Title: Favourite Wrestling Company

prof_plague - February 1, 2005 04:04 AM (GMT)
Simple Question:

What's your favourite wrestling company, product, brand. whatever you want to call it?

Overall: I'd have to go with RoH. I haven't seen as much indy or regional stuff as I would like, but RoH is overall for me for the stuff I have seen.

I do like the WWE and all, but not as much. But within the WWE, I'd have to go with SmackDown, although lately Raw has been having a more consistant/better storylines.

I gotta go with RoH as well. Althought JAPW is really starting to grow on me.

prof_plague - February 1, 2005 09:21 PM (GMT)
Honestly, I haven't got to see JAPW; although a fair amount of the RoH roster is from, or also on, the JAPW roster.

But JAPW is quite a different animal with the IWS guys, Da Strong Style Thugs, and Teddy Hart. Plus, Dan Maff and Jay Lethal as big players.

I'm not going to bullshit anyone and say a promotion that has cult following.

WWE. It's the only promotion I watch every week for several hours, and have 300+ tapes of.

Are we talking current or all-time?

Current? Well, I can't say I really care too much about any of them. With Benoit floundering I am losing all interest it Raw. I have almost no interest in Smackdown since Eddie's push died. I dig NOAH but I'm too lazy to follow them. ROH is overrated to hell but they have produced a handful of real great matches. Don't watch much else.

Hey - there's a reason why WWE is the top promotion.

They bought the talent from every promotion in the 80's and were simply ruthless?

ROH is overrated to hell but they have produced a handful of real great matches.

With me and RoH, RoH was the company that really sparked my interest again in wrestling. It just so happens that more recently some of my favourite wrestlers and gimmicks go to RoH.

There's also different reasons why I like ROH. Don't get me wrong, I like WWE also, but mostly because it's more accessible.

RoH still leaves a little imagination to the fans - not all wrestlers wrestle by their real names, or something that could be a real name, the gimmicks seems more fresh as of late, the idea of the "Code of Honor" is a cool thing to have, for fact that they have structured "Top 5" to determine who's next in line for a World title shot, there's more of a sense of prestige to the titles, et cetera.

Unfortunately, a lot of the fans of RoH are smarks and go over the top with company, making it overrated. It's a good show---to me at least. If some of the stuff from RoH carried over to WWE or any other company, then that would be my new favourite promotion.

Hahahaha. True, but looks who's ontop of all of the other promotions.

Technically, I have to say WWE because I've got so many tapes, spent so many hours watching them, spent a ton of money on pay-per-views, tickets, dvds, etc.

However, I own four ROH dvds and I like all four of them better than MOST of my WWE pay-per-view dvds and tapes. Basically, if I had more money and such and could see more ROH than I know it would more than likely be my favorite fed, but for now WWE holds the crown.

1985-1989 in the NWA for me. Nothing has ever touched what they did during that time frame. Even with Dusty the matches were still blowing away anything the WWF has ever done.

New Japan is a close second even with the recent crappiness of the entire fed.

I like RoH but they're more of a change of pace fed when I want something different from what I usually watch.

I agree. ROH and classic NWA remind me why I watch wrestling in the first place.

Swiggy's Red-X signature = the reason I read wrestling message boards. :D

MillenniumMan831 - February 5, 2005 03:07 AM (GMT)
Yeah, currently it's WWE or nothin' for me just because ease of availability.

I really wish the WWE had some good competition again.
