This one should be an interesting one. I could see him being a divider to a degree.

SamoaRowe - April 17, 2008 02:43 AM (GMT)
He's never done much for me. So I say nay.

Frankie was the shit though.

Mad Dog - April 17, 2008 02:54 AM (GMT)
He was better in Memphis. The Pretty Young Things tag team with Norvell Austin was really good.

SamoaRowe - April 17, 2008 03:02 AM (GMT)
I can believe that. I'll admit, my opinion of him is almost exclusively based on early 90's WWF stuff.

I went Yay, Koko was always a solid worker. Plus, he was used as "enhancement talent" for years and he was good at it.

If you watched the Memphis clips I linked you'll get to see him in a little more of his light. Solid brawler and a decent high flyer. Got over really well despite never winning in the WWF. Played heel and face successfully in Memphis and even had some solid stuff in Mid-South. Here's a list of the titles he won. He pretty much won everything there was to win in Memphis during his main run in the 80s.

# NWA (Nashville) Mid-America Televison title win a Battle Royal (????, 1980);
# AWA Southern Tag Team titles w/Stan Lane defeating Ricky Gibson in a Handicap match (September ??, 1981);

# CWA (Tennessee) Mid America Heavyweight title defeating Buddy Landell (August 22, 1983);
# AWA Southern Tag Team titles w/Dutch Mantell defeating Tony Anthony & Len Denton (September ??, 1983);
# NWA (Mid America) United States Junior Heavyweight title defeating Tommy Rogers (October 10, 1983);

Awesome, I had a feeling you were going to post some youtube stuff due to my ignorance, now I have something to watch after work :).

If Koko gets a "Yay", then so does about 85% of wrestlers who have ever been on a major roster. AKA - he sucked.

Erick Von Erich - April 17, 2008 03:51 PM (GMT)
He can do the Board, Board, Board, but he gets no Vote, Vote, Vote. Even if he did invent "Afro-Turf" (tm, Jesse Ventura)

Should be noted that his only "World Titles" were in the USWA in 1992 when that fed had become the WWF's minor league.

Seemed to be that he always went for a big splash while his guy was leaning against the ropes. Guy moves, KoKo hits the ropes and that's it.

Bullshit.

This isn't a vote on weather or not he should be voted into the HOF, it's just his assessment of being worthwhile. Which he was, moreso than 90% of their roster was considering how long he lasted in the company without ever being put in a promanent role.

whitemilesdavis - April 18, 2008 07:43 PM (GMT)
So you had Koko as one of the top few workers in the company? Koko? Better than 90%? I don't have anything to back it up, I just don't see it.

Not as a top worker. He's just a guy that was consistently decent regardless if he was getting a push or not.

Mad Dog - April 20, 2008 10:30 PM (GMT)
He might've been hear the top in 86 due to how thin the roster was. I'd safely place him in the top half of the roster the years he was around but that isn't necessarily saying anything considering the shit the WWF always had running around.

Viceroy Virus - April 23, 2008 02:40 AM (GMT)
I'll pass - he was good, not great.

Timmy8271 - April 23, 2008 10:00 PM (GMT)
He's not the best but he always entertained me. Especially his feud with Corey Maclin in 2006.
