2008 11:02 AM (GMT)
Haha, "step-puppy."

These Are All Gay! - June 11, 2008 01:47 PM (GMT)

See four posts up? Maybe?!

These Are All Gay! - June 11, 2008 05:56 PM (GMT)
ah, didn't see that.

Erick Von Erich - June 12, 2008 05:02 PM (GMT)
Not that it really matters, but I had to ban all ".cn" email addresses. We were getting 60 spammer registrations a day from those types.

So if you have any friends from China who wanted to register...sorry, they can't join right now.

But my buddy Long Duck Dong really wants to start posting here....

;)

I have to say, EvE's editor notes in my reviews are really funny. Check out the 2/1/93 Raw for the most recent.

And seriously, I know nothing about Warren Moon. I'm guessing he sucks?

Erick Von Erich - June 12, 2008 10:34 PM (GMT)
Naw.. Warren Moon was pretty good in his day, actually. I put "HA" because I'm chuckling that he's irrelevant and forgotten nowadays. Plus, I'm still gloating over the way his supposedly awesome team was pwned by the Broncos in the 1991 NFL Playoffs.

Primer on Warren Moon:
-Norman Smiley is his twin

user posted image.user posted image

-He had a distinguished career in the CFL in the early 80's before coming to the NFL in 1984 and having a distinguished career. I think he's one of the few pro players to be in BOTH the CFL and NFL Hall of Fame.

-He's mentioned in the 1999 movie "Three Kings"..when Ice Cube and friends are tossing footballs at the beginning of the movie.

-He made the Pro Bowl several times in the 80's and 90's.

-He manned Houston's "Run n' shoot" offense. Would throw for 4,000 yards (that's a bunch) seemingly every year...then lose in the playoffs.

-Almost single-handedly made the old Houston Oilers the perennial AFC playoff contender, annually. Moon left via free agency in 1993. The Oilers went 2-14 the next year and sucked until Eddie George, Steve McNair and the state of Tenessee came along.

-He really deserves a LOT of credit for being one of the first prominent black QB. There were some before him, but Moon was probably the first black "superstar QB". That is, a guy whose football cards sold for a few bucks.

My Warren Moon moment: the aforementioned Broncos/Oilers playoff game in January, 1992. The Oilers were Super Bowl picks of many and were up 14-0, early. Moon had his team on the 5 yard line, in front of the South Stands (the old home of the "rabid fans" in Mile High Stadium and where I had season tix). Denver Safeties (and hard-hitting bad asses) Steve Atwater and Dennis Smith moved up next to the nose tackle, showing blitz, and stared right into Moon's face. Moon, looked up, saw them..and immediately called time out. This led to a deluge of heckles from the South Stands along the likes of "YOU FUCKING PUSSY!!!"

Oilers went on to lose the game by a score of... 26-24, I think. When the Greatest QB in NFL History drove his team down the field, from the 2 yard line, with no timeouts and 1:58 left. He even converted on 4th and long, twice.

Joe Theismann?

Erick Von Erich - June 12, 2008 10:55 PM (GMT)
Rule 7.7 from E's Rules of Football:

ARTICLE I: if anyone ever confuses that cockbag Joe Theezman with the Greatest QB in NFL History...we've gotta' get his balls, sir.

These Are All Gay! - June 12, 2008 11:53 PM (GMT)
So it's not Joe Theismann, eh?

Archie Manning?

SamoaRowe - June 13, 2008 01:42 PM (GMT)
Just letting you know, when you go under "WWE Pay-per-views" and click on the link for Backlash 2008, it takes you to One Night Stand.

Erick Von Erich - June 13, 2008 03:37 PM (GMT)
Hrm. I lost the Backlash review when I was splitting up the "current reviews" section into separate sub-sections. Had a backup, and it's been restored.

Also added a "TNA PPV" sub-section in the "current reviews". It's featured in the "Top of the Card" on the main page. Along with a picture of the "New" Abyss (aka: Norman the Lunatic with a mask). I was going to forgo Abyss for a picture of Velvet Sky and Angelina Love, in bed together. Maybe next time... or whenever I feel like increasing our audience of teenaged horndogs (but I have to admit: Velvet Sky is quite bangable).

SamoaRowe - June 14, 2008 04:03 PM (GMT)
I liked the Slammiversary review a lot. I'm glad it got posted, better late than never :).

Jillie - June 14, 2008 07:56 PM (GMT)
Thanks! Unfortunately, I don't think the Impact review for this week is going to get done. If it does, it's going to be mega late (as if it's not already). IT's been a busy weekend. Sorry guys!

Erick Von Erich - June 15, 2008 04:41 PM (GMT)
On the weekly shows, I'm perfectly okay if you skip a week, here and there. If it's more than 4 days late, just wait until the next episode.

We'll still accept and post late reviews, of course. I just don't want anyone to feel bogged down and start thinking: "Ugh! I'm two weeks behind on my reviews! I can't catch up!"

Erick Von Erich - June 25, 2008 07:03 AM (GMT)
I have RAW and ECW to add, from Sassy. I'll get them up, tomorrow...probably around 11am MDT. Just too late right now.

I'm planning on doing WCCW and possibly a '97 Nitro or "old school" house show, this weekend.

SamoaRowe - June 25, 2008 11:14 AM (GMT)
I've been very busy lately, but I predict some free time will be setting in soon. Hopefully I'll get some new old school Raw reviews sent in.

SamoaRowe - June 30, 2008 05:09 PM (GMT)
Well, I'm about two weeks from taking off to Maine for about two weeks. In the mean time, hopefully I'll get some review cranked out so E can add some while I'm gone and we won't have a slow down with reviews (good thing Sassy is around to keep up to date with the current shows).

I'll also remind E that I do have some old reviews in the reviews folder that never got posted on da main site. Those could come in handy too ;).

Jillie - June 30, 2008 06:42 PM (GMT)
My goodness summer is busy for me! Wedding season is upon us, folks, and I have about this much free time on the weekends. If someone else wants to try their hand at reviewing Impact, I won't be offended. I'll try to get them done when I can, though. *sigh* I can't wait until September...

Erick Von Erich - July 1, 2008 06:09 PM (GMT)
Funny thing with the Google ads. On the new Boston Garden show I added, one ad displayed "Lanny Poffo is here", followed by the details of a People Finder service.

See, as an advertiser, you can add a wildcard keyword to your Google ad. Bascially, the People Finder service did not place an ad for "Lanny Poffo is here"... they did it for: "* is here". Google AdWords filled in the name "Lanny Poffo". The People Finder guys must've picked a wide variety of keywords to trigger their ads.

Just thought it was funny that it picked Poffo's name, at random.

So I clicked through and got the following:

QUOTE

Name/AKA: POFFO, LANNY M
Age: 53
Address, City, State: LARGO, FL
SARASOTA, FL

Phone Number Available

Possible Relatives:
POFFO, JUDITH S (age 81)
POFFO, SALLY ANN (age 55)
POFFO, RANDY M (age 55)

I'd say it's fairly accurate!

About ready to close this thread out, so here are the top 10 referrals for the month of June 2008:

1. da wrestlimg board
2. undertaker vs sid and chcago crowd
3. da wrestling site
4. da wrestling board
5. nwa wrestling showcase review
6. "lust hogan"
7. erick von erich
8. wrestlemania4 com
9. wwe 24/7 nitro review
10. "crank it up" "hart foundation" "young stallions"

Note: "angel williams spanked" was #12. People wanna' see that broad getting her cakes pounded!

And the WTF Referral of the Month: "big butts like it big(repo bitch)"

The idiots were well represented last month: those top two referrals are NOT typos on my part.

Important stat of the month: we had 947 unique visits, with 525 absolute unique viewers. Of those, 51.74% were new visitors, while 48.26% were returning visitors. So that means we're retaining an audience of steady readers. There aren't 200 of us, so there's a decent-sized group out there following our stuff.

What exactly do these referrals refer to? How do you get this list? Is this, for instance, things people google and our site pops up in the results? Just curious.
