Title: WWE 24/7: SummerSlam (August 2007)

Hey! With this month's SummerSlam hyperbole, that means I've had WWE 24/7 for almost a full year. So I've spent 96 bucks...yet I still feel it's a better deal than Skinemax (and I mean that in the most heterosexual way possible. A guy can only watch the same Skinemax skanks fake orgasms so many times).

I finished watching the 1990 Great American Bash show on Tuesday night (it's been removed with this week's update). What a lame undercard. I think the RnR Express were fill-in opponents against DOOM. Made necessary when the Road Warriors left for the WWF.

They toss out Tommy Rich vs. Harley Race, which Gary Michael Cappetta introduces as "a matchup between two former great world champions". In other words, he's saying "hey! This really isn't a match between two has-beens! Please don't run to the bathroom!".

There's also "Captain" Mike RotundA vs. the Iron Shiek-- a "Roadblock Match" for the WWF Tag Titles, circa June 1985. Remember, in the words of Phil Keogan: "a Roadblock is a task that one team member must perform alone".

Woke up super-early this morning and watched the following in "Shorties" and "Legends":

-Ric Flair vs. Junkyard Dog
NWA World title match from Clash of Champions XI. JYD basically punches and no-sells Flair's stuff until Ole Anderson runs in for a DQ.

-Ric Flair vs. Kerry Von Erich
NWA World title match from Texas Stadium and the DVE "Star Wars" Parade of Champions. Historic and entertaining match. Still cracks me up when Bill Mercer gets excited and says: "Good grief, Charlie Brown!"

-Taz vs. Louie Spiccoli
ECW TV title match from what looks like a backyard in New Jersey. Spiccoli challenges Taz to beat him in less than 30 seconds, and he does. Can someone explain to me Spiccoli's "Sha-linga" thing?

Yeah, the JYD act was really outdated by the time they did that match.

Watched the following today:

-Savage vs. Flair: Bash at the Beach '95
-Sting & Luger vs. Hogan & Savage - Monday Nitro ('98)
-Summerslam '94

Wow... the "Four Horsemen" feature ends abruptly in October 1995. Arn says "Pillman joined us and we were off and running again". Then it cuts to the overall summary piece and the feature ends.

Ummm....wasn't there some guy from Canada who was in there for about three years?

Nope. Bret Hart was never in the 4-Horseman......

Huh...silly me. I must've been thinking of Makhan Singh. He kinda' looks like Ole Anderson if you squint.

Examining what's left, minus the hatchet job, I'd have to say it's fairly average. About 50% of the documentary is spent talking about the "Horsemen lifestyle", with only the obligatory in-ring action. Interviews are re-run, ad naseum, while aside from the 1987 War Games, not many matches are touched upon in detail.

It also hurts that Arn Anderson gives all of his interviews in kayfabe mode. Saying stuff like "we beat the hell out of Dusty and broke his leg".

I was kinda' impressed that they tracked down Paul Roma and included his interviews.

Watching SummerSlam '94 right now.

Hey, ECW's Faith No More Guy is in the crowd!!

I never realized it before, but do ya' think Luna Vachon was modeled after Wendy O. Williams? Mohawk, weird hair, gravelly voice... all that.

Dang, it seemed that Alundra Blayze was actually OVER? She turned in a pretty good match, so I'm not surprised. Only one hair pull spot in it, too!
